""For years, Deschanel has been the reigning goddess to a certain kind of man, typically the sort who grew up buried under comic books and dusty LP jackets. Half the Internet’s bandwidth seems to be devoted to the indie bombshell, from lovingly crafted photo galleries—her in Elf! her at Sundance…again!—to elaborate paeans to her haunting voice and serious album with M. Ward. This fact wasn’t lost on the producers of her new movie, (500) Days of Summer, in which Ms. Deschanel plays the twinkling pixie who wins Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s heart by complimenting his taste in music (the Smiths!) and proceeds to stomp it to bits. Who but Zooey could get away with that? “Romantic comedies are usually about when love works,” says the 29-year-old actress, in her lovely deadpan. “This is about when it doesn’t.” No happy ending. Boy doesn’t get girl. It’s the perfect twentysomething not-love story—a scrapbook of small, painful snapshots of the girl who didn’t adore you back. “Everyone romanticizes somebody,” she says, voicing this simple romantic truth matter-of-factly before hanging up the phone. And across the country, thousands of hipster hearts break.""

I really want to see this movie, but not because of any objectification of Ms. Deschanel.

I think you have to buy GQ to get higher res versions; there was a photo that was part of the shoot that they did not include, that I tumbr-ed; she is fishing in it. I guess it didn't go with the rest
