Lucky to be flying Emirates; the best service, in flight entertainment, hotels, planes and destinations. By the way, what plane is it?

Leo lots of pictures please, have great time in Dubai, and come home safe.
- Vincent Chen
Now, that's traveling in style! Have a great trip.

Scary thing is that he posted this 11 hours ago and is probably still on the plane. Quite a flight.
- Andrew Leyden
hope your at&t int'l data plan goes better on this trip. I like @ATTSusan for customer care via Twitter as needed.

Skype client can be used over WiFi on iPhone again,. the same other VOIP clients as SIP.

What is this a photo of? Is this in front of the seat?

New Wired=awesome. http://www.wired.com/culture... "'What's ubiquitous and cheap? Data.' And what is scarce? The analytic ability to utilize that data. "
I'm a former sigint analyst, it's all useless data until it's analyzed. BTW-curious. Galapag.us appears to be 3 years old and the site is "coming"?
- Jack (a.k.a. Jeber)
Yes... Conceived in 2006, but I've been in grad school for a couple years. Just graduated and have more time to devote to this again. Which branch were you?

Great time to be in Paris. Can almost smell the chestnuts roasting. Enjoyed La Coupole in Montparnasse.

Why are you making me jealous! It's the one place I dream of visiting but have never been to. Must make it a point to go and quit dreaming. Take lots of pics!
- Adriana
I agree -- great time to be there. A little cool (but I came back to Canada last year after Paris in late November to -20c and snow so in comparison not so bad), but with the right clothes there I kept warm. Getting into museums and other venues was dead easy -- no crowds.
- Brian Sullivan
I'll be there for New Years. Tell me if there is anywhere I should go. I am also doing London, Budapest, Vienna, and Prague. First time for Europe.
- Daniel Zarick
dont take this the wrong way but it seems like the uk is following in the french's footsteps by bailing out everything
- sam
from twhirl
Well, HSBC is an international bank, so I don't see how their creation of a venture fund is a bail out, and if I read it correctly, even the government backed one will be using private equity money and not taxpayer's funds.

Bucks is where Netscape was incorporated. I think a few other companies were incorporated there, too. Lots of Silicon Valley history there.

I find I really miss this on any other touch screen device now. My girlfriend's Garmin satnav seems incredibly clunky by comparison to my iPod Touch
- Graeme Shaw
Yes, I've gotten used to pinching over the last couple of months on the iPhone. With potentially 48GB on board, Carl-Zeiss optics, 2 x LED flashes, video-recording capability, 5MP camera...the Nokia N97 makes up in other areas 8-)
- Arnold Aranez
If Nokia don't mess this up with a poor real-use battery life and awful firmware at launch (like they often do) I'm tempted to get a second phjone contract for this. Okay, that'd be a bit stupid but it's amazing what phonelust can do!
- Martin Bryant
It's still S60. Would have to redo the OS for touch. Tacking it on always sucks.
- Rodfather
It's not just pinching, there are some interesting apps you can write for multitouch.
- Loren Heiny
I'm still getting used to the pinch cause it doesn't always pick them up for me
- alphaxion
Any idea whether the touch display is capacitive or resistive? I'd say the latter, since on the Nokia's video the person uses fingernail.
- Tomas Rollo
BB Storm had that limitation too - huge NO for me. I love the multi-touch on iPhone!! Arnold does make some good points - those Nokia specs are hawt!!
- Susan Beebe
Awesome specs, fairly sexy design, *but* old mobile device philosophy that will lead to Nokia losing more market share.
- mikepk
ahh, they probably just need to bring it out... <cough> like the G1. Don't want to be called a "copy cat" immediately.

So I had to replace my keyboard yesterday (a couple of keys died) and I purchased the new flat key Apple model (with chord...I need a numeric keypad). I've been typing since I was 8, so I'm a traditionalist with keyboards, and I thought I might not like it. 24 hours in, and seriously the best keyboard I've ever owned.

This keyboard is really nice to use, very smooth
- Darren Heydon
I want to get one like that as well ... really like the profile .. but finding one at a reasonable price for a PC isn't that easy
- Steven Hodson
I went with the cordless, and I'd agree - the best I've ever owned.
- l0ckergn0me
I love the numberless wireless keyboard but find myself going back to the standard one every now and then. When Apple gets it right, there's nothing else even close.
- michael sean wright
I spent 2 days on a friends Mac, ever since I've been using the apple keyboard. Very nice. The mouse...not so much.
- Joe Pierce
WANT WANT WANT WANT!!! I wish my school district would get these instead of the crappy, annoying iMac keyboards they have. I make three times as many mistakes on the ones they got than on normal PC keyboards (on which I make three times as many mistakes as laptops, but that's beside the point). I'm also not the only one. I dislike being without a right mouse button (and a few computers have mice without the scroll ball), but... Decent keyboard = more important.

absolutely with you there Duncan, gorgeous piece of kit & works wonderfully

@l0ckergn0me my first job when I left school (and 6mths of a BA that bored me shitless so I quit) was with a Merchant Bank and one of my jobs was to hard code numbers every day. Since then I nearly exclusively use the numeric keypad for number entry...I liked the cordless, but I need my numbers
- Duncan Riley
@Chris: I'm talking about the -- what are they called? -- mighty mouse. One big button. Can I still do it? (Every time I log in; no saving of settings...)
- Voyagerfan5761
from fftogo
invanriant, agreed, and its dumb that Apple doesn't offer it. - Voyagerfan5761, I actually ended up liking my old Apple keyboard. I stuck with a Logitech Win keyboard for the first 6 months, then I decided to "TRY THAT" keyboard, and I stuck with it ever since. Having said that, I've since purchased a top of the range Logitech mouse, and you'll pry that from my cold dead hands
- Duncan Riley
Which Logitech? I generally think the buttons on Logitechs need a bit too much force to press, but I'm getting a little tired of the scroll ball on the mightymo getting clogged up.
- invariant - farewell FF
@Duncan: Was "that" keyboard the kind sheathed in transparent plastic with white keys, a flat bottom, and USB port on the back? Those are the ones I'm referring to.

Sorry but nothing beats the: Microsoft Natural Ergo Keyboard 4000, I can type on that thing for days and fingers feel great. The Apple full keyboard is really nice but I need an ergonomic keyboard, and I love having all the shortcut keys. I want to use a keyboard for everything I do. Same goes for mouse the Mighty Mouse is nice, but Logitech MX Revolution is perfect.
- Justin Yost
@Voyagerfan5761 yes, that's the one sitting in my garbage bin at the moment :-)
- Duncan Riley
Justin: ergo keyboards are hell for people like me who are "self taught" typists. In my case, different fingers might hit the same key depending on what I'm typing (and I think this helps me avoid the RSI problems true touch typists have btw). And now Microsoft is making even their non-ergo keyboards wavy. That's just a frustration to me.
- invariant - farewell FF
I'm using the same Apple keyboard at work on a Lenovo T61. The keys on the Lenovo are terrible and it feels like I can type faster on the apple keyboard. This keyboard will follow me for many years

@invariant: Agreed about ergo keyboards. @Duncan: Glad I'm not alone. :)

Very, very recommended. Like, insanely recommended - best keyboard I've owned (wireless version), by far. And I loved my Microsoft Internet Pro keyboards. Nothing comes close to either the one Duncan has or the wireless one - nothing. It's a dream. I type SOOOOOOOOOOOOO fast on this, compared to other keyboards. I also happen to love the Mighty Mouse, so... :)
- l0ckergn0me
i wish they had a trackball version of the mighty mouse
- jerobins
I have the Bluetooth version w/o numeric keypad, and, I have to agree, it's the best keyboard I've ever used.
- Glen Mistletoe
I didn't think I would like it either, but I love it too... and my mighty mouse.
- Carmen
My 4 month-old black MacBook has a smaller version of your keyboard and I love it for its low-profile, highly tactile feel. I had my Mac keyboard converted to the DVORAK keyboard layout, which I've been using for the past 4 years. It's really better than QWERTY any day! I can type much faster and with less errors compared to the full-size keyboard I had with my Windows box. The bluetooth Mighty Mouse sure beats using the trackpad, and has convenient programmable buttons to bring up Expose and Dashboard.
- Siddharth Deb
I had a similar experience... was worried I'd hate it and ended up loving the new keyboard. (wired version, have to have the numeric keypad)
- mikepk
hmmmm..... I didn't mean that the way you've said it....maybe it needs to be cleaned up, because he is a nice guy...well, at least publicly :-)
- Duncan Riley
no no, it is just me making something out of nothing - i'm sure he or anyone else will think anything of it. I've been in contact with him a few times now and am stunned at how nice/polite he is
