An absolutely riveting online course: Nine principles for excellence in web-based teaching - http://www.cjlt.ca/index...
V good overview article, mainly because it mentions, if not develops, implications and human requirements for each of the principles. Beneath it all: Excellent DE courses depend on excellent teachers. This article explores excellence in web-based teaching. Drawing on the views of experts in the field and the perspective of their own years of experience, the authors compiled a list of 9 principles to provide direction in the search for online excellence. The principles include: the online world is a medium unto itself; sense of community and social presence are essential to online excellence; in the online world, content is a verb; great online courses are defined by teaching, not technology. The list is not intended to be an exclusive set of principles or a comprehensive guide to online teaching. Rather it is a collection of important ideas and suggestions for teaching excellence in the online world. - M C Morgan

New evidence that bullet-points don’t work : Speaking about Presenting - http://www.speakingaboutpresenting.com/design...
well-known principles: give both visual and auditory channels something to do, and reinforce the message with both. "When a presenter uses bullet-point slides, they’re not using both pathways as effectively as they could. The audience member has to read the words on the slide and listen to the presenter at the same time, leading to overloading of the language areas whilst leaving the visual cortex with very little to do." - M C Morgan

Early to bed. Still getting over a nasty cold so bed, radio4, and oj are in order.
Facing another day of below freezing, snow in October, and nothing on the tv.
Dropped $3 for #Tweetie2. Worth it just for the interface design. Make life easy for 3 dollars.
