Samsung: Galaxy Tab has leg up on Apple iPad -
""Honestly, I don't see anything [about the Galaxy Tab] that is weaker than the iPad," W.P. Wong, head of Samsung Mobile's product planning team, said at a press conference here at the IFA electronics show. And in several ways, he said, the Galaxy Tab is stronger. It permits both picture-taking and video chat with front- and back-mounted cameras. Its weight of 380 grams (0.8 pounds) is considerably less than the iPad, which weighs 680 grams (1.5 pounds) without 3G and 730g (1.6 pounds) with it." - imabonehead from Bookmarklet
"Along with the Galaxy Tab and the Android-powered Galaxy S smartphones, Samsung has its own Bada operating system to cultivate for smartphones. And the Samsung Apps effort for what Samsung calls smart TVs is another effort at building a strong developer ecosystem: Samsung announced Thursday it will pay 500,000 euros ($641,000) to developers in Europe in a follow-up to contests it has run in Asia and the United States." - imabonehead
Bring me a Wifi only Model for under $300 and I'm in. - A Gunny named Slickback
They're not packing the super AMOLED screens though. Once you've gone AMO there's no going back. :-* - Adrian from Android
I KNOW. I can't LOOK at my iPod touch anymore. - A Gunny named Slickback
Same here... it looks all grey and fuzzy. #firstworldproblems - Adrian from Android
I wonder how good the new iPod looks in comparison. #firstworldproblemforsure - A Gunny named Slickback
Mmm-huh. Just put Angry Birds side-by-side with Galaxy and iPod and oh what a difference. Shooting two birds at once is pretty cool btw. - Micah from Android
It will be sharper but smaller and the colors will not look as insane. - Adrian from Android
Amoled must be super expensive. Do you have any tablets on your short list? I want one but don't want to pay ipad prices. - A Gunny named Slickback
Just this one. Its gotta play nice with all video codecs as a bottom line, which hopefully a lot of them will do. Its really early. - Adrian from Android
I have my eye on the cruz from velocity micro and also whatever MSI ends up doing - A Gunny named Slickback
I dont trust samsung - Nif (•̪●)
Well... all I know is my epic blows the doors off any htc device I've ever used. Even the software integration is pretty solid on this. Wayyyy more stable than the EVO. And yeah I've done plenty of laughing at the Instinct. - Adrian from Android
Are you using Touchwiz? - A Gunny named Slickback
Launcher pro, so there is very little visible TW left. I am totally ok with it. - Adrian from Android
I like the enhancements to the notification bar with wifi and bluetooth controls easy to get to - A Gunny named Slickback
You'rre lucky btw Adrian, nobody else can turn Touchwiz off. It's the only launcher loaded on all the other SGS phones. Thankfully other launchers are easy to load. - A Gunny named Slickback
I didn't turn it off, I just installed LP and got rid of all the ugleh stock icons. Now it looks better, iz all. Like I said, I like what Sam did with TW as far as functionality and simplification goes. HTC went WAYYY over the top with Sense. Oooh... and a built in task manager. How nice is that? Longpress home and there it is. Touch it, hit end all. Done! Same number of steps to use Advanced Task Killer AND it doesn't take up a spot on your desktop. EDIT: actually its one extra press... too bad they didn't make end all available when you longpress Home. Still, its not bad at all! - Adrian
I do'n have that task manager. They're working on bringing it to the cappy - A Gunny named Slickback
This is looking more tempting. Maybe what the 7" UMPC should have been. I hope it's not locked to a plan. - Rodfather
It's looking more and more like the Tab is going to be heavily subsidized. I HATE this trend. - A Gunny named Slickback
Hopefully it will be like the streak and it sells without a plan. I'm guessing around $600-700 - Rodfather
Yep wifi only please... root, tether, done. I would spend up to $300 for a 7" device with a *good* LCD screen and $400 with a Super AMOLED screen. Now for 10" device... add a hundred to those price points and I'm sold. - Adrian
Cruz Tablet 7 inch $300. There is no 3G radio and a Capacitive screen. The *gulp* Archos 10.1 looks enticing too. - A Gunny named Slickback
News flash. Samsung make a lot of Apple's components. Such as, ohh, I don't know, the A4 chip? - Mo Kargas
If you wish to be pedantic, the A4 is ARM IP. So yeah, not designed by Apple either. - Mo Kargas
Didn't apple buy an ARM chip fab? PA Semi? thought the A4 was theirs. - A Gunny named Slickback
Selling this exclusively though mobile carriers sounds like a mistake. It does look cool. - Rafael Robayna
