It looks like people are solving it, so hopefully I'm not spoiling it: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Tab, Return. It's a variation of the Konami code (which nets you 30 lives in Contra) adapted for the keyboard. Figured out the first part from Paul's clue, but it took going through the minified Javascript to figure out a) that they didn't use the original Konami code like Google does and b) what they used for keyboard equivalents for "select" and "start."
- Mark Trapp
AWESOME! but didn't the code net you 99 lives?
- Keith - @tsudo
In Contra it was 30; not sure what it was in other Konami games.
- Mark Trapp
hahah man that's intense. i guess they know their audience :)
- Frankie Warren
The Legend of the Mystical Ninja: U U D D L-Button R-Button L-Button R-Button Start. 30 lives. I'll never forget that ;p (there also was that B A B A variation too..) GG Mark.

http://www.google.com/reader... I'm glad you asked this right now. I just realized that several people are following me and I didn't even know it. I hope it hasn't been this way for long!
- Michael Fidler
Just noticed that Reader now allows grouping of people you follow! Wondering: is Reader going to become a competitor (instead of complement) to FriendFeed?
- Chris Rogers
@rogersdc / Chris, Google Reader is obviously been trying to become more social, but I'd really like to see FF come out with a bookmarklet that makes sub'ing RSS feeds to FF easier/faster. Right now it's a manual process involving either a new Group/Room or Imaginary Friend. Should be 2 clicks tops.. Also see: http://friendfeed.com/alexsch...
- Alex Schleber
Here is mine : http://www.google.fr/reader.... I share (mainly on French sites and blogs) about libraries, literature and arts, human and social sciences, photography :-)
- Nadine Pestourie
LOL here we go again :o) http://www.google.com/reader... I share a lot of blogs and funny stuff that I read, it's neat how I can share and it gets posted all over by friendfeed.
- David Gross
http://www.google.com/reader... - I share items about productivity, gaming, movies, and misc. stuff from the Google "cool" via Recommendations feed. Thanks Kol for starting this thread because I've been trying to cut down on the number of feeds I subscribe to and instead just follow interesting people.
- Dusty Edenfield
Svartling: good point about adding people to groups. I noticed I couldn't comment on items that were shared by some users.
- Dusty Edenfield
I've (we) written a lot of more good tips on how to use Google Reader in Google Reader comments. It's too bad we don't have permalinks in Greader so we can share our notes and comments. Otherwise I could have posted a link here. Here are some on friendfeed: http://friendfeed.com/svartli...
- Svartling
Thanks for posting this Kol. Never paid any attention to my shared items folder before but just did!
- Martha
The conversation is really blowing up (in a good way) on Reader. The most important reminder currently is to set up groups and allow commenting. That is NOT on by default!
- Vince DeGeorge
Thank you all. I think I have subscribed you all now (except those feed in languages I don't understand) Here is mine again: http://www.google.com/reader...
- Svartling
I've started to follow a few of the people here but there's quite a few, so will take me a while :) - My currently fairly bare feed is: http://www.google.com/reader...
- Roy Herrod
There are a few entries here you might like to read to help you. This one: http://ff.im/6CkQj explains about adding people to groups to allow them to comment and why some don't stay in groups. In this one: http://ff.im/6F9pQ I suggest a way to track a large number of shared items using PostRank. This: http://ff.im/6Ci0P and this: http://ff.im/6AM35 has a few tips on using GReader as a lifestreaming service. And this: http://ff.im/6EMT1 gives a few examples of GReader bundles.
- Kol Tregaskes
Those of you above whom I already follow on FF/Twitter/etc., I've subscribed to your feeds. As for the rest of you: if you follow me on GReader, I'll follow you back.
- Dennis Jernberg
I'm sharing some pages now, including a few of my past blog entries.
- Dennis Jernberg
Because I have issues with data duplication, I have merged this list with the google reader shares room feeds. You can view the Google spreadsheet at http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc...
- Rob Diana
There are a bunch of shared feeds that I could not resolve the Google username for because they did not have a named profile set up.
- Rob Diana
tristanhambling, your link didn't work. :-(
- Kol Tregaskes
It would be really handy to have all these shared feeds as an opml file. Has anyone added everyone? Care to export an opml of the shared feeds?
- Paul Jacobson
I'm http://www.google.com/reader... Not really comfortable with the custom URL though since it can only be your gmail username. Makes it really easy for spamspiders I think.
- TobiasVerhoog.com
Tobias, possibly but not had any problems myself though Gmail has the best spam filters around so I probably not noticed. ;-)
- Kol Tregaskes
http://www.google.com/reader... mostly webdev, photography news, music, world news which i get interested. plus half of them may be article in Japanese. sorry. :-p

Andy, Richmond Park and the others around there are the appeal really. Good place to go photographing and cycling while being very close to London I think.

Teddington (across the river from Kingston Upon Thames, is where I think I'd like to live. Just 'cos it's cheaper than everywhere else around it. :-)
- Kol Tregaskes
I've checked rental prices in the area several times over the last 2 years and Teddington is definitely cheaper. I'm not buying, no way I can afford that. ;-) All a pip-dream anyway, need a steady job and I've not had that for a while. :-(
- Kol Tregaskes
anyone use google reader on windows mobile professional? I cant seem to get it to work and when I try to go to the mobile site it takes me to the regular site.

Kamilah, you are kamilah.gill. You can find this if you click on yourself in the Contacts sidebar. You address (like everyone) is shown there.

I'm sniffling because I don't have a google wave nick. Despite two invites, there is still nothing in my inbox. I am not in with the in crowd. :(

Glad to see more and more people getting in. What we're waiting for is proper group support (a few weeks hopefully) then let the games begin! :-D

Marianne: For whatever reason, the link you provided that is *supposed* to send me to a great public list of bookmarks that discuss the Google Bookmark functionality -- well, that link is actually redirecting users to something else. In my instance it redirected me to my own list(s) of bookmarks, all of which have been marked private. Perhaps Google has a glitch in their system?
- Jill O'Neill
Like the design and layout! I will have to look into this for my main blogger blog.
- Yo Joe. No, go slow.
Thanks! It still amazes me how far personal publishing has come...though I did have a communications prof tell me 30 yrs ago we'd be here. :)

i know finger is on button to buy but getting recs from twitter to go with support
- Lori Reed
so you think it should be supportlibraries.org? I think saving makes it sound more "dire" and more urgent.
- Peter Coyl
So Peter you like savelibraries.org? Hell it's only $7. I can change it later :)
- Lori Reed
savinglibraries.org is sounds more dire -- but like i put on twitter to lori, there's a bigger problem; pple love the library when they use it, for the services they use it for, but do they really get why we're as vital and as important to the community, as the police, the ems, the roads, and education? i'm not sure..... and will savelibraries.org name visualize that or something else?
- Heather Braum
I do like save libraries. I think most of the public if you asked them would say they already "support" libraries and probably are not aware of budget cuts etc. If we say "Save libraries" people might perk up more and realize the situation is more serious.
- Peter Coyl
true peter :) they probably aren't. i like savelibraries.org, too.
- Heather Braum
Since this is for brainstorming (and not to hijack the thread) but I have thought for a long time that the Library Schools in America should partner with the Libraries in their towns to offer more internships I just think about LA and Philly. If UCLA and Drexel had partnered with the city library system to allow the MLS students to get credit for an internship (probably unpaid) at a...

- Peter Coyl
We have savelibraries.org! Now to find hosting.
- Lori Reed
Lori: I use GoDaddy.com for my domain and it seems to work well and is fairly cheap.
- Peter Coyl
That's who I use. Seeing if I can apply my free credits from another site.
- Lori Reed
Jeff: I agree. It isn't about saving one Library system, but saving them all. And really its more about ensuring that the service and access is available to those who need it. And even more its about educating the Lawmakers and Budget Writers of the value and need of Libraries.
- Peter Coyl
I agree too and am trying to focus on the bigger picture. The tagline I have for the Facebook group is "When one library is in trouble, ALL libraries are in trouble."
- Lori Reed
Does anyone know the backstory on this photo? If this happened in an Islamic community, and I think it did, it is a display of remarkable courage and questionable judgment. Either way, the backstory must me worth a read.

Holy-wow! So good to hear that everyone is OK!
- JA Castillo
Oh wow. I'm glad everyone's okay. You must be relieved.

Poor kid is traumatzed, says he doesn't want to get his license when he turns 16 in May. We've been going through a bunch of drama here at home lately, just so glad this wasn't any more serious. Thanks, all.
- MLx
from fftogo
Agh!! SO glad everyone is ok, and hugs for you too. If it's any consolation I didn't get my license the year when I turned 16 in May either but later & I don't think that scarred me for life.

Wah, so scary. His hesitation is entirely understandable. He'll get over it. And being in a car accident *does* make one a more careful driver. I didn't learn to drive until I was 20, I think (grew up in Boston).
- Laura Norvig
I pay online but I prefer to get paper bills as well. I like the reminders to come in the mail, in case I overlook a due date. I don't have the payments deducted automatically because I'm bad at keeping track of my checking balance.
- m9m, Crone of FriendFeed
I wish I got paid on the 1st and 15th, seems like it would be easier to set them up automatically. And yes, I want the paper bills, at least for a while.
- MLx
Yeah, same here. I get paid every other Wednesday. I have "early month" and "late month" bills and wild cards like quarterly water bills and car insurance and house taxes that I pay on a split schedule.
- m9m, Crone of FriendFeed
I have enough of a buffer in my account that I can have payments deducted automatically and not worry about the balance, so that's what I do for anything regular - phone/internet, electricity, house tax, insurance, and the full balance of my credit card. Otherwise I'd forget something for sure.
- Deborah Fitchett
i've been doing most of them for years - the ones that are (roughly) the same amount are easy. I set them to deduct automatically from my Quicken, so things balance almost without my intervention. The variable ones I pay manually, but still online.
- $tephanie•Cog$ciLibrarian
i was in band for a couple years, but in my small high school, the same people did everything - sports, student government, prom committee, national honor society, whatever
- Christina Pikas
No. I did play varsity golf all 4 years, though. I hated it, but it made my golfer grandparents happy (my grandpa was pretty sick about that time. I'd go see him after matches and talk through each hole with him). And somehow I got suckered into a couple of academic teams. I have no musical talents, though.
- Katy S
Oh, and I hung out with drama geeks at my first high school. Because the orchestra was too lame to have geeks.
- Catherine Pellegrino
Oh, and I suppose I was also an all-around freak. My class voted me most likely to join the criminal underground. My male counterpart was the school's biggest drug dealer. A year after I graduated, I learned that the entire freshman cheerleading squad was scared of me. Had I only known, I could have used my powers more wisely.
- Katy S
I did a year of band in HS because I loved it from MS, but the instructor was so shit I packed it in and switching to technical theatre (my end was set building and stage dressing). I also did Academic Decathlon but we were so shit it wasn't considered nerdy. I suppose I was also a Travel Club nerd - I was one of the few students who went to Europe every year w/the school.
- Soup in a TARDIS
Choir geek all through high school--with the Madrigal costume to prove it; also Brain Game, Academic Decathlon and Academic Super bowl; oh...and newspaper for a couple semesters
- Hedgehog
Serious band geek (flute/piccolo section leader, marching band and concert band) and academic bowl geek (I was the *manager* for jeebus sake). But also played softball and was on swim team.
- Kirsten
After the high school band director made it clear just how great my clarinet playing actually was (they didn't call it "remedial band," but...), I happily became an NFL geek. (Not football: Forensics--competitive speaking: debate, extemp, impromptu.)

The girl you always want to get with, but never seem to meet her standards. She is a tease, and keeps you wanting more. If you do end up with her (LUCKY BASTARD), she is an amazing kisser. This girl dreams big, and knows what she wants.

I like just about everything in that movie. Its mythology—especially the Ellen Jamesians—seems like real history.

That movie came out when I was a freshman in college. It was quite formative. This explains so much. lol.
