why does Donnie Darko comes to mind?
- VAL D. Zone
It does look a bit like the Frank mask, doesn't it? Another reason I like our guild crest so much. :D
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
I am pleased with how FF meta-tastic this is. We are World of Warcraft guild formed with FFers, based off an in-joke from the FFundercats, featuring a logo from a joke from another FF thread.
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
hey mutherfucka! (from the mofo up north)
- sofarsoShawn
Love it! There is an awesome Roots store at the MSP airport (minneapolis/st paul)
- Nicholas Kreidberg
I can't help but giggle, because if I wore a tee that said ROOTS here in Australia, well, I might attract some unwanted advances o_O .... also, Hi Bren :D
- Penny
word, Micah :) whuttup, Mofo?!?! The Roots store we went to in BC was sweet!
- Bren, Not Grinchy
Is Roots doing the Winter Olympics gear for the US again?
- Give 'Em DBizness
hiya, Penny! Why is that? Share the Aussie stuff :)
- Bren, Not Grinchy
I know they are doing the Canadian gear...I don't know about the US
- Bren, Not Grinchy
I'll have you know I paid for my degrees as a sexbot.
- Mo Kargas
'Root' here, in Aussie slang, means to have sex with. That's why we Aussies giggle when Americans say they are rooting for something (childish immature I know, but hey :D )
- Penny
Well dang. I really liked the Roots gear from the last winter games. Oh well. I'm sure they'll be looking spiffy this time around too.
- Give 'Em DBizness
A lot of the stuff is cool. I'm not a sports gear kind of person (I usually end up looking lumpy in it), but I was seriously coveting the Cowichan sweaters and the hoodies when I went by there today.
- cecily
I turned 30 at the beginning of this year. It's no big deal.

The real crisis: I'm suddenly becoming David Wooderson. "High school girls (Me: And all college girls): I get older, they stay the same age"
- Mike Nayyar
mmmmm Denny's pancakes. I remember a time when they were as big as your head and only cost a nickel! That was before forks were invented so we had to eat them with our hands. Damn hot they were too, not like today. Cold as ice now.......and small.
- suzanne
you youngins this old hag is 60.......
- VAL D. Zone
i'm more than twice your age and still rockin'. you're far from done, lad. :)
- Joe Silence is not dead
Mike Nayyar I love dazed and confused
- VAL D. Zone
I was rocking til I got arthritis so bad I had to quit work and everything but in my mind I am still jumping around the concerts and traveling...........I miss all that the most but at least I have my FF to keep me company.............
- VAL D. Zone
Yeah, the hyper cracked out guy with the, " Yeah I've spent the last two nights sleeping in a ditch look", he's probably hammered ALL the time
- sofarsoShawn
I got to meet him in Mesa a few weeks ago. Actually a pretty decent guy.
- FF's Bubba of Arizona
I'm an Otter.. but could be a snake or porcupine. I feel like I should float on my back and crack some abalone now.
- Rodfather
What's too bad is that I saw robot's results and chuckled http://friendfeed.com/nicerob... I thought, "Oh that sucks, I bet I'll be something cool like an eagle." :(
- Anna Haro
I got Elephant ! F YEAH. I might also be an Owl.
- Mo Kargas
MO STOP STEALING MY ANIMAL IDENTITIES >.<
- Anna Haro
I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together... but I am definitely NOT the Egg man! (There have never been eggs employed as any part of any of my sexual forays, thank you.)
- Mark Jepsen
Well Mark, you haven't eggactly lived then..
- Mo Kargas
I wanted so badly to be an elephant, but I'm either an otter or a bat. In fact, I'm pretty sure otter describes what I want to believe about myself (and try to project to others), but bat is what I really am :P "Decidedly untraditional, they are prone to flights of extraordinary fantasy" (off topic, I can't believe I wasn't already subbed to you! really thought I was...)
- Lo doing much better
I cannot take pictures of my house to save my life (also, we haven't even finished the bedroom flooring or moulding anywhere so I haven't put everything away yet) but the tree is still standing. I decided to put it in the corner.
Rochelle, it is! But it looks so much better. Ben still has his little corner, but it's more organized now and we moved the Mackies. Maybe I'll take a picture of it and show it. Also, it's weird that the walls are all bare and stuff. I haven't put anything back up because I am thinking about framing my own photos instead. Er, the old ones above the fireplace were my own but they were from a disposable camera when I was 16. Heh.
- joey
Good lord, that is nothing like I was expecting in a joey house. (and I thought you just told Rochelle you moved the Maccabies on first skim)
- Matthew DeVries
Hahaha busted. That's my 'YA/children's' section of the shelf. Harry Potter and A Series of Unfortunate Events is next to it. That bookshelf is full of detritus. The other one is more organized and has literature, reference, theory, and textbooks (I'm a packrat, especially with books). Then there are all the books in the bedroom that haven't been sorted yet.
- joey
Joe, Ben is. But we primarily use the 450s when he is DJing (but we have to keep them very low) and we got them so that we could use them as monitors (or small second room sound) when we threw raves.
- joey
Joey, I mean different angle than I look at all day. :P
- Rochelle
Oh holy crap, how did I miss the Harry Potter and Lemony Snicket books?! :D I have a similar shelf myself. :) Guilty pleasures rock. :D
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
Oh, haha Rochelle. Right. But it's also all rearranged. Which you already knew.
- joey
tinypants, agreed. I get a lot of that right now because I'm writing a children's/middle-aged/whatever book for fun, so I get to read all kinds of stuff as 'research.' I just finished the Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel books and am reading the Artemis Fowl ones now because my brother liked those. Oh, I also just read The Mysterious Benedict Society. I also love Peter Pan and...

Joey - Something more bohemian, like a historical place, a former church or fire station that was run down and being renovated.
- Matthew DeVries
Haha, Matthew. I don't have that kind of money. If you notice, it's like all Ikea that we've had for many years. It is lacking art, though, as we just tore the place apart for new floors and moved everything out.
- joey
Hence the run down part, so you'd be turning it from crud to great.
- Matthew DeVries
Oh, I already am. This place was built in the 1970s and destroyed by former tenants. I believe I've posted a photo of my heinous kitchen cabinets before. And the wiring is remarkably messed up.
- joey
Your living room is so nice and open, looks great.
- Mitch
Mitch, thanks. The layout of the place is very strange. We just rearranged it to make it open after we had our floors redone and I like it so much better now! It was really awkward and cramped before. There is a long way to go with various things but we are working on it.
- joey
Katie, it's also our 'dining room' and that left corner area is Ben's space (office/music stuff). When you walk in, there is a big open area. and then a narrow hallway to the rest of the place. It's really awkward.
- joey
I love the windows and even though it's an "everything room" (we have one too that included my sewing and crafting stuff) it seems very open.
- Nurse Katie
I love the windows but they are single-paned and so cold. And in the summer, it's a greenhouse. Heh. We have an awesome pond back there, though, where we watch the ducks and geese. Before we got the new floors, we had the television angled in the opposite corner (because that's where the cable comes in) and the couch parallel to it in the middle of the room. It was pretty cramped. I'm liking it this way much better and it was such a simple change.
- joey
Hey, some friends of mine here in SF have *exactly* that same couch. Weird sorta deja-vuey thing seeing it. :-)

Thanks, peeps. I've been walking around with a buzzed head since May, but it's getting chilly so I decided to work on growing my half-fro back for the winter.
- Derrick
Dood...liking the tight cut. A little fade in there?
- JA Castillo
I caught the pic before the caption and was about to be all like "Damn! Look at Derrick all lined up and isht!"Now, my comment makes even more sense. LOL. I'm about to try and grow a half-fro as well, but it's cuz my head is just shaped funny and I wanted to try something new :)
- Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
Trying to remember if I have seen your hair before. It's always hats, hats, hats with you.
- s t e v e
Steve, in the summer I tend to buzz all my hair off. I do like hats a bit, but I've been growing my hair out cause it's too cold (at least for me by Los Angeles standards). I'm actually not wearing a hat today.
- Derrick
That's clean, I like it. I should print this out to take to my barber so he gets the lengths right (I want something basically exactly like this, and he just can't get it quite right).
- Chieze Okoye
So... I can't help but wonder... I keep hearing the lyrics to Cat Steven's 1970's hit in television commercials. The song goes "Well, if you want to sing out, sing out...
and if you want to be free, be free...
Cause there's a million things to be, you know that there are..." I wonder if now, as Yusef Islam, he continues that mindset?
I was reading up on him on Wikipedia earlier this year and he's a really interesting guy, actually. (I say that as someone who is anything *but* a fan of Islam.)
- Spidra Webster
Can't help but think fondly of Cat Stevens. Lots of memories...
- Jason Wehmhoener
The reason I pose the question is because of the Sharia Law thing, etc. with women required to wear veils and burkas and whatnot. I know that he is involved with Islamic philanthropic activity, etc. BTW, I'm not sure that I would want to be held to things I said 30+ years ago. But it's a fair question.
- Mark Jepsen
I don't really know anything about Yusef's religious beliefs, but be careful about painting too broad of a brush about Islam. Look into Sufism if you want to see another perspective of what it can all mean. As in most religions, there are multiple points of view, it's just that fundamentalists tend to speak the loudest.
- Jason Wehmhoener
People change. Philosophies change. Even religion and its interpretation can change. Religious adherents aren't some cloned, uniform goose-stepping horde.
- Mo Kargas
I agree. I've worked with people from Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Malaysia, and I observed a considerable range of 'social" attitudes. I realize that generalizing among Muslims is full of distortion as with generalizing among Christians. That's why I wondered specifically about Cat Stevens, because his departure from the music scene was rather abrupt, and I haven't heard much from him since.
- Mark Jepsen
He was on The Colbert Report within the last year. I think he's been much more active in recent years.
- Spidra Webster
Wikipedia says he started making music again in the 90s
- Jason Wehmhoener
Actually, I'm more bothered by seeing Whoopi Goldberg on the Android myTouch commercials. Whenever I see her now I think "It wasn't 'rape rape'". Ick.
- Kevin Fox
Mark, in Islam women are not required to wear veils and burkas. It is not written in Kuran or smth. This is a cultural habit... In Turkey, nobody is required to wear anything, and it is also "illegal to wear" any religious symbols in schools, etc. So I think "free" is the wrong word here. That's why people have voted for an Islamic-rooted party here, even they are not Islamists or even...
- Onur Gündüz
So if someone becomes a muslim, that doesn't mean that he or she is not free anymore :) I am actually an atheist, and it took some time (like 20 years) for me to figure that out. This is about a person's will. How do you define "free" ?
- Onur Gündüz
Onur, I realize that and I agree. My initial point was that certain factions of the Muslim religion seek to impose those additional restrictions, and also I seem to recall that Cat Stevens made some comments in support of that after his abrupt departure from the music scene. My memory may be inaccurate on that, and in any case, it sounds as though he has tempered or moderated his...

- Mark Jepsen
A lot of "that stuff" is cultural so, I would imagine he does in fact want every one to be free. That being said, don't look for him to be singing about it any time soon as most forms of music are forbidden in Islam
- J. Abdul-Qahhar
I think I need to visit J-Wo just to get him to make me one of these
- Mo Kargas
I don't even eat meat and I want that right now.
- joey
Joey... I have a vegie alternative. You get large flat mushrooms and lie them stem up on a try. Put about 2 tablespoons of butter on each with chopped up chilli and salt. Bake for about 30 minutes in a medium oven. They take on the taste and texture of fresh, tender beef.
- Johnny Worthington
Hahaha...I was just mocking the typo of garlic Mo...I eat garlic bread for breakfast...:) Hence being single still... :)
- Bill Heslin
Johnny I was just going to say....substitute grilled Portabello's for the meat..that sounds yummers too
- Bill Heslin
Epic is the only word to describe this. Truly. Epic. I am impressed.

Don't shoot me Santa Claus, I've been a clean living boy, I promise you, did every little thing you asked me to, I can't believe the things I'm going through...

It's all part of the Santa reboot. Hollywood should now do a Santa Origins story, directed by Michael Bay of course.

I'm very excited. To get ready i've been reading all the Arthur Conan Doyle books! :)
- Rachel Lea Fox
Yeah. Not sure why I see him as a Churchill derivative character
- Mo Kargas
Because we've been brainwashed by Hollywood that Watson looks like a Churchill look-a-like...
- Jax
Rachel, based on the trailers I've seen, there won't be much Conan Doyle in this beyond the names 'Sherlock Holmes' and 'John Watson.'
- John Craft
Mark, he was fairly fit but had some issues with his leg in some of the first short stories. However after a year or two of the stories his leg issues disappeared from the stories all together and he ran after Holmes without issue. And Holmes is often described as "being prone to uncommon fits of energy" and doing miraculous things.
- Rachel Lea Fox
John, I would agree based on the previews. Though I do hope they will stick to the original personalities.
- Rachel Lea Fox
Perhaps he snuck into Holmes' cocaine to trim some of the weight off.
- Veronica
"I do hope they will stick to the original personalities." - It looks to me that Guy Ritchie has been as faithful to Conan Doyle, as Cubby Broccoli was to Ian Fleming.
- John Craft
Before Iron Man, only movies i think i watched with him in them is, Us Marshalls and Natural Born Killers
- Fee501st
Even if they don't stick to Doyle's plans, murder mystery + Robert Downey Jr = awesomeness. Fairly sure of it. :) But I can't say I'd imagined Watson looking REMOTELY like Jude Law, I'd have gone stockier.
- Amy
I don't think it's an issue of "Was Watson Jude Law hot?" but more "Can Jude Law make a believable Watson?". From what I've seen on the previews, I think he can. Of course, in the roles Law played when he was younger, he looked more like a mannequin than a hottie to me. He looks much better in this.
- Craig Roth
Ach, he's an ok actor, I'm sure he'll do a decent enough job. :)
- Amy
This is difficult to explain without sounding creepy but... There is nothing as beautiful than a woman who has just showered, in her pajamas, still damp hair and no make up... It's just hard to... well... find or ask people other than Rachael to let me photograph them like this... I know, weird, but you know...
