Download full Palm Keynote from Palm site here: http://palmone.r3h.net/downloa... #ces09
Were you impressed with palm's new offering? :) - Anthony Farrior
Anthony - I'm watching right now. I am excited about the OS, don't really care about the hardware (except processor) because everything it ... wait, there's a USB for mass storage ++ - Mona Nomura from IM
something to watch with a cup of tea I've just made, ty :) - gumbit
I'm watching him switch through applications right now. Wow. - Mona Nomura from IM
It's gonna be something! But can I really justify four phones??? - Martha
Ok - the OS is amazing. - Mona Nomura from IM
So the rehash of the question. Most count Palm out... Do you think this will jump start them and reignite their momentum? - Ken Stewart | ChangeForge
I was talking about Palm before their keynote, I knew they were going to come out with something big -NOT because of my 'soft spot' but because 1. they were silent for way too long and they knew their OS was stagnant. Instead of making minor changes to their current OS, they innovated. Watch the video and you'll see. and 2. they received funding in December. I posted it, no one was interested LOL But in order to receive THAT much funding, they HAD to have had something huge. - Mona Nomura from IM
So to answer your question: HELL YES. Would it be with the Pre? Who knows. But unfortunately, things do not look too bright for Android who's most likely going to be their biggest competition. - Mona Nomura from IM
thanks for the link, I was really impressed - Dobromir Hadzhiev
Same here, Dobromir. I had to actually see what everyone else was seeing before getting full on excited. That said, there are still many unanswered questions but that OS is phenomenal. It gives a solution none of the current phones in the market does: efficient data managing while multi-tasking. I'm watching the demo again. haha - Mona Nomura from IM
The Pre itself looks really great and the demos of that--fantastic. I haven't seen the entire keynote--but I don't remember seeing anything about the Palm Desktop (or whatever they're calling it now). That will be crucial as well. - Rob Michael (Atmos Trio)
Desktop - as in synching? (desktop software, process, etc) - Mona Nomura from IM
Well the only reason I was so dependent on synching was because of 1. calendar 2. contacts... but because everything's going to be web based, it'll omit the need to actually keep synching. - Mona Nomura from IM
On top of that, everything is consolidated. CONSOLIDATED! IM clients, SMS, emails, EVERYTHING. Contacts from my web mail are synched with exchange. The technology is phenomenal. - Mona Nomura from IM
Unless the Pre is able to get 50 plus apps (with at least 10 in high quality) they won't last against the iPhone and Android clones. - darnell from Nambu
But that's the THING. It omits the need for all those apps. Just watch the demo, you'll see. Simplicity = key. - Mona Nomura from IM
Watching keynote now: While I'm too scary to be an *Early Adaptor," I'm starting to 'get it.' Good times... - Rob Michael (Atmos Trio)
Ya, this is really one of those: You have to see it to believe in it. I am NOT a fan of the Pre (the way it looks) but the OS has amazed me so much, I don't really care. And Rob - I'm right with you about "early adopter" and "first crop/gen/batch" stuff. I'd prefer all the bugs to be fixed before investing. Remember all the complaints about the 3G iPhone? Yuck. No thanks. - Mona Nomura from IM
Mona, I thought you're crazy about the Android. :P - imabonehead
I love Android - in theory, but to be honest, at this time, it hasn't done a single thing to blow me away. It's not Android's time yet, unfortunately. :( - Mona Nomura from IM
After watching this, this is definitely the play Palm needs to make. I love the design on the hardware, so we'll see if it sells. - Ken Stewart | ChangeForge
Did we watch the same demo? LOL I dont' care about the hardware - actually I think the Pre is quite ugly. The OS, the technology, UI, UX is the reason I am _so_ excited!! - Mona Nomura from IM
I'm making it through the UI now... I see what you mean :-D They are hitting on a lot of the things I wish I had in the Touch! Mona, you are on to something here. - Ken Stewart | ChangeForge
I'm on my fifth watch of the multi-tasking demo. I am absolutely floored. - Mona Nomura from IM
Mona, glad you got to see this vid. Hopefully, it sheds some light on why we were all buzzing about it on Thursday. Still plenty of reasons to wait and see how it all shakes out, but they're on the right track with it, IMO. - Kevin C. Tofel
Kevin - after watching it, I now see why people aren't questioning things that we are _so_ used to. Especially apps and an app store. Simply: there is no need. This OS is revolutionary and does what no other mobile platform does at this time: keeping things simple and consolidating. I can't stop watching it. - Mona Nomura from IM
Pre UI > iPhone UI. No doubt about that. The "dealing a deck of cards" metaphor is so perfect and apt, it's hard to believe Jobs didn't give the keynote. - vijay
This is more than the Pre, it's about Nova and how it offers a solution none of the current platforms in the market does: efficient data managing while multi-tasking. I'm not sure if Pre is going to be THAT handset but I am really excited for Nova and Palm. - Mona Nomura from IM
check back on my last comment in team room. - Ken Stewart | ChangeForge
You're it! - Mona Nomura
