LOL, I can't believe how many socks I've lost from laundry basket to washing machine, to dryer to drawer.

My late husband's solution: pin them together with a stainless steel safety pin. Wash and dry them pinned together. When you put them on, keep the pin fastened to one sock. (You'll always have an emergency pin with you.) Pin them together when you put them in the laundry hamper. It only takes a few seconds and a $1 packet of pins. You'll never lose just one sock and your socks will always match.
