Thanks to everybody who participated in the MOBhat experiment. I'll be turning it off for a while. I'll be sending you a survey. Please fill it out! Thanks again!
First, you don't suck. What I did that triggered the bug? Second, I did recreated my account and seemed to work at Saturday but now that I am trying to login from work and I am unable to. In fact I had to disable MOBhat so I can read my FF feeds because login dialog was popping up constantly. Now I suck!
- Saxtus
The bugs was that FF which are capitialized like Saxtus are okay in someplaces and then saxtus in others in the FF system. Totally not your fault. I'll look into the login issues. Thanks!

There are some changes to the UI. Using SocialTags consistently as the terminology for a "hat" or "facet". Updated the SocialTags switcher (next to MOBhat logo) and the Retag this item (in More menu by an item).
Ideally I think the need to retag items would be decreased if I had more insight into my current facet (without having to go into FF). I suggested a FireFox add-on with a pull-down menu that showed my current tag and the option to switch.
I've shyed away from using the Ubiquity command line, but it seems like if you make it through the MOBhat install gauntlet, you'll be able to handle it. What do you think? I can add a command socialtags that shows this info and allows you to pick a new one.

For the current phase of the experiment, it's out of scope. This is an excellent idea though. I would want this eventually. It makes the UI a lot more complicated.

On Viewing the page
- I find myself confused at what Im looking at... so some suggestions
- remove the hidden items (currently marked with a hat) from the list view, only show those in the current facet, users can use the top bar to show/hide other items
I can remove all the in page grouped items hidden hat icon/links, since this is already at the top of the page as "Hidden Below" links. Does everybody think that would be useful?

On Tagging existing Items - Add Most popular Social Tags (from my friends) to the picker so I may pick the same ones if we have similar interests. - Allow me to create a new tag directly in the menu where I am retagging an item - Refresh page upon saving the retagged item (so I know it worked) - What if I want to tag one thing under two tags?...
- soup up the information in the top bar - show the tag, the number of items, and the last updated date.
- provide the option to show/hide uncategorized items - since this is not a facet, you can visually treat that a little differently
What do I do next? Make sure you set up some feeds in FriendFeed. You can add Flickr, Delicious, whatever you use on a regular basis. Visit my profile or any of the members in this room. This way you can see lots of different MOBhat's and see how the filtering works.
There is an error when I go to your profile... so MOBhat chokes and doesn't load on your profile rico99. I'll look into it.

The issue was that Ubiquity wasn't installed. Tom is up and running now. The code doesn't handle a user who has no facets... I'll fix that. A "happy page" would be good that diagnoses these install issues.

The other thing I can't figure out is how to classify unclassified items. You do it in the video, but I can't remember how it was done. It's not very apparent in the interface.
Next feature - would you rather see 1) real-time work, 2) have the "power off" button stay powered off between page loads, or 3) have faster page loading of MOBhat? or 4) Something else?
More Details on #1 - The real-time and even the general page updates sometimes blow away MOBhat from the screen. I need to handle this case, so that MOBhat will work on the new beta version of FriendFeed.

Is it really only for FF 3.0.8? I'm on 3.1b3 and I'm not seeing anything. There are two unittest fails: Warning: Actual=(ozten) but Expected=(oztenz): 'We should still find username'
Warning: assert programming error, unknown type for actual=undefined expected=undefinedmessage=null
3.1bs works, I am running that sometimes for better Ubiquity errors. The unit tests are okay ( I was testing the assertEquals and checked it in, no bosley to kick me). Can you hit my profile page and wait a few seconds? http://friendfeed.com/ozten

It's odd but the Firebug with tracing enabled seems to fix this... Like http://getfirebug.com/release... If I can isolate the issue i'll fix it or file a bug.

Finding the way you create and delete hats is a problem. I think there needs to be a better hint than just the drop down arrow. I'm open to ideas. The way it currently works is you click the word next to the logo which has a little black arrow and your cursor turns into a menu cursor.

Lookin' good! I've noticed some glitches with friendfeed losing the widget when it does it's autoupdating and it's a shame it doesn't load faster :P but it looks great! How are hats defined? It seems magical in the screencast and I'm wondering why so many of my contacts' other items aren't organized into hats. I'm also a little bit frustrated that...
I'm noticing the homepage of friendfeed is especially slow. Loading someone's profile seems much faster. I will look into that.

You define new hats with the "SocialTags Picker". Your Current Facet is "Webdev" and there is a little arrow next to it. See my comment to Kiam below. Also I have a screenshot at the bottom of this page. It's a usability issue :)

So where it says "InternetGeek" and a little arrow. This is your current hat. Click it and a dialog appears "All Facets". This is the Hat switcher. You can create a new hat in the text box "Create A new Facet". I should rename this to "All SocialTags" and "Create a new SocialTag"
