Love movies? - this is the place for film and movie talk: Looking forward to the big event movie? Just watched a classic on TV? Have a take on the new trailers? Let's hear it! Admin: Steve Isaacs
Amelie or A Clockwork Orange, probably. It just came via Netflix, so I'll end up watching Amelie today. I refuse to watch A Clockwork Orange

Blues Brothers. People are vicious when you say you haven't seen that...

Grease, Sixteen Candles, Say Anything.

»[…] the heady rush toward production was halted by a studio suddenly confronted by plans for something artier and more complex than bargained for.[…]« - because the world needs another "thinking man's sport" movie like I don't know. Good riddance to another Pitt vanity project where Good and Evil come to a head on a baseball pitch.

"there’s at least one P2P release group that produces XviD (*.avi) BRRips in true 720p HD resolution - beautiful picture quality and AC3 6-channel audio that will play back on some DivX/XviD compatible standalone DVD players, as well as game consoles such as the PS3 & XBOX360. For DVD playback, simply burn as a data disk - no converting, no transcoding."

Just downloaded one, burned it to a DVD-R and it works on my 360 :). Finally I have something high-def to watch while my PS3 is in the shop :) :) :)

PTM>>>>IPT. Only thing going for IPT is having iPhone formatted movies/tv releases. Don't waste your bandwidth on that tracker. Pretome also has the added benefit of having no global ratio to worry about.

"No matter how old, successful or powerful you are - and no matter how much in command of your life you may be - love and sex can still make a complete idiot out of you, under the right (or wrong) circumstances. This truth plays out often enough in public life, and it's the subject of "The Girl From Monaco," an odd and slightly comic thriller from France from director Anne Fontaine."

@LAN I don't think this one has hit theaters yet.
- Brad Williamson
@Brad: I know but Netflix will often allow you to save currently unavailable items to your queue

Ah haaaa ;-) i also think this is an Australian film. Maybe that's another reason why???
- Brad Williamson
idk, but if it's anything like "Legend of Ron Jeremy" it should be hilarious as hell. Although ironically you don't need expose documentaries for behind the scenes looks. Lots of starlets have Twitter accounts and post pics of what they're up (i.e. their regular lives) to throughout the day.
- LANjackal
I know this sounds strange, but I really kinda want to see this because it's supposed to be more of an art film than a movie about perno. BUT, of course, the perno element ain't hurtin' my intrigue ;-)
- Brad Williamson
What an intriguing photo. Where can I get more porn like this?
- Eric Normand
Considering there's no nudity in the picture ... lol

"Ever cooler is the fact that in addition to pre-ordering, you can also vote for your favourite DVD cover. Unfortunately, the three choices that they have available aren’t all that fantastic. I know that they’re going for an old school horror look, but these just look like bargain bin titles to me."

"Shock Till You Drop has some exclusive bad news: Screen Gems and Sony are racing to get another Resident Evil film in the can for release on September 17, 2010. Given the end of the third film, participation of Milla Jovovich is likely, and we know that Paul W.S. Anderson (director of the first film, writer and producer of all three previous movies) is writing this one, and will likely produce but not direct. What more is there to say? A little bit, actually, and it’s after the jump."

"Every time Winona Ryder does something that interests the movie press (something that doesn’t involve getting arrested) she talks about a Heathers sequel. Listening to Ryder, you’d think there was a packaged project all ready to go, waiting in a studio exective’s office with a white sheet thrown over it, just waiting to be revealed like a classy sculpture. Not so, said original director Michael Lehmann when interviewed by Movieline."

Thank the lord for small favors.. I hated that movie.. I'm not real big on Wynona Ryder anyway

I can't even express how excited I am that Burton is working on this. I remember seeing quotes from Depp (years ago) that he'd like to play Barnabas Collins, so I am hoping, hoping, hoping that is still the case.
- Jennifer Dittrich
A Burton/Depp view of Collinswood would be quite a treat indeed!
- Drew
Looks like another one of those "gonna be great but hard to watch" ones
- Michael W. May
good (maybe a tiny bit spoilerish) description of the opening scene by the director at http://www.nytimes.com/interac... -- they apparently used a Phantom camera by Vision Research to get 10,000 frames per second. more 10,000 fps clips of various things here: http://www.visionresearch.com/index...
- Karim
It's unbearably suspenseful, but there isn't much gore if I remember correctly.
- Ahsan Ali
Gonna try to sneak and watch this movie this weekend.
- Amani
Saw it last year and was thoroughly impressed.Surprised it took them so long for a general release.

"So, with that in mind, here’s a completely arbitrary and personal look at the best of 2009 so far. All things being equal, it’s shaping up to be a very good year: Best Picture: Away We Go The Brothers Bloom Duplicity Two Lovers Up" HUGE ++++ on the "Duplicity" pick. Thoroughly enjoyed that :)

"Anchor Bay Films has debuted a trailer for the Ashton Kutcher indie comedy Spread. I know that quite a few people hate Kutcher, but even so, I hope they'll give this indie a chance. Spread premiere at Sundance in January which is where I first got to see it. Let me to tell you, this movie has lots of sex, I mean a lot of sex in it. After seeing it, I wasn't sure what to think, and I wasn't sure if I even liked it. But as time has gone on, I've found myself thinking about it more, not just for the sex, but for the iconic Hollywood story that it tells. It also seems like a story about Kutcher's actual life in Hollywood. You'll see what I mean. Check this out! Watch the official trailer"

Definitely don't hate him. He's super cool, the kind of guy who inexplicably winds up dominating every conversation or group he drops in to. We all know people like that. I think he's much better as a comedian (which technically he's not) than an actor

"The full theatrical trailer for the animated 3D film Planet 51 has appeared at Yahoo. The film is about a human astronaut (voiced by Dwayne Johnson) who lands on an alien planet, only to discover that it looks exactly like Earth. Sure, the denizens are green aliens, but otherwise they’re just like us…and not too happy to have an alien invader in their midst. Gary Oldman, Jessica Biel, Justin Long and John Cleese are also in the voice cast. Joe Stillman (Shrek and Shrek 2, the upcoming Gulliver’s Travels) is credited with the script and Jorge Blanco, Javier Abad and Marcos Martinezare co-directed. See the trailer after the jump."

"Michael Mann’s 2009 crime thriller Public Enemies tells the story of Depression-era bank robber John Dillinger — in the most brooding and serious terms possible. You might think that a movie about one of the most beloved badasses in criminal history would be all about explosiveness and fun. But, then again, you’d probably think the same thing about a movie adaptation of Miami Vice. Exuberance just isn’t Mann’s style, and for people who want a little payoff or satisfaction in their 2.5 hours of plodding, teeth-grinding intensity, that will be a problem. But for people who loved Heat, this is a tour de force."

"Twenty-plus years after his role as undercover police officer Tom Hanson on the TV show “21 Jump Street” made him a teen idol, Johnny Depp has carved out a fascinating career filled with bold acting choices. Now, as Public Enemies hits theaters, here’s a look back at the 10 best movies of Johnny Depp’s career."

hmm... difficult to limit to 10, but my list would need Don Juan DeMarco and Benny & Joon on it. Dead Man is one of my favourite films. Depp is the best of his generation, methinks.
- Michael W. May
How did "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" not make the list? Miss you Hunter S. Thompson.
- Dave - SustainedEuphoria
Nightmare on Elm Street should have been there. I'm glad that "Dead Man" was there
