5 Startups that were supposed to succeed and did not (fr) http://fr.techcrunch.com/2008...
Didn't know TC had a website in FR. Anyway, translated to en: http://translate.google.com/transla... - Hao Chen
Yes; it is even the second TC blog in terms of RSS readership - Ouriel Ohayon
yes i think it is a major flop. no traffic, no content, no team - Ouriel Ohayon
ouriel - is it supposed to be ilike.com or like.com. like.com is the visual search engine by riya.com. ilike.com is not related to like.com as far as i know - Atul Arora
indeed. changing that. but the conclusion is the same - Ouriel Ohayon
time to realize that daily unique visitors being replaced by engagement time. Second Life is ranked third after Face book and youtube in the UK. The data for the rest of the world not available yet. - Ramesh Ramloll from twhirl
Second Life has not managed to become mainsteam whatever the metrics you look at - Ouriel Ohayon
actually after a second reading really dont like your analysis, comparing many different classes of online services using one metric. but the title is great, very tabloid and digg worthy - Ramesh Ramloll from twhirl
are you a shareholder of one of those? - Ouriel Ohayon
nah, not at all. Problem is Secondlife is a platform in the first place. Why not evaluate it for what it is? Compare it with Croquet, Project Wonderland or whatever..., this would be more fair - Ramesh Ramloll from twhirl
why use metrics? when is the last time you ve been there? please go take a look.. - Ouriel Ohayon

Sometimes, instead of doing something constructive or creative, I find myself refreshing FriendFeed over and over and over and over and over...
I keep secretly wishing I hit some sort of usage limit so I have to walk away. Damn you Friendfeed and your scalability! - Mark Trapp
It's a lot harder for me to walk away from FriendFeed than Twitter. - Michelle Martinez
F5 = crack - Hutch Carpenter
Welcome to da club? - Yuvi
I find FF more interesting as well. - J Allen
I resent the implication that ever-refreshing FriendFeed is not constructive! - Marco(aureliusmaximus)
lol@Hutch Indeed - Shey, Jamaican of FF
It's gotten so bad that I have to regulate myself. I use a plug-in for FireFox called Leechblock that you can use to limit your time during the work day.: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US... - Dan Kaplan
huh? F5 just blips my Mac's little sound level at me. - Thomas Hawk
@Thomas F5 = Command + R on a PC. Refresh. - Parth Awasthi
Yes, FF is the new internet addiction. F5 F5 F5 F5 F5 F5... - Chrimmus Tad
The only way to solve this problem is for you people to post quicker ;) - Moved to Facebook
Use LeechBlock, limit yourself to 5 minutes an hour, you won't be sorry. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US... - Jason Wehmhoener
@Jason you essentially just told Amy Winehouse she should check herself into rehab - how likely do you think we are to match your show of discipline? lol ; ) - Marco(aureliusmaximus)
At some point we just need FF to auto-refresh every second and include a pause button so we can stop the action to read stuff that catches our eyes. That would be pretty freaky, huh? - Chrimmus Tad
it has been eating into my reading and sleeping time - RAPatton
What? Reading Friendfeed isn't constructive or creative? - Tom Landini
like right now, for example - Sarah Perez
Sometimes I interrupt what I'm doing (re-reading the manual for Twilight Struggle) just to check for new FriendFeed action. Totally addicted. - Akiva Moskovitz
I do that too. But now we're going to see the Incredible Hulk. - Robert Scoble
F5=Crack. Crack is Whack. Flickr = Crack. FF is the new Flickr. - Russellreno
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki... It helps if you don't notice the walls of the maze aren't very high and there are these people looking down on you. - Karim
RusselReno, I had to double-check to make sure that you weren't Steve Gillmor - Todd McKinney
@Todd rofl - Michael W. May from twhirl
+1 rofl for Todd. And good one Russell. - Hutch Carpenter
and sometimes you just can't help a 'likey' even thought you didn't click ... right? :) - Charlie Anzman
a bigger screen real estate could mitigate this problem - Ramesh Ramloll from twhirl
Yeah it's addictive :) - JegerPhil - Phil from NoiseRiver
Wait that's not normal??? - Mona Nomura
FrF cries for TTS ;) - A.T.
time consumption is simply the manual behavior. Get an auto refresher and save a micro second. ;) then again, if you want to remain aware, you have to read everything! - thecolor
use twhirl and updates come automatically to your desktop... no need of refresh, layout is awesome (discussions, etc) - Gustavo Munoz from twhirl
If we could get paid for using FriendFeed, wouldn't we all have our own private islands? - Rishabh Mishra (p248)
More like one palm tree, a couple of rocks, and a sewage outflow. - Akiva Moskovitz
FriendFeed Addiction:) - Igor Poltavskiy
Nice discovery - saee:Dsharif

ISCAN Eyetracker demonstration
Play
here is a video of a more recent example of the technology (using the Tobii eye-tracker): http://de.youtube.com/watch... - Gaby K. Slezák
I hope they have automated the calibration step. I wrote the mouse driver for the ISCAN eyetracker in the demo above in my previous job years ago. Funny that at that time, I thought that in a couple of years, we all will be using eye trackers. hasn't happened yet. - Ramesh Ramloll
oh you wrote the driver! do you know any eye tracker that's on the market/available for normal customers? I checked out tobii.com but their hardware seems to be for scientific research and larger projects only - Gaby K. Slezák

Hmmm - imho the addition of the "World of SL" feed doesn't work for me in this room :-( I liked the room because I'd find postings that other like-minded people found interesting enough to share them here. Now it looks like a random SL news feed (which I have elsewhere). What do you think?
I guess someone could do 'maintenance' on those entries, deleting some and commenting others. - Dani Radu
this is called -self aggregating LOL - Ramesh Ramloll
It doesn't work for me either. - Opensource Obscure
agrt. - Hao Chen
Removed for now (without asking Tao, who enabled it - Tao, feel free to reenable it if you think it's appropriate). - Opensource Obscure
wow that was a quick democratic process in action ;-) now we have to share interesting stuff ourselves again :-D - Gaby K. Slezák
Robert Scoble
Wall-E !!!!
We're seeing it tonight. Can't wait! - Robert Scoble
Me too hopefully! - Mack D. Male
It's awesome; pretty sad at times though - Benjamin Golub
Hope to see it really soon. Love the premise of the story. - Cathryn Hrudicka
Family and I just saw it. Thought it was wonderful! - Sawyer
It's getting rave reviews. I expected nothing less from the Pixar team - Jake Lumetta
Saw it over lunch. Cannot even begin to imagine how they pitched it to the studio. Glad the studio took them up on the idea. - Andrew Leyden
I saw it today, and found it simply gorgeous. Artwork is stunning. Are we close to the point where actors aren't necessary, other than for voices? - Michael
Here are some good Wall-e trivia / easter eggs http://www.slashfilm.com/2008... - Andrew Leyden
I thought it was a great story, and had amazing animation my 2.5 year old loved it as well. Watched the whole thing no fussin'. - Sean Brady
Saw it this morning at 9 a.m.! - Christine Cavalier
And just how do parents of newborn twins get to see it? This is why I want new releases on the Apple TV... now. Otherwise, I will go the dark side of the Internet and find it for myself. (frowny face) - Louis Gray
seeing it tonight - Devin Anderson
I loved it. Even with the ethical messages :) - Lucretia Pruitt
DLP or bust! =) - Will DeLuca
Great movie. Definitely recommend it! Top 3 pixar for me. - Tim Costantino
Louis, you are SO funny! Actually, though, we saw a lot of kid movies with one of them a baby... I'm darn good at nursing in a theater. Did baseball games that way too. It's fine for a "kid" movie like a Pixar (stick to atinees). - Cyndy
is this wall-e like a sequel of sorts to short circuit? - BCK
Saw this today and genuinely enjoyed it. Some interesting things to ponder too. - Mindy Koch
Just got home. It was a fun film, I'm not sure it's Pixar's best, but it certainly was worth seeing. - Robert Scoble
Trailers had some parts that looked unbelievable... even for Pixar. Question about what you think is Pixar's best here: http://friendfeed.com/e... - Adam Helweh
I want to see this movie, I have a son and two daughters. Will it appeal to the girls?? - Joe Dawson
When's it coming out in Germany? - Georg
It was good. Not Pixar's best as far as story, but great animation and funny at times. Was that a Sputnik cameo? - Kevin L
YouTube :: Videos by Wall E: http://reader.macrostandard.com/... - Dan N. Moldovan
@LouisGray: Have you check to see if the theaters in your area have a 'mothers day'? It's pretty common now on a Tues or Wed morning to show movies with the lights on and strollers welcome. They let new mothers (and dads) take the kids to a movie and the kids can cry, scream, etc and not disturb anyone. - Andrew Leyden
The entire family loved the movie. Love Wall-E startup sound. - Khürt Williams from twhirl
Cute and very funny. My 4 YO loved it. - Matthew Vaughan
Wall-E is no Ratatouille by any stretch :) I would give it a 3.5, great graphics, believable characters, so so story line, sickening romance - Ramesh Ramloll
Saw the movie!!! AWESOME FILM!!! - Adam Robertson
In light of the recycling theme, I tried to get the concessioner to refill the Hawks empty popcorn bucket to no avail. Loved the commentaries on seditary people & the longing for human touch. - Mrsth from fftogo
