I just wanted to share that I just made $18, my first sale, using trialpay.com. If you haven't heard of it, and you have a product, it's definitely worth checking out. My trialpay offer page is currently converting at 12% (of course, that will drop). Just a thought to those of you interested!
Lauren, first sale is always a beautiful moment. Congratulations! Keep the momentum going and post here soon with news of your first $1000 in the bank :-)
- Ritesh Lal
Hi Lauren - could you explain what trial pay is and how you incorporate it into your business to make money. I just went to the site and don't really understand the concept. Thanks!
- Elizabeth
Congrats! May you have many more =) I've heard about it, cause WPD uses it, but I've never looked into it before. Will try! || @Elizabeth If I'm not mistaken, customers can sign up for free offers, for which Trialpay pays you. So customers are indirectly buying your product by signing up for free trials. Though, I think there are paid trials too
- Art Y.
It's kind of like using your product as an incentive for CPA offers, except that they usually pay around $15 or so. (You can adjust how much you'll accept for your product.) So instead of selling your product, you give it away for free and in return TrialPay pays you for the person who completed one of their offers.
- Lauren
Thanks for explanation Lauren - was this covered in 30dc+ or something you found on your own? curious minds et al :-)
- Elizabeth
Me Too - Will have at least 5000 recruits this year Check out the Video I made for my new website promoting 2009 30DC http://is.gd/t2FM Bring your Tissues, it's emotional ;-p
- Kenneth Hamilton
Hi everyone! Long time no see. I'll try to make it =)
- Art Y.
Hey gang made me 1st dollar on the zillionDC oops I mean the 30DC ha. Amazon just informed me that I made $3.57 waahooooo Think I sold a health care product. First it breaks the ice and 2nd every millionaire always starts with his first dollar.
This post was emailed to me which has never happened before. Anybody know anything about that (why it was emailed to me)(has ff ever emailed you anything before)
- Russ
Greg to answer your question I think the post says it all (zillion...) but with a straight face let me say that I do believe it can be done in 30 days in fact even less (depending on I don't know what)(how much you impliment the stuff I guess)
- Russ
Russ when I got my 1st $s I too called it the zillion DC - I think there are quite a few of us around :D
- Isha (Marysia)
Ahh- I remember it well...already looking to this years! Looks like it involves twitter? Do hope so, I love anything minimalist & simple! Using twitter loads!Thats y I dont get to FF so much now...
- Inspired Writing Research
My site is two months old now and using the 30DC techniques and some others it now has a PR of 2 on the new rankings from today. Thanks Ed and the gang. - http://www.houses-for-sale-in-spain.net
Congrats Graham. I got a Goog PageRank boost myself yesterday, and it sure is a great feeling :-) Question for you: How do you show the post dates in that calendar graphic format? Is that some plugin which converts the post dates from text to a graphic? Thanks!
- Ritesh Lal
Hi Ritesh It is a plugin from Wordpress. Comes with some of the themes I think
- Graham Hunt
Thanks Graham, I have been trying to find out which plugin it is wihout much success. You wouldn't happen to have the name of the plugin by any chance, would you?
- Ritesh Lal
Ritesh, If you are talking about a calender in the sidebar, that is a standard wordpress widget. It automatically bolds/highlights the post date(s). If your blog theme is widget ready all you have to do is go to the widgets option in your blog admin and activate/add it to your sidebar where you want it.
- Colossal Marketing™
Hey Ron, I was actually thinking of the dates of the post. You know the post dates generally show up as text like "March 24, 2009". If you go to Graham's blog, they are displayed in graphical format (looks like a flip calendar) on the left of each post title. Ed has same feature on his blog posts www.tubbynerd.com
- Ritesh Lal
I know that shows up on one of my blogs; it's part of the theme.
- LJF Wolffe
Thanks LJF. I think you are right, it's not a separate widget/plugin (I tried looking for it in the source code of the above blogs). Oh well, would have been too easy. Time for some nice hacked coding to make it work :-)
- Ritesh Lal
Go for it! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you . . . 8-)
- LJF Wolffe
After 3 months of waiting it finally arrived! My first check from Amazon for $107.57! Since then I have seen my income from my affiliate sites skyrocket. Just wanted to say a bit of encouraging words for other 30DC members!
I started internet marketing around July of last year. I am not much into traditional education and so I approached the internet on my own and tried to self teach my self with the help of forums and books. After two months of learning to build my own websites and setting up my own affiliate offers I found the 30DC. I went through the course and was instantly hooked to the 30DC community and Ed, Dan and Bobs teaching style.
- Michael Roberts
I poured countless hours into studying, reading and building up a handful of affiliate blogs. Even though I managed to make a little more than $10 in the first 30days of the course it wasn't long before I was left feeling defeated. I had spent a total of 3 months of late nights working on the internet with just modest returns. I slowly eased off the internet and started thinking of my next endevour. Go back to the business structures I knew best.
- Michael Roberts
A month or two before Christmas I decided to check up on my affiliate sites. To my suprise they were bringing in hundreds of dollars each...every month. I just about fell out of my chair. Not because seeing a fat paycheck waiting for me was so cool....but the since of accomplishment was an amazing feeling. Being rewarded for my hard work.
- Michael Roberts
I re-dedicated my self to internet marketing and had the aggressive plan of building 8 affiliate websites every single month. Along the way I had guidance of friends, family and a great community with other 30DC members. Going back through the 30DC course, joining the Immediate Edge, buying Frank Kerns Mass Control and having a great mentor as Tim Buchalka were all factors in helping me acheive my sucess.
- Michael Roberts
Now I have quite a few affiliate websites and during the process of optimizing and building these sites....I thought there had to be an easier way. I grabbed a pen and paper, swiped the laptop and hid away in a quiet room of my house. I came out about 3 hours later with my idea on how I would simplify this proccess...and Trraffic-Bug was born. ( http://www.Traffic-Bug.com )
- Michael Roberts
I wanted to write this little snipit to tell people that anything is possible. Once you set your mind to something with enough motivation and determination you can truly achieve your dreams. This is no get rich quick thought process but one that requires time, good idea and hours and hours of work. I recommend you all read "Think and Grow Rich" (a classic that is very inspirational.) So if you have been in the 30DC for awhile or have just joined...hang in there.
- Michael Roberts
Keep working hard and don't settle for mediocrocy. If I can make this internet thing work then I know you can. I did want to stress how important it is for you all to have a group that you can bounce ideas off of. I have a very close small group of people that are invaluable to me. Without a team or mentor your success will surly be a longer harder road. This long winded speech is now done! :) But I wanted to help my community even more on the exact proccess that has helped me.
- Michael Roberts
and so I am almost finished putting together what was suppose to be a 20 page ebook but has grown almost into 60 pages. This ebook has all the tricks and tips easily consolidated into one easy source. I will be sure to post the link in here so you can all get the copy for free....
- Michael Roberts
My last little bit I wanted to say was Thank-You to Ed, Dan and Robert for there truly life changing course. I think it is human nature to associate value with price.....and so many people think they should spend thousands of dollars on other products to help them...when really 30dc and immediate edge are one of the "Authorities" on seo tactics. (Not that there aren't other great products out there) - *Frank Kern and Tim Buchalka also offer great materials* -So thank you 30DC! (Twitter @Mroberts23)
- Michael Roberts
Very inspirational story, Michael! Thank you for sharing about what you've been through... I'm really going to push myself to work twice as hard tomorrow!
- Art Y.
Very inspiring Mike. Your enthusiasm and 'realness' (if that is a real word) are a real boost - good luck with www.traffic-bug.com, I'm sure it will be massive
- David
Congratulations Michael. So great to hear about someone taking massive action and reaping the rewards
- Lisa
This has been helpful and inspiring. Retracing the path you took, I could identify with some of those moments and emotions. I agree that having a team and a mentor can help make the IM process a lot less bumpy. Thank you for sharing your experience, telling us what have worked for you, and giving us clear indication of which programs to follow. I wish you great success for Traffic Bug.
- Buff Toast
Congratulations and way to go Michael! Thanks also for offering to help and contributing to the community. It's folks like you that inspire us to drive forward. The very best of luck for Traffic Bug, I am sure it's going to be a killer :-)
- Ritesh Lal
This is great news Michael!!, well done!, I take my hat off to anyone that earns over $100 on Amazon alone!, what did you sell?, a kidney?.:)
- Elliot Webb
Thats Awesome Michael ! Onwards and upwards from here, ian_hagerty
- IanHagerty
from twhirl
wow that is really inspirational, great to hear a success!
- Catherine
Many congratulations Michael - that is seriously cool! I look forward to getting your ebook :)
- Isha (Marysia)
Michael, thanks so much for your great post/sharing. I just turned 70 and have been beating myself up for drinking so slowly from the IM fire hydrant and "accomplishing" so little for it. I'm inspired by your story - so thanks again and keep up the great work! Tom in ABQ
- Tom Miles
we knew you would make it Michael, well done, so great to hear this kind of stuff :))
- Tash
Thank you Art, David, Buff, Ritesh, Elliot, Ian, Catherine, Marysia, Tom and Tash for your kind words. It has always been helpful for me to know that there is a nice community out there that is so positive, encouraging and helpful. I am excited for my chance to help you all back in return. Until then thank you! :)
- Michael Roberts
:) A new revolution in internet marketing is beginning... I too want to thank everyone for all your help. Before I found the Thirty Day Challenge, I was wandering aimlessly, studying everything about IM I could with little sleep. Everything was scattered, and I couldn't piece it together. Needless to say, I fell sick from overwork and couldn't study anymore. Wandering through some sites to relax, somehow I found the TDC... Thank you everyone!
- Art Y.
Congratulations Michael, you inspire us all :)
- Jorge Blanco
These comments are so genuine and inspiring-thanks guys-I learnt everything I know here too,but theres still some simple obvious things we newbies need, like - anyone know how to protect our google adsense code? Thx
- Inspired Writing Research
I'm not sure there's a way to do that... other than regularly checking?
- Art Y.
include the code that sets up the google code for AdWords inside another script and/or encrypted php file
- Jorge Blanco
My Tribute to the hard working crew at 30DC! Thank you Dan, Ed, Bob and the whole team that has helped change my look on internet marketing! I owe you! (Get the full size wallpaper for free by following this link) - http://www.Traffic-Bug.com
Thank you again Ed, Dan, Bob and entire crew over there at the 30 Day Challenge...I can't thank you enough. I hope this makes you laugh a bit so I can give back to you in my own way.
- Michael Roberts
Hope everyone noticed the many subtle hints in the wallpaper. We even modeled the guitar after the one Ed Dale auctioned off....and Frank Kerns Helmet cracks me up! If you have ever seen one of his seminars you will understand why he is wearing it.
- TrafficBug
Who design the wallpaper? Very creative.
- Buff Toast
Thank you very much Buff! :) I designed it....It took me about 12 days to complete. Had to pay a lot of attention to detail...With Ed Dales iPhone utility belt and guitar to Guru Bobs "philosophy shirt." I just hope all the 30dc people enjoy it. This has been a great community and I have learned so much from everyone and the 30dc staff!
- Michael Roberts
Michael, you create the product Traffic Bug, design and did the artwork, and the marketing. That's a lot of work and know-how, requiring many different set of skills. Along the way, 30DC training was significant. Would you like to share a little about your IM journey and the training programs that you find has helped you become a all-round internet marketer?
- Buff Toast
Thanks Buff Toast for the interest! :) I will post a little snipit on another thread...And I will also be releasing about a 50 page ebook on the internet's best tools and internet marketing tactics that I find to work the best... I will be sure to post the link in this room so you can get a copy for free.
- Michael Roberts
The wallpaper looks great Michael - I've downloaded it and keep on noticing extra little details. If the attention to detail in Traffic Bug is as good then we are in for a real IM treat. Good work
- David
hey it's great, thanks Michael glad it's going so well :))
- Tash
Thank you everyone for all your great feed back and emails! Over 70 people downloaded that wallpaper! I almost fell of my chair! Thanks again 30DC community and crew!
- Michael Roberts
Download "Getting Things Done" PDF - What a great recommendation from Ed! This book is wonderful and after just 2 days I already feel like I'm starting to accelerate towards my goals. - http://www.transhumanism-russia.ru/documen...
Productivity seems to be the name of the game at the moment... I'm therefore hoping I'm on the money with my 30DC inspired venture. There's a bunch of free videos on productivity for one and all... (would love comments now it's open for business) http://the845club.com
- Mark
If your thinking about creating a pdf info product, try out these free tools before you buy any, they work great for me, also if you have alternative ideas, share that with us too:) - http://www.flopidle.com/interne...
Today is a day of celebration. I made, not my first dollar online, but my first dollar through sales with the 30DC methodology. This (whooping) 30 bucks commission came just when faith and energy were starting to falter. As always, I tip my virtual hat for Ed and the 30DC team. Thank you all!
I also like the cool way he highlights & recaps the previous posts in the series (the yellow para). In fact I guess the earlier posts are the more interesting ones, since this post actually just summarizes what we're taught in-depth in the 30dc.
- Isha (Marysia)
On the Twelve Days of Christmas Day 1, Dan shared about creating a free or paid survey site. Can this be done on a WordPress blog or does it need to be a website? Has anyone created theirs yet? I am about ready to launch but am unsure about the blog vs. website debate. That .pdf has me so pumped up!
My question would be - what the hell happened to the rest of it? I didn't see a thing after the (rather weird, frankly) PDF about survey sites. "Special prizes", etc...?
- Nik
Nik. Dan carried on the rest of the 12 days on his twitter feed, if you go back through his feed you will see the links, although the contest is closed now.
- Jon Dean
Kath, that url doesn't work - don't know why...
- Isha (Marysia)
Whadduya know - somehow I unfollowed Dan in the middle of all that. My bad (dammit!!) :(
- Nik
I just noticed this topic - I don't have anything to add re the surveys, but does anyone know if the day 12 result (the big one) has been released? Dan seems to have been twitterless since 31/12!
- san
Hi Wendy, I really liked the paid survey idea but got hung up on #4-Create your Members Area. I didn't think I could do it on WordPressDirect so I have not created a paid survey site. I'd like to, but until I figure out how to do #4, I'm stuck. I'm hoping to be Dan's big winner and he can give expand on that idea!
- sharon
Try using Joomla! as they have a members site built in to the installation. Can be a bit like wading trough treacle if you aren't used to it is all.
- Steve Fallon
@ Brian McClure. Dan didn't drop the ball, he said on the 12 days that the winners would be notified in the New Year, so now we're in the New Year the winners will be notified.
- Jon Dean
Dan did send out a Twitter for the 12 days of Christmas nearly all 12 days...he did some double and triple prize days. I saw a Twitter from someone that said he had the winners posted on his blog...wherever that is (the one I know about it under going maintenance right now). Dan GAVE AWAY some great stuff! Sadly, I was not a winner... :(
- Wendy Merritt
@ Wendy Merritt. Dan hasn't done the final draw yet, he will Tweet out the winners once he's back up to speed later in the week.
- Jon Dean
That's a fantastic presentation medium. Can't wait to try this format out. Cool!
- Doug Hudiburg
Wow. That is really cool... How far is the audio recording range of the livescribe pen? Can I use it to record a conference message while taking down notes?
- Art Y.
Well, its took me a little longer, but I made my first 100 with the 30DC. I have a couple more sites I am working on, and I am getting a buck a day pretty steady. Now just to keep building on that success,
Congratulations. Gotta Start somewhere. Im getting mine up and running finally as well. It doesnt have to be perfect.. it just has to be. Something that hit me (my ahaaah moment) from Matt Bacaks Marketing Madness 08
- Savings Maven
Well done ! I'm up tp $10 now - but where's our Hub Pages earnings? Cant seem to isolate these on adsense? Can anyone advise? (Want to know if its worth writing any more lol!)
- Inspired Writing Research
Acually, Hubpages hasnt earned me a penny. I need to work om them more, but I see it as a great backlink and possable traffic getter. DOnt know about separating Adsense, still learning that.
- J Craig
Thanks -- and you, too! Leaving soon to spend time with MiLady's family. Driving through all the snow should be fun . . .
- LJF Wolffe
Keep going Marysia - I'm up to $8.28 on one of mine - not a fortune I know, but for newbies we're not doing bad (with all the help) are we?
- Inspired Writing Research
Since I started with preseason in July and 30dc on 1st August I don't consider it very brill, but def better than a mud pie!
- Isha (Marysia)
Oh, & it's cost me 200 quid so far ;-) but it certainly was a great christmas prezi :)
- Isha (Marysia)
83 US cents.now go for 83$.realy i mean it.
- tomartomartini
Thanks tomartomartini!! and then $830 and then $8300 and... can't wait!
- Isha (Marysia)
A small present that I made for Ed, Dan, Guru Bob, and everyone at the Thirty Day Challenge. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of you! It's nothing very special, but I hope that everyone likes it. Feel free to download it and use it however you like. :)
No I haven't, but I will take a look now. Thank you Wendy.
- Rob Cooke
Is this going on a website or blog? If a WordPress blog I use a plugin called WP-Polls. I have used Democracy but you can only have one poll at a time. WP-Polls enables you to have multiple polls that can auto-rotate when the page is refreshed.
- Wendy Merritt
Well it looks like I have a few options. It's going on a WP site (self hosted). Actually I was a little inaccurate in my initial description. I meant survey rather than poll. Thanks for the suggestions
- Rob Cooke
I have created two blogs during the 30DC. Now, for a third niche, my idea is to create a regular website, not a blog. What is the best and easiest way to create a regular website? I have my own domain. Any suggestion?
You couldn't have asked at a better time. Here is what I suggest. I use them and they provide all the tools that you have to get separately with 30DC. Keyword research tools, auto responders, e-newletters, easy site building tools, rss feeds, socialize buttons and more! Here is the link to a special of buy one get one free ends Christmas. The cost is $300 per year. Almost the same cost...
- Emily
I've seen that sales page before and clicked away from it because it doesn't give a price. Sales pages that don't give prices are a real pain Emily
- Isha (Marysia)
I seem to be at exactly the same point as you, I've tried a couple of blogs which haven't done great so I am going for something a little more meaty. I got the business hosting package from Hostgator. I've tried Kompozer, MS Expressions and Dreamweaver. At the moment I am torn between Kompozer and Expressions. Dreamweaver is beautiful but really overkill for me atm.
- Kittie Walker
I use Wordpress, even if for sites without a blog. Excellent SEO, flexibility, lots of functionality built in and easy to include an RSS feed if you decide to have any sort of upadated content anywhere on your site. The off the shelf sites you can get are a little less individual and in myopinion don;t give you the opportunity to really stand out.as much as you could with your own website. Wordpress can be made to look nothing like a typical wordpress site.
- Rob Cooke
I agree with Rob on Word Press. It can be made to look indistinguishable from Word Press. WP seo's just like a website, easier to maintain without needing to do HTML (CSS, Javascript) surgery. I do not know your niche, but for most niche's your customers won't even care. Some people have also used Drupal and Joomla.
- Frank Dobner
When we first started out some years ago we used Website Wizard which did everything we needed at the time. It took about 12 months to outgrow them and now we use a combination of Web Page Maker, Joomla and WordPress depending on site content.
- Kim Baillie
I am a bit of a WP fanatic myself, so I am biased, but I do think it is excellent. I'm talking about WP self hosted (not WP.com). If it wasn't for that I don't know when I would have got started building my first site.
- Rob Cooke
I like http://www.weebly.com/ - you can create a website for FREE!!!!! You can also get a domain (although it does have 'a .weebly' part on the end of it) and they host it for you. Hope this helps.
- Enzo Vullo
I've tried Dreamweaver, Frontpage(garbage code), notepad(raw coding) and the winner everytime is Xsitepro v2. Check out my mentor James Schramko's site at http://www.xsitepro-seo.com and you get his awesome XSP cheet sheet when you buy through his link. Cheers Z
- M Zhaduleus Billadeau
from twhirl
my first successful site was built using phpnuke, it took away a lot of the html headaches, added some others..but was fun to learn and looks pretty nice http://coaching-youth-baseball.com/
- Brian McClure
I really believe in the power of wordpress, but customizing WP is not that easy.
- Soheyl
Yes. WP has a long way to go to educate its customer base on customizing their blogs/web code. They have documents upon documents that could create full time job to learn their stuff. I hope that they consider putting their stuff on video for simplifying the education. There is a niche for someone here to produce effective video training to utilize WP fully for us boneheads.
- Frank Dobner
Great idea Frank. Yes, a very great niche for the experts out there: Video tutorials on advanced aspects of WP. It can also be a topic for discussion during 30DC Plus.
- Soheyl
Keyword advice? Hi. I found a good keyword but I am concerned that the traffic is in the research phase. Certainly they will be buying, but with the keywords I've found, searchers are at the point of doing research. Is that ok? Or should my focus be on "buy" type keywords. Thanks
Could you give us an example using keywords other than your own? I'm not clear what you mean by "the traffic is in the research phase" and "searchers are at the point of doing research"?
- Isha (Marysia)
Something like "flat screen tv's" is general, but something like "Magnavox 19MF338B prices" is as if a narrowing down has occurred and a "buy" is more likely. I'm concerned that people may research for some time and perhaps specific "buying" searches put them on other sites...no commission for me. Think amazon link is only good for 24 hrs? Does that make sense?
- Mike Staskiewicz
Oh, I get you. I think you're right what you say about the keywords you've got. You can check commerciality a bit by looking at the OCR and the AWCTR. And you want to be looking for "long tail", ie not too general a term. It can be tough sometimes finding appropriate keywords, but my experience has been that suddenly I come across a load at once, so keep at it Mike.
- Isha (Marysia)
But also you could have a situation where you could be offering as your affiliate product the *best kind of* flat screen tv. So peeps might still be researching what they want to buy, but you could point them towards the best. And it's your affiliate product on your site.
- Isha (Marysia)
You could also make your own product/report on "the best kind of" flat screen tv rather than an affiliate product. If you make a pdf report then they can download it to their computer and then refer back to it when they are ready to buy. The report can be straight forward and filled with your affiliate links, if you make it a pdf then your links will not be able to be over written., hope this helps. Wayne
- Wayne Brewin
Developing Wayne's idea further, why not do a podcast for iTunes download and charge a nominal fee (say $1). Something that is research based so they see you as an expert and will return to your site to buy when the time is right. Claim the title of expert until someone proves you are not - no-one will!
- Kim Baillie
Not only am I starting to see blog growth with my ever expanding skills, but now (after the last video in 30DC+) I have developed a hunger for my very own Friendfeed Room empire. So many opportunities, so little time .......
I didn't get most of this article, in terms of the title. The title seems to indicate that if you use these 15 secrets, you'll become a power user. But it raised a few questions in my mind: 1. what is the benefit of liking or commenting someone else's post? 2. Is it REALLY worth all the effort to reformat everything to add visual appeal and repost something directly into friendfeed rather than just clicking "share" in Google Reader, or posting a message to twitter? Does anyone else do this?
- Chad Sentman
I'm still trying to wrap my brain around FF. Liking/commenting, rather than just posting a link to the same resource (seems to me) to get you involved in a conversation and exposed to people outside your current "sphere of influence". Though I still might (retweet or retwit or whatever the lingo is!) to my network and reference Barb as the source? As far as adding eye candy - the author is referring to "sharing" to a blog (I believe).
- DaleK
@Chad: I always feel like the energy I've invested into FriendFeed is worth more to the community if other people like and/or comment on the article. If I can't dress up an otherwise worthwhile share enough to get people to read it then I'm not sure I can really say it was worth reading. It sounds a bit mercenary but it's just too hard for readers to differentiate between a stream of one-line-no-pic headlines that all look the same.
- Daniel J. Pritchett
