http://www.google.com/reader... I'm glad you asked this right now. I just realized that several people are following me and I didn't even know it. I hope it hasn't been this way for long!
- Michael Fidler
Just noticed that Reader now allows grouping of people you follow! Wondering: is Reader going to become a competitor (instead of complement) to FriendFeed?
- Chris Rogers
@rogersdc / Chris, Google Reader is obviously been trying to become more social, but I'd really like to see FF come out with a bookmarklet that makes sub'ing RSS feeds to FF easier/faster. Right now it's a manual process involving either a new Group/Room or Imaginary Friend. Should be 2 clicks tops.. Also see: http://friendfeed.com/alexsch...
- Alex Schleber
Here is mine : http://www.google.fr/reader.... I share (mainly on French sites and blogs) about libraries, literature and arts, human and social sciences, photography :-)
- Nadine Pestourie
LOL here we go again :o) http://www.google.com/reader... I share a lot of blogs and funny stuff that I read, it's neat how I can share and it gets posted all over by friendfeed.
- David Gross
http://www.google.com/reader... - I share items about productivity, gaming, movies, and misc. stuff from the Google "cool" via Recommendations feed. Thanks Kol for starting this thread because I've been trying to cut down on the number of feeds I subscribe to and instead just follow interesting people.
- Dusty Edenfield
Svartling: good point about adding people to groups. I noticed I couldn't comment on items that were shared by some users.
- Dusty Edenfield
I've (we) written a lot of more good tips on how to use Google Reader in Google Reader comments. It's too bad we don't have permalinks in Greader so we can share our notes and comments. Otherwise I could have posted a link here. Here are some on friendfeed: http://friendfeed.com/svartli...
- Svartling
The conversation is really blowing up (in a good way) on Reader. The most important reminder currently is to set up groups and allow commenting. That is NOT on by default!
- Vince DeGeorge
Thank you all. I think I have subscribed you all now (except those feed in languages I don't understand) Here is mine again: http://www.google.com/reader...
- Svartling
I've started to follow a few of the people here but there's quite a few, so will take me a while :) - My currently fairly bare feed is: http://www.google.com/reader...
- Roy Herrod
There are a few entries here you might like to read to help you. This one: http://ff.im/6CkQj explains about adding people to groups to allow them to comment and why some don't stay in groups. In this one: http://ff.im/6F9pQ I suggest a way to track a large number of shared items using PostRank. This: http://ff.im/6Ci0P and this: http://ff.im/6AM35 has a few tips on using GReader as a lifestreaming service. And this: http://ff.im/6EMT1 gives a few examples of GReader bundles.
- Kol Tregaskes
Those of you above whom I already follow on FF/Twitter/etc., I've subscribed to your feeds. As for the rest of you: if you follow me on GReader, I'll follow you back.
- Dennis Jernberg
I'm sharing some pages now, including a few of my past blog entries.
- Dennis Jernberg
Because I have issues with data duplication, I have merged this list with the google reader shares room feeds. You can view the Google spreadsheet at http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc...
- Rob Diana
There are a bunch of shared feeds that I could not resolve the Google username for because they did not have a named profile set up.
- Rob Diana
tristanhambling, your link didn't work. :-(
- Kol Tregaskes
It would be really handy to have all these shared feeds as an opml file. Has anyone added everyone? Care to export an opml of the shared feeds?
- Paul Jacobson
I'm http://www.google.com/reader... Not really comfortable with the custom URL though since it can only be your gmail username. Makes it really easy for spamspiders I think.
- TobiasVerhoog.com
Tobias, possibly but not had any problems myself though Gmail has the best spam filters around so I probably not noticed. ;-)
- Kol Tregaskes
http://www.google.com/reader... mostly webdev, photography news, music, world news which i get interested. plus half of them may be article in Japanese. sorry. :-p
- browneyes
http://www.google.com/reader... - OK I'm in. Late as always. Will post my thoughts, feedback and pleading requests for help over in Google Reader so please follow me over there. Eat your own dog food and all that.
- Andy C
MF/Kol = I live in Kingston on Thames. It's OK apart from the traffic (continually gridlocked) and the shops (girls just lurve them). Handy for getting into London both airports and out to the Thames Valley for work type things. Richmond Park and the river in walking distance is great too.
- Andy C
Andy, Richmond Park and the others around there are the appeal really. Good place to go photographing and cycling while being very close to London I think.
- Kol Tregaskes
Teddington (across the river from Kingston Upon Thames, is where I think I'd like to live. Just 'cos it's cheaper than everywhere else around it. :-)
- Kol Tregaskes
@Kol many years ago, we made the mistake of asking an estate agent in Surbiton whether it was any cheaper than Kingston. She replied 'No - of course not. We are on the fast line to Waterloo' and looked at us as if we were dog excrement.
- Andy C
I've checked rental prices in the area several times over the last 2 years and Teddington is definitely cheaper. I'm not buying, no way I can afford that. ;-) All a pip-dream anyway, need a steady job and I've not had that for a while. :-(
- Kol Tregaskes
anyone use google reader on windows mobile professional? I cant seem to get it to work and when I try to go to the mobile site it takes me to the regular site.
- David Gross
Nope, sorry can't help you there, David.
- Kol Tregaskes

LSW for providing me for professional context and personal connections with folks I might not have met otherwise, many of whom have become my true blue friends.

A meaningful, challenging job that I love in a library that takes its mission seriously with awesome colleagues. Librarianship and Libraryland are evolving and I'm proud and excited to be part of it.

My friends, my family, my job, forests and rivers and mountains and stars, and books and words and computers and the internet and all the things they have brought me, not the least of which are you good people here.

Friends, family, having a life I enjoy. LSW, which means a lot to me working at home, outside a library (but still very much in libraryland). And I love that the US has this holiday.
- Fiona Bradley
Still having a job I enjoy and not having to take furlough days. Having co-workers I enjoy seeing every day. Having a family that loves and supports me. Having a wide professional community I enjoy interacting with, who entertain and inform me every chance they get. And grapefruit juice.

I'm thankful for everything. Which sounds kinda lazy, but I don't want to sound like a five year old saying goodnight prayers. ("and God bless Mom and Dad and Santa and Nintendo and my dog and Jenny at school and... etcetcetc.")

Health, family, friends & acquaintances... DJF: Twice in a month? Why on earth would you do that? (Actually, we're cheating: Hosting dinner for 16...and using honey-baked ham.)

Insurance that covers migraine medication. Did not quite make it out of town before wave of migraine nausea hit. Barely made it back home without incident. Took an Imitrex, told the girls to order Jimmy John's, emptied contents of stomach and said I'd be ready to go in an hour or so. I would be so much less functional without migraine meds.
- Rochelle Rochelle
Oh, ugh, Rochelle. I do hope you feel better soon.

That I'm finally almost well, that I can do things like spontaneously arrange for a trip to Egypt, and while I'm not sure it feels like TG weather, I'm thankful the rain we're getting today is not snow.

Oh, jeez, Rochelle! I'm so sorry! I got hit by a migraine on Monday, so I feel ya.

I think I'm just about good to go again. Will just have to deal with heavier traffic. It was a bad one--they usually don't come on quite so violently. Bleh. Will wave to Dorthea when I cruise through Madison in about 3 hours.

Also thankful for wonderful children, husband and friends. When I'm not bad-dizzy, head-splodey and projectile-urping. :-) And gravy.

just this moment: very grateful we found a veterinarian that we like. it's tough in a new place finding good health care providers. first vet we saw was meh. this one was in the same league as the awesome vet we had up north. good health, and good health care (and $$ to pay for same), ftw.

The Great Google Wave invite thread. Anyone who wants an invite post your Gmail address here and anyone who has invites available please use to invite the people on this list. There are also a bunch of requests in the Invites group here: http://friendfeed.com/invites
I have a few but holding them for a few people who have already asked me. I'm at kolint [at] googlewave [dot] com btw. A pain I know but if you can, could you update your comment when you have an account or just delete your comment. Ta! :-) EDIT: Try this site for invites: http://googlewaveinvites.com/
- Kol Tregaskes
Are people on this list getting invites or at least been told they have an invite on the way? You might have to be patient, it could take a long time for one to come through.
- Kol Tregaskes
Adam, yep agree. Maybe because I did that (month ago though) helped me get mine through from Vijay so quickly!
- Kol Tregaskes
@Kol, the invitation process seems to be based on nominations. For example, everytime someone nominates/invites you, you get bumped up the queue for an account until you're at the top and you get sent an invite by the team
- Ysabel Legaspi
Ysabel, ah I see, So lots of people must have nominated me. Darn, so a few users I have nominated could be waiting a looooong time. :-(
- Kol Tregaskes
if that voting system is right I'm very annoyed. I asked for an invite months ago, now all the numpties are all over it I'm not going to get a look in. It's like I've been sat at the front of a shop queue and everyone's just walking right past me into the shop. I am British but I detest both queuing and waiting, so this is pretty tough going
- Toby Graham
Like most other people, yesterday I wasn't aware of that I «needed» a Google Wave invitation this badly...but now I am!!! quackofdawn at gmail dot com

neternity@gmail.com and i promise to send a wave of 100,901 twitter followers to your doorstep each of whom will have averaged 1 tweet in their existence - this might not get me an invite but surely it will get some notice - must have that something special - my google wave invite special sauce ingredient is twitter juice PS Not to be construed as an offer, not valid in any of the 53 US states, do not try this at home, caution: contents are hot.
- Ross Button

I've been too busy to get on FF the last few days....figures something important happening and I missed it! I knew about Google Wave but didn't know there would be a thread to post a request. In any case, better late than never, I'd love an invite at madeliene2007 at gmail.com. :)

How does anyone know if someone has already been invited? You could go back and edit your comment when you receive an invitation, but since that takes days, it could be ages before you know.
- marziah
I've not even had a nomination, RK. At google dot com I'm suezanne , in the event anyone wants to make a nomination. I've asked before on friendfeed. It's kind of humiliating to beg.

i have decided that if i do indeed get an invite, i will decline, forward my gmail account to windows live and put ie back as my default browser and i will bing it

It started good with the mouse-less instructions to get to the "How to use the mouse" section. However, to *play* the "How to use the mouse", you have to "Click to play." ??? (Oh, and it pauses whenever you switch to another tab or app.)

I'm sure it will fade quickly. Right now I'm sad & pissed off at what jerks most men are when it comes to women. I'm hoping I'm better than that, but slightly worried that when push comes to shove, I'm not.
- josh neff, geek at large
clean naked with music blasting! great way to get to know the neighbours ; )
- jambina
when push comes to shove, a lot of people, not just men, can be jerks. it's a sad fact of life. but as Mary Carmen said, that you're aware and worried puts you ahead of the pack.
- pea
I just try to focus on how I treat others and try to have empathy when my friends are hurting. Other than that, I can't fix stupid or mean or hateful. But I can counterbalance it with kindness and generosity and love.
- Mary Carmen
Twitter appears to be down for me. Attempted to access it via web with both accounts; no luck. TweetDeck and Seemic isn't pulling up Twitter; nor can I access any Twitter pages. Web gives an error that reads "problems loading page connection was reset". However, the "IsTwitterDown" page says it is functioning.
- H0llywoodWh0re
Thank you Bill. However, I tested that site with other social media networks and it's telling me everything is down. Maybe an error within the site.
- H0llywoodWh0re
Thanks everyone. I thought twitter wasn't liking me this morning -- seems it isn't liking quite a few people. :~(
- Dee
Twitter is still down for me. I can't even log in to try and contact someone.
- Dee
Twitter has not released any information in regards to their site being down. I'm going to attempt to contact a few employees to see what I can find out. I'll keep everyone posted. ✽ It also looks like Twitter has been down for some users for 4+ hours (via research)
- H0llywoodWh0re
Twitter is down for me as well. I'm just outside of Toronto.
- B2B Specialist
I'm also golden horseshoe and twitter is down for me. The official status blog does not report anything wrong as of 11:05am EST
- Canageek
They've updated their status site with the following:"We are currently investigating a problem whereby some Twitter clients in widely scattered network locations are unable to connect to twitter.com." They could learn something from Saleforce.com who post their uptime stats.
- B2B Specialist
Thanks B2B Specialist -- I'm relieved to know I'm not going crazy.
- Dee
Kol: That's pretty neat. Wish it was shorter like wave.com or gwave.com (Google owns gwave.com anyway) or something.
- Nick Humphries
i think this @googlewave.com email address is a temporary thing during testing. after it goes live you should be able to just use it with your google account. at least that's what i think:)
- Taylan Aydınlı
if only you could bold an announcement in FF like you can in Wave :D [oh, and my username on Wave is the splendiforously original "adamlasnik"]
- Adam Lasnik
Guys, please read the title and the first comment. This is not a request for invites. This is for users who already have an account and want to share their account name. For invites see this thread: http://ff.im/91M9R

My Wave ID is erier2003@googlewave.com. Feel free to add me and we can Wave!

- Ahsan Ali aka. Slick
I'm sniffling because I don't have a google wave nick. Despite two invites, there is still nothing in my inbox. I am not in with the in crowd. :(

Wow. Thanks Kol!!! Here's mine for all ya'll to add - walt.ruppar@googlewave.com - although I just added like 150 of the above. While also deleting my pity pleads for an invite... ;-)
- Walt Ruppar
In addition to drupalish sites, how about blogs that have multiple authors? Wikis of course, but you already know that as the queen of http://www.libsuccess.org
- Joe
possibly screenshare apps like Dimdim or Yuuguu?
- D0r0th34
hate to say it, but people are still using email. with attached word docs, even! (this perhaps should be the evil to which all these awesome things are compared.)
- Elaine Nelson
Could shared, common tags be called content collaboration? It's a method, not a tool, but still...
- MLx
I was going to say something similar to Marianne. It's not full on content collaboration, but curating a collection through delicious can be very helpful for building a set of resources that might become part of a final content piece. The versatility - ability to RSS-feed the resources to Friendfeed or wherever - makes it very convenient.
- Laura Norvig
