Why everything is becoming a game? http://bit.ly/cEZhWV ... until Matthew Sobol dies
I met Stuart Yeh http://www.cehd.umn.edu/EdPA... at a party. His research in elementary school teaching of reading and arithmetic shows that rapid assessment is one of the most cost-effective ways to enhance student performance. Two of the gaming aspects that make this work: immediate feedback and being able to level up, so the current task is always optimally challenging. This can create a state of flow http://www.amazon.com/gp... - Ruchira S. Datta
I've always wondered if there are some elements of gaming, e.g. reward systems, that we can bring to education. Unlike research, in school you have defined endpoints. My fear is that some folks will start gaming the system and I am not sure our educators are smart enough to recognize that - Deepak Singh

Deepak, maybe the system should be designed in such way it rewards gaming? Hacking the system is a great learning experience (stimulating innovative solutions too). - Pawel Szczesny
:-) that's why I added the Matthew Sobol bit. Just in case the hack itself becomes the game and we're all in it - Deepak Singh
