I think it could use a few tweaks for the menu system, but I really like it. I love travel and geography. That will keep me hooked on it until I unlock all the airports, which will take a very long time. Just a note, I've seen a few people saying that the game crashed on them and lost data. It happened when they got a phone call while they were playing the game. So be careful until the updates and bug fixes come along. Yeah, that was what I meant. I just accidentally figured it out. I was pretty happy about it, too. I just had a snowstorm in Cincinnati which shut down that airport for several minutes. Has something like that happened on your game yet? - Kamilah Reed (K. Gill)

I found out the hard way the starter planes can't reach a far away airport. Unless you have a waypoint. I guess it'll be awhile until I take advantage of the airport I bought in Hawaii. :p - Rodfather

I figured out the limited range of the planes pretty quickly. I haven't messed up yet. All of my airports so far are nearby each other in the northern US and southern Canada. My strategy so far is to try to have at least 1 more plane than I have airports, since I have to buy slots for the planes. I'll try to get some longer range planes so I can cross the ocean soon... I think you have to at least do some jobs along with your Flight Crew winning to get something. Calgary was close so I was able to do jobs there. - Rodfather from iPhone

I might have slowed down my progress. I closed a bunch of smaller airports that were close together and opened more class 2 airports that are evenly spread along the US. It seems harder to fill jobs with 3+ passenger planes I and end up spending a lot more on gas. Hopefully it'll pick up when I start building class 2 planes. - Rodfather

Have you used your layover option to try to consolidate passengers and cargo? I plan to keep *all* of my airports. That's my game goal, to collect all of them. So when I start to have the higher class airports, I can use the small planes to take people from small airports and gather them in layovers at the class 2 & 3 airports until I have enough going to one or two destinations. - Kamilah Reed (K. Yeah, I know, but that should make it last even longer than Tiny Tower... which I'm not quite done with. I started back in December 2011 and I'm just now about to have one copy of every business available. It looks like there are 100 now, unless NimbleBit adds more. I'll probably still mess with it after the floors start repeating. I'm thinking though, for Pocket Planes, the more airports and planes you have, the faster you earn money & xp. I've been playing a lot and I'm still at level 10. You only get one additional airport per level. There's a gang of airports in the whole world. It seems like it takes twice as long to level as the previous one. - Rodfather

Oh, yeah, that's right, good point... I forgot that it limits how many airports you can have at one time. You earn one per level, usually. Maybe that goes beyond 1 eventually... I hope. I wish I knew exactly what the XP were tied to. Coins seem to be part of it, but it's not 1 coin = 1 XP. There are about 240 airports or so. - Kamilah Reed (K. Gill)

I also wanted to spread out my airports because I wanted the flights to be longer. So I won't have to keep booking flights every minute. Instead of flights averaging 5 minutes, it's up to around 20 minutes. - Rodfather

I guess it depends on how you play. I started to rearrange my airport so it became it bit more challenging. Some reshuffled them so they can reach an event city. - Rodfather

Stephen, it seems like eventually you have to make some choices about the planes. It might make sense to scrap a few (but not all) of the smaller ones. I haven't had to yet. I think I'm at Level 8. I have 9 planes. Trying to earn enough for another slot and a new plane right now. I have 9 airports. I'm working my way across the north Atlantic. I have Nuuk, Greenland, aiming for Reykjavik, Iceland next... maybe. Or I might change my mind and work on going south. - Kamilah Reed (K. Gill)

I have a lot of 3 & 4 capacity planes in the air, but the 2 capacity planes are making more. I think I'm upgrading my planes too soon when I don't have enough airports to fill them. - Rodfather

I've upgraded (spent bux to level up range, speed, and weight) my high-earning planes. That way I might not have to worry about buying the higher class planes right away. - Kamilah Reed (K. Gill)

Oh and class 2 planes can only fly to class 2+ airports. You can't upgrade a class 1 airport to a class 2. When doing an upgrade to an airport, it gives you more jobs and layovers. - Rodfather

No. It's too expensive. I figured I would just buy class 2 airports to give me more jobs for now instead of upgrading class 1 airports. - Rodfather

I replaced 3 Bearclaws with the 3 types of Mohawks, so that I could easily make runs from the US & Canada out to Greenland & Iceland (since I'm trying to cross over into Europe and beyond). Seems to be working out well. I have the parts for a Birchcraft, so my next step will be to buy another Class 2 or 3 airport, since the only one I have so far is Detroit. - Kamilah Reed (K. Gill)
