Mona Nomura
You guys, I am I love with Android. In. Love.
DROID FTW - Mona Nomura from Android
So, wow. You found the Droid you were looking for. - DGentry
No. NO. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! - Mike Nayyar
The screen is great. - Rodfather
DROID. (also yay!) - EricaJoy
I'm 99.9% sure I'm switching. - Mona Nomura from iPhone
Excellent. - Mo Kargas
Whats causing the .1% of hesitation? - EricaJoy
Didn't you say that about the Pre? I like Android. Though, I'm not sure how "big" their marketplace is for apps. Hopefully with the new Droid, development will pick up. I may look back at getting into Android development. Though right now, iPhone development is much easier if you're not a big fan of Java. - John Wang
10k apps for Android. - Mo Kargas
Yea. But odds are those 10k apps are a lot more useful than the ones on the iPhone App Store no? I would think the developers that are in the Android side, are much more interested in creating things that are useful to themselves than the iPhone's side where there's a ton of them just trying to "get rich." - John Wang
Of course, quantity and quality are often mutually exclusive - Mo Kargas
Can it tether, yet? - MiniMage, enterRUPPted
The Android Market is still nascent. There are many gems that get things done, but not many "fun" apps or quality games like at the Apple App store. Otherwise, Android is quickly evolving into a fine mobile OS. - Adrian
Mini, it can tether as long is it's rooted and running a hacked ROM. - Adrian
Mona, when are you marrying this Android dude? :P - imabonehead
I am referring you to the "Cheaters" TV show b/c you are caught! - Amani
Oh, so it's like the iPhone, Adrian? Heheh! - MiniMage, enterRUPPted
Are we marrying Mona off to an Android team member? - EricaJoy from IM
Oh boy - what just happened while I was offline? 1. I am not marrying anyone on the Android team. but more importantly: 2. I refuse to date ANYONE who is active on Twitter, Facebook, or any other social networking site ;) - Mona Nomura
Given number 2, we could probably make #1 happen. :P (I keed, I keed!) - EricaJoy from IM
Hahhahhaah find me someone in finance, please! (just kidding...or maybe not HA) - Mona Nomura
I so wish I could justify two phones and plans. I would be all over this puppy. - Martha
Erica - .1% is early termination fee from AT&T and cost justification. I wonder if Verizon'll do a waive activation plus cover cancellation fee special promo this weekend. :P *rolls up negotiation sleeves* - Mona Nomura
This thread makes me chuckle. - Andru Edwards
Welcome to DROID. I told you so. :) - Tudor Bosman
If Moto had their Droid ready at Android launch, I would've NEVER bought the 3GS. I am so excited to see their growth - and totally ditching my iPhone. I feel bad for RIM... - Mona Nomura
I think 2.0 android is pretty big. 1.0 didn't impress me much. 2.0 looks more promising. - John Wang from iPhone
@John Wang: I don't think it's fair to say iPhone development "is much easier if you're not a big fan of Java". Seriously, Android development is really easy with the Eclipse plugin. You barely have to even read the doc -- just take a sample, start typing and hitting ctrl-space a lot to see what your options are on any given object. I really don't care if I "like" the language or not -- if I wanted to write an iPhone app, I'd just sit down and do it, regardless of my personal opinion of Objective C. It's just not that big a deal. - Joel Webber
Joel, that is extremely encouraging to hear (from an user perspective) since apps availability and development was something I was concerned about. Good to know. - Mona Nomura
Me too. Love my DROID :) - LANjackal
I really like my Droid, not sure if I love it yet. That said, I have high hopes for the Android OS and support the Open philosophy. I think Android has the greatest opportunities to improve and succeed at this point. - manielse (Mark Nielsen)
IMO Android's greatest strength is also it's greatest weakness: multitasking. Nice to have, but slows the device down. It should be easier to kill an app natively instead of having to use a Task Manger. - LANjackal from IM
Same issue with Windows Mobile. Not sure why Mobile OSes make killing past processes so difficult. - manielse (Mark Nielsen)
I stopped worrying about killing processes since it does a good job of its own. Plus if you keep killing them, it just takes longer to load up services. - Rodfather
Killing processes is super easy (and viscerally pleasing) on the Pre 8^D - Chieze Okoye
So Android proposed??? - Roberto Bonini
