(Kinda like NASA Academy) NASA Science and Technology Institute (NSTI) Summer Scholars Program The NASA Science and Technology Institute (NSTI) Summer Scholars Program, a component of the Institute, is a ten-week summer research experience for undergraduates in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines at a NASA Center. NSTI Scholars will be matched with a mentor to conduct NASA-relevant research. Scholars will be placed at one of three NASA centers including: Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, California Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio

The University of Montana is buzzing about its first new Native American Research Laboratories. The NARL was conceptualized and established by a Native American Scientist, Professor Michael Ceballos. Ceballos(Tepehuan/Tsalagi/Choctaw) serves as Director of NARL and is a Research Assistant Professor in the Division of Biological Sciences at the University of Montana. NARL was established at UM to provide “hands-on” research experiences to Native American undergraduates, graduate students and also high school students in an interdisciplinary research environment. Research diversity and cultural diversity is a core component of the NARL and is provided through the guidance of culturally-relevant faculty mentors and role models.

RockSat is a payload canister that provides a standard payload volume and weight for launch on a sounding rocket for a relatively low cost. The RockSat payload canister is a modular system of cans designed for suborbital flights with Wallops Flight Facility’s (WFF) Sub-SEM ring assembly. The objective of the RockSat payload canister is to give customers a design envelope to build around that will allow easy integration to any WFF rocket using the Sub-SEM ring assembly. T

Calling all students: are you up for the challenge? The Mars Society's Fourth Annual University Rover Challenge (URC) is seeking the best and brightest college teams to design and build the next generation of Mars rovers for a competition at the Mars Desert Research Station (MDRS) in southern Utah. The international competition will be held June 3-5, 2010; thousands in prize money, and a year's worth of bragging rights, are up for grabs.

Geoscience Research at Storm Peak (GRASP) is a year-long program providing exceptional field research experiences for a diverse group of undergraduate students. GRASP is funded by the National Science Foundation’s Opportunity for Enhancing Diversity in GeoScience Program, whose mission is to recruit and retain students from underrepresented groups within the geosciences. Geoscience majors include atmospheric science, hydrology, geography, geology, meteorology, and environmental science.

DIME & WING are components of a NASA competition program which allows teams to design and build a science experiment which will then be operated in a NASA microgravity drop tower facility. This program is a project-oriented activity which lasts one school year for the selected teams. A DIME team will be comprised of high-school-aged students while a WING team will be comprised of students in grades 6-9. Teams may be formed from (for example) a science class, a group of classes, a science club, a Scout troop, or simply a bunch of friends. A team (whether DIME or WING) must have an adult advisor, such as a teacher, parent, or technical consultant.

It is a single-stage unguided sub-orbital launch vehicle designed to provide highly reliable, low-cost access to space. The vehicle's mil-spec, solid rocket motor design is space flight proven, backed by two years of intensive ground qualification testing. The system offers numerous advantages including minimal on-pad effort and simplified pre-launch and launch operations.
