"Ferrero Rocher is a spherical chocolate sweet made by Italian chocolatier Ferrero SpA, the producer of Tic Tac and Nutella. The sweets consist of a whole roasted hazelnut encased in a thin wafer shell filled with hazelnut cream and covered in milk chocolate and chopped hazelnuts and walnuts. The sweets contain 72 Calories (304 kJ), and are individually packaged inside a gold-coloured wrapper."

Apart from the traditional hazelnut flavor, Ferrero Rocher comes in other flavors. There are several other flavors: Including coconut & dark chocolate also Pistachio, Strawberry, Coconut and Lemon are the Ferrero Garden Varieties. The original Ferrero Rocher is in a gold wrapper whereas coconut is in a silver wrapper and dark chocolate a brown log. The coconut flavor is called Ferrero...

*shudder* If you like these things, my MIL always gives us a box at Xmas. You can have them. Interesting they're made by the same company that makes Nutella. Explains a lot.
- Admiral Anika
I've always thought these were OK but kind of blah. I'd much rather enjoy lindt truffles. the yellow wrapped, white chocolate ones are my absolute favorite candy.
- veo
I like the nuts. Chocolate and nuts together are my friend. Can't get down with the white chocolate, though, veo. It doesn't taste...chocolatey.
- Derrick
I can't buy these. because I only stop when they're gone.
- jbrotherlove
Me neither, j...but I do get them as gifts around the holidays.
- Derrick
Oooh, Almond Roca. I wish we got that as gifts from the MIL.
- Admiral Anika
Starting to think I need to get me some in-laws so that I can get gifts of chocolate-y goodness from them.
- Katy S
Katy, since I'm not a fan of chocolate, let alone the less quality chocolate, it's painful for me. We have jars (don't ask) of chocolate here because she buys from See's every time Adrian is slated for a visit. So December rolls around and I'm tossing last year's Xmas chocolates, Valentine's, Easter, etc...Then we have a party and let everyone take what they want from whatever is left.
- Admiral Anika
They're rather airy for my taste, but they're alright. Didn't know that they actually originated in Italy.
- Kamilah Gill
I do prefer higher quality chocolate, but if hazelnuts are involved in the mix I'll make exceptions. I haven't had See's in ages. My great-aunt & great-uncle who lived in Santa Cruz use to send boxes of it to my parents and grandparents every Christmas, but that was a long time ago and I don't remember it very well.
- Katy S
I'm not a huge chocolate fan and can't stand dark chocolates...too bitter. I'd take white chocolate over regular chocolate any day. But Toffee wins above all, so Almond Roca FTW! I wish they made Almond Roca covered in white chocolate. OMG.
- veo
*gives veo all the white chocolate he can find*
- Derrick
Veo, I'm the opposite! I love dark chocolate and will pay a pretty penny for some from some chocolatiers. But white chocolate is worse than milk chocolate for me. We should do a swap!
- Admiral Anika
"white chocolate" isn't chocolate. Not saying that I won't eat it, but it isn't chocolate.
- Katy S
Oh I love these! And the Lindt's white chocolate truffles too
- Tamara

OMG! Katy, I just found that bar in the cabinet like a couple of months ago (? whenever we made chocolate chip cookies). I had no idea we had it, but there it was. No one knew how old it was, but it was getting dusty looking.
- Admiral Anika
*scolds Anika for not eating the chocolate immediately or storing it in the freezer*
- Katy S
All chocolate gets tossed in the cabinet, since I don't unpack the stuff he brings back from his mom's. No one eats it. I only use it for baking in desperate times.
- Admiral Anika
I lurve these!... even if I do have a hazelnut allergy... I still can have at least one once and a while! ;)

What are your thoughts on Google Wave? Has anyone tried it? Do you think there are some features in Wave that could be incorporated into FriendFeed or vice versus? What cool extensions would you like to see using the protocol?
The big thing about wave to me is the open protocol. It's like if Twitter embraced Laconica rather than pretending it didn't exist.
- Daniel J. Pritchett
I'd have to play around with it before developing a better vision of what can be done with it. I think how it's used and how it interacts with other services like FF will evolve as it's used.
- phil baumann
You can certainly see features like the live typing, the spell-checking and the translating in sites like FriendFeed (or in a FriendFeed extension within Google Wave.
- Kol Tregaskes
The translation tool was wonderful. I'd love to have that! :-D
- Kol Tregaskes
Phil, yeah it's nice to see screenshots and a video demo but really eager to actually get my hands on it. Though it sounds like it a few months off! :-(
- Kol Tregaskes
FF definitely needs realtime translation. Google already has the auto-detect going on their google translator and that's been integrated into Google Reader for a while. It will be great to see it opened up to realtime services.
- Daniel J. Pritchett
I love it a priori. Yet, I've some concerns about my future information management system (which is currently built on Google): Talk, Gmail, Blogger, Groups, Forum, Notebook, Orkut, Profiles would be merged in Wave, ok. Now, how would you integrate Google Reader and Docs (Photos, Documents, Spreadsheets, Presentations, My Maps, Videos... i.e. Google Web Drive)?
- Jérôme Flipo
Jérôme, interesting point, especially about Google Reader. What about Gmail? Is Google Wave the end of Gmail?
- Kol Tregaskes
Google Reader should be fully integrated to read and comment public posts in one place.
- Jérôme Flipo
Kol, Gmail will die naturally. You'll sign in your geeky friends on Wave, then your less-techy but curious brother, then some colleagues who need collaboration for a specific project and then Wave will run the world. I don't need a fax anymore ;)
- Jérôme Flipo
And for the transition, the Gmail will provide you with a Wave robot to manage your email from there.
- Jérôme Flipo
But how can Wave offer an alternative to RSS? Will a website be able to send a public not editable Wave, which support comments? Would a website be a Wave itself, with post as "blip"?
- Jérôme Flipo
Google Wave is one of truly innovative ways of thinking about web communication in a long time.
- Mike D.
from twhirl
And what about Docs and Web Drive? Google will need a Drive to help people bring private stuff in the cloud. But it will be very hard to integrate Docs. Why not just write a document/spreadsheet/pres. "inside" Wave? They'll really need to rebuild Docs.
- Jérôme Flipo
I'm also worried about the social aspect of this service as information won't be people-centric in Wave, contrary to Twitter, Friendfeed and Facebook. I don't see any *public* stream natively build in Wave. And that's a *huge* limitation.
- Jérôme Flipo
Maybe Google don't want to be part of the social thing, except for Friend Connect and Open Social. They may consider launching the killer Wave-supported Profile service afterwards. But it's clearly not their priority.
- Jérôme Flipo
Something else I really liked was the way it integrated into a blog. I hope that we could do something like that on a WordPress blog too. Ideally that's exactly what I'd like to do with my FriendFeed posts (to my blog) and/or vice versus. I know it updates in real-time already when you embed a post from FF to your blog but it's in an iframe which is really annoying.
- Kol Tregaskes
For microbloggers, Wave will be big, for sure. I liked the demo of Bloggy The Robot: just imagine website like TechCrunch, Reddit, Digg and traditional newspaper with such a commenting tool...
- Jérôme Flipo
Putting my concerns aside, I think Wave will allow Google to kill many projects that need their own development program, too merge all their communication products in one. That should save them lots of time and resources.
- Jérôme Flipo
Nice coincidence, Inside Facebook just wrote a post about Wave competition http://www.insidefacebook.com/2009.... But they're missing the "public" thing. Which is very important, especially for early adopters.
- Jérôme Flipo
Want to publish something as public in wave ? There is an extension for that (reminds me iPhone ads)
- Luka
I think it's outstanding... I'm so impressed by the demo it hurts. I never even conceived the notion of record/playback of waves. It's like the conversation is being recorded and you can play it back. Google has created a DVR for online conversations.
- Bwana ☠
Bwana, for Google Docs revision history users playback is just obvious :)
- Jérôme Flipo
Apply that to any online conversation and it becomes non-obvious and ingenious.
- Bwana ☠
Feature request: On the fly speech to text. Spell checker on steroids.
- Ted Gilchrist
Playback even works with gadgets... like games... this is crazy
- Bwana ☠
truly amazing, its almost scary to see how Wave will disrupt the web and its current services. i really hope they stick to the slogan "don't be evil". i mean, i like google, but i also tend to root for the underdog (whoever that may be)
- Kevin Pruett
I like what I see of Wave as far as using it for private communications w/in a group/company that may or may not be published. However, I also see a limitation in it's use for blogging as some of the best blog posts aren't the actual blog but the interaction between the commentors and/or the responses to specific comments by the blogger him/herself. Unless it can be updated in real time I don't see how that would work to improve a blog except to post what was said at the time of the Wave.
- Molly
Jerome, So I post a blog in Wave, people comment on it like in IM? I like that idea, however I also saw a post about it that said bloggers' typing would be public and commentable. Oh, heck no........ I have to revise and extend my remarks too many times to want THAT to be public. Talk about confusion. Then you have an issue w/copywrite infringement. Is my work copywritten as I'm typing...

It would be great if someone built in a remote control system so you could be talking to someone about a problem they are having with their system, then take control and show them how to fix it
- Jamie Vidamour
I just wonder about a small tool that is now used by almost every internet marketer - newsletters and autoresponders. How is Wave going to solve this domain? I mean - I have a visitor at my site, and I want him to receive a series of pre-written messages, at given delays (like - every 2-3 days). It would be great if the new visitor was added to consecutive waves, but I believe that one...

as for incorporating features into Friendfeed. I feel there is a lot, if not enough, of them that we discovered and proposed to the Royal Friendfeed Team, even without Wave ...But what have they done ?? ...... do you feel they are dragging a feet little bit? not wanting to do anything? ..or is it an intention, to keep FF small, nice, commercial crap, large audience free? ..... what's holding us back ... hire smart, rev it up to the ever present perfection ! :]

Thanks, Peter and Jerome. I'm watching the video now. Been busy so trying to catch up w/everything all at once. Flock Browser is far superior or if not I will agree wit Greader, Friendfeed and Twhirl :)
- Ian Cleasby
from twhirl
One really good reason to use a desktop reader is that some of them can monitor pages that don't have a feed and alert you to any changes. Essential feature for keeping ALL of your software up to date. Additionally, there are feeds you can't subscribe to in Google Reader, because they require authentication, and unfortunately that's not something Google Reader supports.
- April Russo (app103)
I like Google Reader too, but I am an administrator on 3 forums and have to subscribe to feeds for the admin boards, and that requires a reader that can accept a username & pass to log me in to access the nonpublic feeds. I also like having popup notification when new posts are made on these forums, so I can quickly delete spam within 30 seconds of it being posted.
- April Russo (app103)
feedly is messy. google reader has toomany limitations and is visually all screwed up. i don't understand why newsgator doesn't make an rss reader similar to netnewswire. feeddemon isn't horrible, but it could be so much better. netnewswire is probably the best i've tried and continue to use. only for mac, but the best thing is that it's free.
- Cee Bee
Cee Bee: Is there a specific part of feedly you find messy?
- Edwin Khodabakchian
Excuse my novice-ship, but one condition I enjoy about feedly is that it allows me to both upload to my twitter and my friendfeed accounts, almost simultaneously, and the luxury of sharing it with other g-friends. Now, if feeddemon can do all of this, I'm sold.Sold I tells ya!!
- Terence
edwin -- i have over 600 subscriptions and found it a bit of a nuisance to navigate in the small space on feedly as well as view other people's shares. this goes the same for google -- it tries to fit too much into one space (notes, shares, suggestions, options, etc) whereas with a stand alone program like netnewswire, i can have all the options, settings and other gadgets for different functions not only in a separate tool bar, but menu as well leaving the dedicated rss reader to do what it does best
- Cee Bee
cee bee - thanks for the feedback. I will pass that to the design team.
- Edwin Khodabakchian
used to use that when I didnt have a Mac , it is a good one

For those of you who don't know already, FeedDemon is the (slightly) lesser cousin of NetNewsWire. They both share the same parent - Newsgator.

from twhirl
Unfortunately I think any app has to be benchmarked against Google Reader. If not, it's nothing more than an RSS scraper.
- Glenn Batuyong
have been using this when a) i had to pay for it and b) google reader did not exist. and still love it. if only for sentimental reasons ....
- denise
I don't think I'll ever use a desktop RSS reader. I need my reader to be in the cloud b/c I read from 3 workstations. I love Google reader esp w/ sharing.
- Keith - @tsudo
@tsudohnimh FeedDemon can synchronize feeds across multiple computers too. And you can also share items just like you do with Google Reader. Trouble is, not many people know about these features. FD can be customized to provide an uncluttered, aesthetic interface to read your feeds.
- JazJaz
@JazJaz ty for the info. Does it also provide a web interface for reading feeds?
- Keith - @tsudo
tsudo, FeedDemon syncs with newsgator, which on top of syncing each copy of FeedDemon with each pc you use, also syncs with their online reader at http://www.newsgator.com, also mobile at http://m.newsgator.com
- Shmoe

"Dear Ma.gnolia Community Members or Visitor, Early on the West-coast morning of Friday, January 31st, Ma.gnolia experienced every web service's worst nightmare: data corruption and loss. For Ma.gnolia, this means that the service is offline and members' bookmarks are unavailable, both through the website itself and the API. As I evaluate recovery options, I can't provide a certain timeline or prognosis as to to when or to what degree Ma.gnolia or your bookmarks will return; only that this process will take days, not hours. I will of course keep you appraised here and in our Twitter account. Most importantly, I apologize to all of you who have made Ma.gnolia a home for your bookmarks and community. I know that many of you rely on Ma.gnolia in your day to day work and play flow to safely host you bookmarks, keeping them available around the clock, and that this is a difficult disruption. The good news for me is that I had just made a backup, so I haven't lost a single bookmark, but I feel so sorry for them (Magnolia) and for all the people that might not have had backups done. And it's one of the things I like about all these services, they give you the choice of having your data in your computer, like Gmail, and not like Yahoo for instance. But it's terrible because they are a terrific bookmarking service :(

µblogging services like identi.ca are already de-tinyurl-ing stuff, so that when you hover over the tinyurl you can see where it goes. this new service makes it easy for any programmer to tap into this feature. it's a really neat idea.
