Does anyone have a feed for the bootlegged audio-only version? - nick
Great show! totally explained Sidewiki and why it is fine and doesn't offend the website owner! - Phillip Molly Malone
Never thought I'd say this, but I'm with Scoble on this one - not that there's anything either of us can do about it. - Richard Carter, FCD from iPhone
funny thing is, Scoble has built a job on doing "side" channels on other peoples content. What is the difference? - William Stacey

Re: TC50: TechCrunch50 founders’ feud: “It’s over” - http://venturebeat.com/2009...
"I can't believe you missed it! You have this report, but you missed the interview between Mike and Jason? Wow! In this although Mike says no to next years event, it seems that Jason is still keen!!! You can see the Video here: http://www.youtube.com/user...... If you ask me its Jason/Mike link baiting at its best!" - Phillip Molly Malone

Robert, could you please explain the hard- and software-setup using for the live-stream? - HansVanRock
Hans: We haven't announced the hardware and software we are using to stream the Gang yet, but for starters it's powered by NewTek Tricaster. - Steve Gillmor
Looking forward to this, and would like to hear about the tech too - Kevin Marks from Android
I'll be asleep on the other side of the world. Let us know when you get the RSS feed up, Steve :) - Edward Coffey
Plans on a downloadable file? I don't think the boss would appreciate me walking around the store with headphones on. :-) - Larry Walker
Clicking the embedded viewer works at any hour in any part of the planet. - Steve Gillmor
Very cool. Thanks Steve. - Larry Walker
Let us know when the bootleg mp3 download gets posted on Friendfeed - Christian Burns from iPhone
RSS please unfollow. - Christian Burns from iPhone
Cool, so I just need to write a script to click that link and record the stream so the file is waiting for me when I sync my MP3 player. Modern technology makes it so much easier than when we had to use clunky old VCRs to record things! - Edward Coffey
you'll be able to download the MP4 as soon as Google fixes a bug they're working on. - Steve Gillmor
Excellent, thanks Steve. (which bug?) - Edward Coffey
Bad Hair Day uses RSS. http://badhair.us/rss.xml - Dave Winer
. @edwardc I am sure the mp3 will be available on the gilmor gang bootleg feed - Christian Burns from iPhone
if everyone insists on bootlegging, then won't worry about Google fixing the bug - Steve Gillmor
no bootlegger me....just need something that will play on my iphone after the fact. :) - Karoli
No bootlegging here either, just need something to show up in iTunes (automatically) with the rest of the podcasts. - PXLated
sounds like you will have at least a few options. I'm not planning to release audio only, so you'll need to either get a blindfold or go bottleg - Steve Gillmor
well, we'll give it a try, see how it rolls. - Karoli
Will there be official 'Gillmor Gang' blindfolds available in the Building 43 gift shop? - Cliff Gerrish
No audio only - Booo! - PXLated
Wait - logo'ed blindfolds at $15/pop is intriguing to m :) - Rob La Gesse
Building 43 GG blindfolds $30 - Steve Gillmor
oh I see Cliff already got there - Steve Gillmor
I'll take 2. it's a bargain these days. :) - Karoli
It's not quite RSS, but it feels the same... - Cliff Gerrish
Option earplug accessories for just 19.95 (plus separate shipping and handling) - Rob La Gesse
John Lennon wore our Firesign Theatre Not Insane button. - Steve Gillmor
Bravos, good to have the show back after your holiday. @stevegillmor are you inviting Leo to play along? - Dave Martin
Curious Steve - Why no audio only? - Seems simple enough to do. - PXLated
Close your eyes - even easier :) - Rob La Gesse
If its video that is released, its video I will take! - Phillip Molly Malone
Can I get a pair of "driver"-style GG blindfolds, please? - Robert J Taylor from iPhone
Attention wise, video is much more expensive than audio. I don't have the money to devote an hour of my eyes and ears to the gill or gang at this time. - Christian Burns from iPhone
Christian, I think what they're saying is that you can put the MP4 on your playback device and listen to it and ignore the video component. I know that works on iPods and iPhones. - Dave Winer
Dave, you are as unproductive as you've ever been. What I've said is that RSS is in the process of being disrupted by micromessaging, and no amount of name calling is going to change that. Your attempts to reinvent RSS will not get traction if you continue to slime the messenger. And having this discussion here underlines how partisan your attacks are. - Steve Gillmor
The message above is out of context because Dave Winer deleted the message to which I am responding. I thought about saving his message and reprinting it below where only the owner of this thread could remove it, but figured it wasn't worth it. This is also why I never respond to anything in a thread Dave owns unless I don't care if it gets erased or the context removed. - Steve Gillmor
Where's the Winer Watcher when you need it? - Matthew Gifford
mmm, popcorn! - Laura Norvig
The iPhone has a bug that will not allow you to download over the air for consuming later mp3s or mp4s unless they are an enclosure to an RSS feed. - Christian Burns from iPhone
once Google fixes their bug (Wednesday) you should be able to download via RSS. - Steve Gillmor
Steve, the msg you're referring to was here just a few seconds, I realized it'd provoke the kind of response it has, and decided I didn't want to go there. Re being unproductive, I've had a cold this week and have been unable to do dev work, but I'm feeling better and expect to releas some new software this week. Don't expect TC to cover it, as usual. Finally Steve as you know the <cloud> element has been in RSS for eight years, hardly a retrofit. - Dave Winer
So did google fix their bug yesterday? Any idea what the Gillmor Gang RSS feed is? - Christian Burns from iPhone
Steve Gillmor

Somebody better update the Wikipedia entry... - Cliff Gerrish

For those on the other side of the planet will you be able to grab the show via RSS - oh I forgot RSS is dead, right? - John Chrisoulakis
So happy GG is coming back (again). Literally the highlight of an otherwise rough day. Don't care what network it's on, as long as Steve gets to herd his intellectually stimulating mix of "cats". Thanks Steve. :) - Dr. Apps from twhirl
Good! - John Wright

I might be able to come out of hiding now... we'll see. - Aron Michalski

Missed the Gang so much and with the NGL Studio, it will be a tough act to follow for the Bad Hair boys :) #TechThursday FTW - Alberto Saavedra

Way to go. Looking forward to it. - Oliver Kohl
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!! - Susan Beebe
This news has made my month! I can't wait... - Chris Aldrich
i'm hoping that timeshifting options will be available - i probably won't ever be able to catch it live - Chris Heath
But, but, but...what about podshow? - Mark Hunter
Very happy to hear this, but I also wonder about RSS support. - Robert
w00t!! - Kevin Nunez
Now that's what I'm talkin' about. - Vezquex: God of FF
Where can I find it? - Richard South
Steve's back! - Harald Felgner
Dave Winer
FB buying FF is bad news for FF users.
Agree totally Dave - Roberto Bonini from iPhone
Why do you think so Dave? - Tim Akinbo
10000% agree, its dreadul and the big boys like Leo and Scoble cant seem to see it! - Mark
Leo laporte says "This is a big step toward an open Facebook. This has been their goal all along: a distributed Facebook." What a Crock of SHITE - Mark
They bought the people! - Mark
yeah... but it is also a smart move, they got the team.. - Rob Sellen :o)
I'm trying to give the FF team the benefit of the doubt...but I'm having a hard time with it as well. - Ken Kennedy
Born to be sold, we were used to say in the new economy era. - Federico Bolsoman
They bought the people. We Stick with that. FF guys are Smart/fast and have deep Google knowledge - Marco Massarotto from iPhone
Woah. I step away from the computer for a couple hours and this is what happens? - Travis B. Hartwell
I agree an independent Friendfeed might be preferable for we few brave FF users. But the writing was on the wall. For most users it's Twitter or Facebook or nothing at all. Aligning with Facebook is smart long term thinking if FB is planning to open up as I am convinced they are. - Leo Laporte from BuddyFeed
Let's hope that FB doesn't block people from using the 'competeition' while on FF. - shelter watch
Seems everything's headed for an autumn war Facebook <> Google Wave - Jordi Soler
At first I like the idea of FF & FB, but now I'm starting to think it's bad for FF - Ray H
hmm, an open, new version of FB that uses all of what makes FF great would be nice. - Dusty Edenfield
Leo's got the right idea, and independence is a myth - Steve Gillmor
Well, how could it possibly be a good thing? - Fleagle
Agree, I'm not a Facebook fan although I try but.. I'd definitely take FF over FB anyday. - Sharon Dexter
I prefer a FriendFeed folded into Facebook versus a FriendFeed that quietly fades away, which is the direction this was going. - Mike Doeff
Totally agree - facebook is so tedious and slow. FF is wonderful. - Zphotogal
+1 mike - Riaz Kanani
We imagine FB with the SEO juice of FF, thus intercepting search traffic... - Marco Massarotto from iPhone
I can certainly see the best ideas from FF being folded into FB but not sure what that says about the future of this site and the data it contains - Keith Harrison
Except for the whole FriendFeed dying slowly in the obscure ghetto of the digirati part. As Mike said, FF in FB is better than no FF at all. FriendFeed users are far better off having it than watching it its gradual anemia grow worse and worse until one day it vanishes. - Curtis Schweitzer
While this may never happen, consider it a possibility - your entire FB feed now available in FF. - Tim Akinbo
It is really hard to see how FB will do more than incorporate staff and ideas from FF. FriendFeed's design of being a very open aggregator is very different than FB's walled garden ethic. I also think part of what attracted me to prefer FF over FB is the clean interface, as opposed to FB fire-in-a-bordello presentation style. I hope FB really listens on the UI side and not just on the aggregator side, or works just mines out the staff. - David Lounsbury
This is a good thing for FF and FB both. This will lead to a more open FB and steal Twitter's thunder. - Tim
"the writing on the wall?" ... that's just hyperbole, Leo. Paul Buchheit himself said in his interview w/ Scoble that they could have kept the service alive "for years"...there was no financial issue forcing this, like tr.im or something. And while I suppose there are those that believe the most popular site/music/art/people are always the best, I think that's both a shallow way of... more... - Ken Kennedy
Like 4 Ken - Marco Massarotto from iPhone
What I care about most is having a Facebook profile that is *actually* public, viewable by non-users. - Andrew Roche
I definitely DONT LIKE IT grmphhh ! - laetSgo
@andrew that's one thing FF team is very good at: climbing Google :) - Marco Massarotto from iPhone
DOnt like it either. I'm off to a self hosted http://sweetcron.com/ or wait for a http://kakuteru.com/ invite. - Mario Valente
One thing that can be said about social communities - its the people who build the product. Had we not given excellent feedback to FriendFeed developers in creating our perfect world FB wouldn't have had an interest. Its our fault. :( - jcunwired
i'll agree to wait this one out before being totally devastated about Facebook buying FriendFeed - Chris Heath
Let's leave "en masse" - Giorgio Burlini from iPhone
Motion carried, motion passed. - Zachary TG
Facebook is banned from my work computer. - m9m, Crone of FriendFeed
Live *open* BadHair podcast in 8 minutes. (347) 843-4661. Call in if you have a comment or question re FB/FF. Starts in 3 minutes. - Dave Winer
Wait and see ... - Kate Foy
It means you'll have to share. wahhhhh - Andrew Smith
I think it is a bad idea. I don't like to use Facebook except for frivolous reasons. FF has been good for reliable information. I suppose I'll stop using it so much now. We'll see. - Barbara K. Iverson
I want to see where this is going but definitely my favorite social site just got folded into my least favorite. - Braden Douglass
It depends entirely on what direction FF would have taken next (and what direction it will take Dave). Think most of us that have been around FF since almost the start (when it was a MUCH smaller place) miss that but this actually might be a good thing. - Charlie Anzman
Agreed if they lose the FF interface. - Wei-Yen Tan
If we put all our faith into a single platform or a single solution [Twitter/FB/Goog] then we lose touch with people, processes and where history is taking us. In this case, we’re headed more in the direction of where .tel and Identi.ca are stumbling, consciously or not: towards a non-web-centric, permission-based polycephalous set of systems, where discussions and messaging transpire... more... - A Mitchell
Google Wave is coming to replace all this stuff. And Google Reader will get more social features including item recommendations through comparing users likes, and so Google will win this. Good time to sell. - Charbax
Interesting convo we had there dave, thanks for letting us call in and participate. - Chris Heath
But the real question is who will take over who? Isn't there a possibility that FriendFeed will takeover Facebook! I hope FB make it work as I like the idea of FF but it doesn't have the critical mass of people talking about what I am interested in! - Phillip Molly Malone
Very bad I'm sure there will be some changes - Annika from Nambu
I agree it's probably bad news for FF users.FF has reliable info. I don't want it to become chatter. - Leigh Marriner
I'll admit to being a recent convert to FF but it was the best social site I have used yet (and I have used them all). I am sorry to see it lose it's independence. This will not end well for FF groupies. But my reading of the tea leaves is that FF options as a standalone service were not good. I guess this is a sign of a maturing market. Can a Larry Ellison acquisition be far behind? - Michael Liss
simply but clear - Gioia Feliziani
I agree with Dave's original assertion. I'm struggling to imagine the value Facebook could add to FriendFeed, and I can certainly imagine the downsides. Having an aggregator that sits independently on top of the commercial pile, while fleeting as a free service, is a valuable one. - Allred
disagree. - Gus
I have my suspicions too. But Facebook have been wanting to open up more for some time (e.g., they're eliminating regional networks), and I'm guessing they see FF as the key. I'm betting they'll fuse the two services soon. But let's hope they use FF to improve FB. But there's always a big chance FB will ruin FF. Stay tuned... - Dennis Jernberg
+1 for A Mitchell's insights. If tr.im and FF have taught us anything, it's that no matter how many open api's there are, a closed platform is still a closed platform, and it can disappear overnight. We need a decentralized yet federated way to do all that FF did (and more). If it's not decentralized, we don't have redundancy. if it's not federated, we lose community an conversation. - Don Faulkner from BuddyFeed
another +1, Don and A Mitchell. I just finished a blog post along almost exactly the same lines, Don...decentralization and federation are both key. Good news is, this is historically how things go...nerds only, then mainstream joins, but centralized (think AOL, Compuserve, Prodigy...services and email that couldn't talk to each other). As the systems mature, then value of decentralization becomes apparent. This week could actually be an important milestone in speeding up that process *here's to hoping...*. - Ken Kennedy
But Facebook buying friendfeed is great news for the 250+ million fb users! (And most ff users have fb :) - Garin Kilpatrick
It would have been better (slightly) if they were acquired by Twitter. I'm not a Twitter fan, but I think FF would bring more to twitter, it would be a better fit and the users and the interface would have a better chance at "integration" - Mario Valente
I've read its good for FF, it's bad for FF. It's better than being sold to google, it's better than being sold to twitter. Myriad variations on a theme, which leads me to conclude we haven't got a clue what the future will bring. - Mark
FB will better integrate FF than Google or others ever would -- one hopes. let's see what happens and go from there. Good news is that it will generate a ton of news for you peeps to report on. - Gavin Adams
It's simply time for a distributed story for this type of application. You shouldn't need to rely on any providers who can be down or might be bought. - Christian Scholz
"Google Wave is coming to replace all this stuff." And lock you into yet another platform owned by one company. - Ian Betteridge
@Ian...Wave is a federated, decentralized, (to be) open-sourced solution. It's complicated, but it's at worst an architecture lock-in (ie, it might be hard to move a large corpus of Wave-annotated data out of the Wave infrastructure). Unless Google is pulling a flat-out lying fast one...there won't be any reason why you can't run your "own" instance of Wave and connect to the rest of the Net. So not standard company lock-in. - Ken Kennedy
Ken, to be honest, I'll believe it when I see companies other than Google taking the code and running an equivalent service. Flat out lying? No, probably not. But "only able to do something useful if you're connected to Google in some way"? Probably. - Ian Betteridge
@Ian, I hear ya, but I've read enough of the technical specs to lay my money on the other side of that bet. - Ken Kennedy
At least Google is one company that's not likely to turn coat on its social community and sell out. - jcunwired
Really? I think the old Jaiku community would disagree with you on that. And the people who stored their bookmarks in Google Bookmarks, too. - Ian Betteridge
why? - Thomas Power
Sorry - I meant Google Browser Sync rather than Google Bookmarks. One is dead, the other alive and well(ish). But the point is that Google has a track record of killing or abandoning services when it suits. - Ian Betteridge
True, Ian. Google's "do no evil" doesn't keep them from killing things that aren't panning out for their world domination strategy. They're marginally more saintly than Facebook. - Sean Gallagher
Is it because of the Facebook ad approach that Dave W and Scoble are looking to jump ship on FriendFeed? - Sean Gallagher
Sean: I'm not jumping ship. But I will follow early adopters wherever they go. - Robert Scoble
Or Google Notebook. Even given that and Jaiku, though, which did do a blow to my faith in Google, I would rather a Google-FriendFeed than a Facebook-FriendFeed. Mostly because I think they'd let it do its own thing rather than assimilate it. They left YouTube pretty well alone. Oh well. - Jandy, ConcertMaven of FF
disagree with FF and LI nxt year bottled up inside Facebook this forces Google MS and Apple to get seriously social and start playing rather than just watching. Google-Twitter, Apple-Facebook versus Microsoft-Bing now that's a battle I want to (socially) watch with all you guys. Oh what fun. Can't wait. - Thomas Power
I'm not sure Facebook or FriendFeed are entities whose well-being I value so highly; users, I care about, and having FriendFeed developper work their magic, their talent and their stand for open standard to benefit 300M people sounds more important to me then having them spend more time tailoring the digerati's private network. I'm far for believing you can't improve FriendFeed, but I'd... more... - Bertil Hatt
@Bertil_Hatt: if there's one thing that FriendFeed isn't it's a private network. Facebook is the one who, on the other hand, operates like a "walled garden" or a private condo. - Miguel Caetano
Only if you believe the FF has a sustainable business model? - Gary Walter (gwalter)
FF is F'ed - Shivanand Velmurugan
Robert Scoble
It's at times like these that I'm sad that Gillmor Gang remains shut down. Oh @stevegillmor what will it take?
I know Steve, Jesus. You got the people, just get them all on the call and do something. - Mark
Wondering what you have been doing for the last few months other than 1 post a week on TechCrunchIT. - Mark
I miss the Gillmor Gang so bad :-( - Panayotis Vryonis
You are so right. - courtney benson
DITTO! - frankiecarl
Yep - Bring it back Steve!!!! - PXLated
Start your own. You, Leo, Loic, Gina. - Jeff Harbert
I fear, knowing what I know have seen about Steve that where with others getting as many people as we could to tweet/FF "Bring back the Gang", with Steve a better response would have been for everyone to not even mention it! ;-) - Phillip Molly Malone
Get Leo? No, I love Leo but his shows are the antiGang. - PXLated
we need a catchy slogan to bring back Steve - Andrew Euell
Don't worry, Winer has it covered...besides, this isn't big enough news to bring back GG... - Aron Michalski
The Gillmor Gang rocked. It MUST come back. - Alberto Lopez
What shut down GG? Was it the argument between Leo and Arrington? - Travis B. Hartwell

Re: Can Mark Webber actually win a Formula 1 Grand Prix race? - http://www.inquisitr.com/28922...
"He definitely has a bad rap here for not finishing, wrongly in my opinion. A lot (Cough, Robert Walls, Cough, Dwayne Russell) blame him for all the DNF where as I am 99% sure if you look back over the DNF list, a huge percentage of them would be due to mechanical failure, something he has little control over (to my understanding). This year with a good car under him, he is showing he can compete with the best. Also, with wonder boy, Hamilton, in a crap car, it sort of proves that if you don't have a good car, you don't have a chance! Hopefully he wins so us Webber supporters can stick it up the haters! GO WEBBER!" - Phillip Molly Malone

Robert Scoble
Congrats to Dave Winer. He did what Opera Unite did today but he did it back in 2001 (put a web server into your desktop).
It's a cool idea both then and now. - Robert Scoble
Dave Winer deserves a HUGE amount of respect.A top guy!! - Jim Connolly
Sounds interesting. Hope the security is good. - Phillip Molly Malone
Isn't Opera Unite a bit more than just web serving? - Harald Nesland
I thought of Dave as soon as I saw Opera's developer example (programming a blog on unite). - Boris Gordon
Mobile phone as well, http://mymobilesite.net/ - netrider11
How is this different than OS X or NeXT? Wasn't the web developed on a desktop workstation? - Cristo
Christian Burns
Thanks for listening to the Gillmor Gang, see you next time if there is a next time.
I just wanted to start a thread on how much I have enjoyed listening to the Gillmor Gang over the years. What are some of your favorite moments and how has it impacted you? - Christian Burns
One of the best parts have been getting to listen to extended conversations from people like Doc Searls, Marc Cantor, Dan Farber, Jason Calacanis before I even knew who they were. - Christian Burns
I wouldn't want the thread to become like an obit, because I feel sure the gang will pop up again somewhere, but I'm with Christian, the show has given me a lot of pleasure and ideas to ponder. I'm a listener since the IT Conversations era. I can't think of any specific moments to point out; what I love is the seemingly rambling nature of the discussions that somehow serendipitously... more... - Amyloo
I liked the GG days when the argument always ended up being mufflers vs. ferraris. I liked when Dana Gardner and Mike Vizard were on the show. The days of trying to figure out if Enterprise or "Web. 2.0" was more important. Those were good and important conversations. - Jonathan Brown
For all the criticism of the bullish, head-on confrontation of the show, the often circuitous path of multiple issues to a common connection was the payoff for me. The verbal broadsides and carny-like grandstanding were wiped from importance by a single conclusive sentence from Doc or Hugh. The path or point could be obscured from the start but rarely by the end. The idea of collusion... more... - Aron Michalski
By no means do I think GG is going away. I just wanted to send out some good energy as it feels like GG is about to transform yet again. The last time there was this much tension on the show NGL was born. One time Steve took an entire year away. I have faith that I will get to hear our friends again, I just don't know what the form will be, I just know that I will enjoy it. - Christian Burns
There are so many that I can't even pick one favorite. Gillmor Gang was the very first podcast I listened to, back when it was on Adam Curry's network. The first thing I learned was to THINK. But if I had to pick a favorite, it would be Doc Searls and Steve's Attention Deficit Podcasts. - Karoli
Totally with Jonatahn Brown- back in the IT Conversation days, this was THE podcast to listen to. I'd stay at work longer on fridays so I could download it for the drive home. Unfortunately right now it's just a shadow of its former self - wish it came back.... What happened to the last episode, anyway? Did they not publish it? - Frank Koehntopp
The Gillmor Gang gained traction with me on a cold night in January 2006 while driving home listening to Steve painstakingly explained to Michael Arrington (and me) the theory of gestures. A show with something for everybody: great content, timely subject matter and high drama [lol]. - Brad Kligerman
I think my favorites were when Mike Arrington and Jason were on there going at it. I am sure they will be back when we least expect it! - Phillip Molly Malone
These are the people i like to listen to: Steve Gillmor, Doc Searls, Robert Scoble, Leo Laporte, Paul Buchheit (guest), Marc Canter, Kevin Marks. It would be great to hear Dave Winer, Marshall Kirkpatrick, Rob Diana, Alexander Van Elsas, Hutch Carpenter.. who else? - Brian Hendrickson
BradKligerman I remember that podcast! Very well...and I totally agree that it was a classic. - Karoli
Mark "Rizzn" Hopkins would be another who I'd like to hear with Steve. Also Steve Hodson....because then you all would realize who the real cranky geek is, and it's not Steve Gillmor in that pairing. :) - Karoli
Jonathan: I loved it in the days of Dana Gardner, Mike Vizard and Robert Anderson. Still big fans of theirs, too. But the thing I love most is that even with the evolution in guests and content, it is still the Gillmor Gang, and it's still as much fun as ever. - Karoli
The wild thing sometimes was the people who were on the call who wouldn't say a thing or just one thing; they would steer the conversation as much as anyone. - Aron Michalski
Oh, SNAP. yes, the quiet Doc Searls, who would say nothing and then... bam! one line summed up the whole show. He did that a couple of times on NGL too...the fifth guy. - Karoli
One of my favorite moments was when Calacanis twittered the call-in number. Steve was annoyed at first but just rolled with it when someone actually called in. That was the start of News Gang Live, which had a really great run and will hopefully come back someday. - Mike Doeff
I also like the long, awkward pauses where nobody makes any attempt to fill in the silence. - Mike Doeff
Me too. I had to actually make myself shut up on NGL and let those spaces be empty...and it taught me a lot about timing, and attention, and lots of things. I tend to be like Leo...the urge is to fill the empty space. - Karoli
We won't let Gillmor quit this time, either. :-) - Robert Scoble
I don't think he could or that he wants to, honestly. And he knows this about me: I am a perennial optimist who always sees silver linings, so take my statements with that disclaimer. - Karoli
Mike, thanks for telling that tid-bit. I never knew how the show opened up (even I called in once - I mean it was no ordinary election night now was it :) - Micah Wittman
Also ,I always loved the way Calacanis pimped Audible, knowing it would needle Steve to no end. I think he did GoDaddy a couple of times too. - Karoli
Mike: I remember when Jason did that...and how shocked I was that he DID it. And then what fun it was to be invited into the conversation. A conversation that hasn't ended yet. - Karoli
Love the show. Turned me on to all this social media stuff. I'm a latecomer and the show pointed me to the people I enjoy following the most, like Scoble, Calacanis and of course Steve. - Rasmus Lauridsen
Attention Deficit Theatre with Doc/Steve was wonderful - Could be a show of its own. - PXLated
Doesn't anyone here like to listen to Arrington? - Dana Gardner
I liked listening to Arrington (and Scoble and Doc and etc.). This was my favorite podcast because of the great conversations and divergent view points. I drive long distances between job sites and am on the road a lot, and this was always the first podcast I listened to. It is such a shame about the blow-up because it followed touching thoughts on how a group of people learned of the death of someone they cared about, and it would have been a great conversation on how a company sends out review units. - Matthew McCowan
Dana: I did in the beginning (Mike). But my personal conflicts with him started to shade the enjoyment factor...sadly enough. - Karoli
I think that Arrington both added and subtracted from the show in general. Steve has always told me to give it a break, me realizing that the provocateur role creates movement in the conversation. Maybe it's the lawyer thing, having someone really good on the other side; it makes it hard to enjoy when his skill makes you lose most of your cases. - Aron Michalski

"Magic! Look forward to it. I will be honest with you, I haven't fully converted over too it yet as I have Tweet Deck setup nicely, but I would think when comments come to Facebook part of Seesmic Desktop, that would probably be the motivation to move over. I haven't got into Friendfeed myself yet, but is that in the long term plans for SD?" - Phillip Molly Malone

"Hmm... I am no expert and haven't fully looked into this, isn't the physical infrastructure the important piece? Surely the speed will end up being what ever speed technology will allow over that physical infrastructure and that will change over the next 10 years, wouldn't you think? Like the Cable will hit a high speed this year but its based on better tech not new Cables. Surely fiber speed will get quicker over the near term future. Just a thought and could be completely wrong." - Phillip Molly Malone

Steve Gillmor
The Gillmor Gang - Jason Calacanis, Marc Canter, Leo Laporte, Dan Farber, Robert Scoble, Andrew Keen, Loren Feldman, and Doc Searls. Recorded Saturday, February 28, 2009. - Steve Gillmor
Pass the tea and Gillmor Gang. - Denise Howell
Downloaded it to my iPhone with RssPlayer while on 3G. Will listen when able. Got to love good ol timeshifting. - Christian Burns
what is rssplayer? - Steve Gillmor
I believe its a Podcatcher for the iPhone. I believe its the one they banned that has been renamed. - Phillip Molly Malone
Marc Canter was certainly in a funk. Didn't blame Jason Calacanis for biting back hard. Canter went a bit too far. - Karoli
Oh my, this was a feisty one. - Mike Doeff
Yeah! I loved this episode again! The Bad Boys of Tech in full effect. I think it's my favourite show right now. - Kahlil Lechelt
MC was baiting, but he and the others, including JC, knew it was driving the show forward. My read was that the back and forth never lost its equilibrium. The gang dynamic was in full swing, and the venting well represents pent up feelings in the wider social/economic climate. Good stuff. - Micah Wittman
Great Gang... I think Leo's influence + Gillmor Gang madness = almost tolerable show. :-) - Jason Calacanis
@stevegillmor RssPlayer is the podcatcher for the iPhone. It's so much beter than iTunes at this point. And you can email feedback to the developer. It's only getting better. - Christian Burns
I agree with Jason. I have now started listening and enjoying this show since Leo joined. It's also nice that he manages everyone getting mic'd properly unlike some other shows where it was painful to listen to Steve do it :) - Mark Krynsky
Does Leo dominate the show like on his TWIT podcasts? Or is it more of a shared effort? - ComicList
I don't think Leo dominates HIS podcasts. I love hearing Leo's voice. And I haven't heard Gillmor Gang yet, but from what I saw from the Live stream, it was an interesting show. - Mol, Time Warping
Hadn't heard of this before! Looking forward to seeing what the fuss is about.. - Mark Aitken
I enjoy Leo Laporte's participation on GG. HIs followers? Not so much. The rudeness and self-indulgent flaming in those chat rooms is nearly intolerable. - Karoli

"To be fair to the police, they are trying to make sure that this guy gets the justice that he deserves! If he is not sane, they want to make sure he is locked up for that. If he is sane, they want to make sure he goes to jail. If his lawyer can argue that he can't get a fair trail because of things that should be supressed not being supressed, they should be seeing what can be done about that. I bet you will be one of the first posting how incompetent they were if they didn't and the guy gets off because of the net!" - Phillip Molly Malone

"a) Its He not she. b) Perhaps Compassion is the wrong word. From what I have heard it sounds like the guy has mental issues. Having dealt/been around people with mental issues lately, you have to wonder if (assuming it is true the guy has issues) it is 100% his fault or if we as a scoeity have to look at ourselves and say did we help him enough. Perhaps the answer is yes. So, 1000% yes he should face the court and wear what ever punishment is coming him but is saying "I hope someone can burn his house down" helpful? No. In fact if anything it justifies the courts idea of putting a supression order on the guys name. I mean are we as a public really helped by knowing it or does it just open up the media to this sort of crap and does it just put poor victims, maybe in a bad mental place themselves, in risk of doing something silly against this guy and/or his family." - Phillip Molly Malone
