RT @problogger: 50 most influential bloggers of 09 - not sure I deserve to be quite that high :-) http://www.incomediary.com/50-most... [Congrats!]
Congrats, Mrinal. - N.G. Gordon - RadarSync
I am not on it - it was Darren :) - Mrinal Desai
No Scoble? I think that was a mistake. - Jesse Stay
agree though he does not blog that often ... so maybe we need a list of microbloggers now :) - Mrinal Desai
He still blogs pretty often, and have you ever been linked by Scoble? It kills anything Arrington or many of the other guys on that list could do. Scoble has influenced many - not sure why he's not on there. - Jesse Stay
very cool - def. then should be on! - Mrinal Desai

Michael Dell @churchillclub - "If u get the latest processor, office 2010 and win 7, you will love your PC again" :)
So long as Win 7 is supported by all that new hardware. Mine isn't - Jesse Stay
didnt realize new hardware didnt support it - that is a wee bit surprising :) - Mrinal Desai

Leo Laporte
I left Twitter for Jaiku. Then Jaiku left me for Google. I moved in with Pownce but it died. I went back to Twitter, but flirted with Plurk, Identica, and Rejaw, and even tried doing it myself with Laconica but it was Twitter I really loved. Twitter finally broke my heart so I left it for Friendfeed. Now Friendfeed is leaving me for Facebook. No...
It's like the internet version of Days of Our Lives - Jon, the Chilled Beartato
HAHAHAHAHA.... - David from IM
Haha. ROFL - Roberto Bonini
is friendfeed going anywhere or will it just get better? - Craig Shipp
I'm with you Leo. - Oracio
It reads better than Soap - my roadmap is very similar but I'll forgive FF and live happily ever after with it (for the time being, anyway) - Nicholas Paul Gordon from iPhone
You're the best Leo. Canadians are the funniest people. - Dan Lessard
I'm betting they'll slowly digest it into the Facebook news feed. They claim that Friendfeed is staying put for now, but that won't last. - Ken Bauer
And we keep following Leo all over the place! - Robert Scoble
Long live Leo - Randy Pollock
When will we all get in a long term relationship and stop getting our hearts broken? - Nate Pilling
so what is more important, the medium or the people, hope that FF will let us export our content, and our social netork :) (in my wild dreams) - abdellah
Need ice cream? I'm new to FF, and kind of sad I didn't jump on the proverbial wagon sooner! - Elizabeth K. Barone
Feels to me like maybe it's time to go back to building a distributed network, rather than hopping from service to service. - Ken Sheppardson
I hope you leave your standard breadcrumbs so we can find you in the next chapter of social interaction. - jcunwired
But where to next? That's the question. Wave sounds great, but the implementation will be a PAIN. So where? Oh LeoMoses...where is our path in the desert? - ‘-.-’ Tutivillus Grift
Sounds like a hurtin' country song in the making. - Bill Rodman
The wave of the future is wave - Randy Pollock
Well you can't say that what is happening in the 'social sphere' is boring by any means! - Matt Cassem
I think Leo's audience is more likely to click "Like" or "comment" than Scoble's is. When Leo and Rob are both posting on FF, Leo gets more likes and comments - Mark
Didn't you leave a post earlier saying how funny it was that people complain anytime there's a change (referring to the FF buyout)? This sounds like a complaint to me. - Fleagle
Not complaining - just thinking about the future. I think a little Friendfeed DNA will vastly improve Facebook. And I think Facebook is already the big winner with the general populace. I also think we geeks need a corner somewhere else to hang out in. - Leo Laporte
And I have no plans to leave Friendfeed. Yet. - Leo Laporte
Yet being the operative word..... - Roberto Bonini
sounds like a country song to me - gavin
As for this geeky alternative, http://a.tinythread.com/ just showed up in my feed this morning. Thoughts? - Craig B.
I feel more of a personal connection with the FriendFeed team than I have with other services I've left, and that will be a big part of why I will stay as long as possible. - Louis Gray
^^^ replace "team" with "community" and there's my reason for sticking it out. - jcunwired
Its also going to take a very long time to go through content and bookmark/store it elsewhere. Evernote is going to be used heavily in the weeks to come. - jcunwired
The only way to have control is to use your own URL - Craig Shipp
Wait till you meet Facebook's randy cousin Overly Friendly Book =) - Cynthia Yildirim
what Louis gray said. I'm going to hang around until the lights go out. - Jordan Brock from BuddyFeed
What they said, I don't see any reason to leave FriendFeed unless something actually changes that makes the service worthless to me. - Craig B.
And many times you cheated Twitter, she was always loyal to you. Thats mean someting! - Jacque from f2p
yup me too Louis and I don't know any of them - Thomas Power
Plurk's not worth leaving anyone for. - Rachel R.
Leo, I think you need to change your FaceFeed status to "It's Complicated" ;) - Daynah
Play this thread off, keyboard cat. - Fleagle
You have to go back to your blog. It still loves you Leo. - Dave Winer
Screw you, Friendfeed! - Andrew Leahey
Users today are investors too - only the 'exit' for us is not lucrative.... its the other way sometimes :) - Mrinal Desai
I just had the idea: wow, how good will Faceboook become though this input? (JUST imagine tagging ppl in FB the way U can Tag them in FF.) - oliver gassner
Love Stinks. - shelter watch
I'm quite surprised that you could keep track of all that! - Robert Alex
Leo Laporte listed his relationship as: "its complicated." - Randy Shapiro
Damn thats complicated - drmacintosh
Don't worry Leo, its not you, its them... - Steven McGurn
so where do we go now? - Brian Appleby
I agree with Jonathan Hardesty "It's like the internet version of Days of Our Lives" - And sites keep getting killed off only to come back to life a month later! - Amy Flynn
very true, however on the other hand, we are getting closer to that one service which everyone will be on... and I dont think twitter is going to be that one - Bryce Campbell
Facebook buying FriendFeed is like having to MOVE just when you got your house all dressed up and made into a comfy HOME! I don't feel like doing it again! - Arleen Anderson
Now that Facebook and Friendfeed have married, I'm waiting for Twitfacefeedplebospacening. - Anthony Marco
You all just have ants in your pants :) - Jeunelle Foster
Leo, u by your self made two companies (services) out of 3 famous and made Google interested enough to buy 2 of them (Jaiku & FF). Google also tried to flirt with Twitter as well. So which one u choose now? Cause we will follow u :P - Sam Ehsan
Sounds like some of my past love affairs. Of course, I'm married now. That, um, was prior. - Paul Chaney
lmfao, its so true leo, so true! - Derek Bender
Feeling a bit worn around the edges? ... me too! - Susan Beebe from iPhone
Speaking of Days Of Our Lives: Didn't that show jump the shark when the serial killer was unmasked as Marlena (a character I used to have a mad crush on, and who's now mostly a professional victim)? Then all the "killed" characters came back to life, since they were only what I call "soap opera dead"... - Dennis Jernberg
And if everyone follows you, then your all having affairs all over the place! LOL - Sandra Large
I think it's back to the TWiT Army! - Paul Salzman

No mention of Microsoft Vine? - Robert MacEwan
yep. welcome to another episode of; As the Stomach Turns. one big soap opera. - Scratch5150
I've decided I'm not going to tell ANYONE which site I'm favoring... not even myself! I swear! As soon as I decided that FF was my new place (a couple months ago) THIS happens! It's like magic, but in a bad bad way... - Mark "DerBingle" J
Why do we all assume this is a bad thing? Maybe the FF Facebook combo will be better?? - Craig Shipp
Maybe they'll keep both open -- FF is the open side, and FB is the closed side. - John Flinchbaugh from IM
Social Networks are sluts? - TheDiva Rockin
It sure is. - Jason Hill
I know exactly how you feel. What's a person to do? I am mad at Twitter for suspending some of my accounts. First, the accounts kept causing the password to reset, then they were suspended, all around the time of the DOS attacks. All I ever used Twitter for was to advertise my businesses, and for fun. Now I don't know where to go. - DogPatch
Here's some thoughts on what's going to happen:http://kennethreitz.com/blog... - Kenneth Reitz

One of the funniest sad stories I've heard in a long time... - Aviva Gabriel
Gotta find one who is a lady in public and a whore in the bedroom. One who looks like a woman, but thinks like a man. One who tells you you're the only person in their world and worships the ground you walk on. One who's from Venus but want's to live on Mars. One who you know will always be there even when the chips are down. One who looks like a movie star, but doesn't bust the credit... more... - Jan Simmonds
I think a lot of people LOVE to think negatively and don't want to think positively. They think FB is BAD and will ruin FF, but I think if they do it well, FB won't be the bad guy. I think most people who are irked about this are irked because they think the FFers "sold out" to the "man". - Molly, "sorry"
@Mollyanna - I disagree. I am irked because the future of FF is completely uncertain. It's more likely that FB will let FF flounder and close it down than it is that FB will invest time and resources in maintaining and enhancing FF. FB has other interests and is splitting up the FF dev team. That does not bode well for FF. I don't begrudge the FF devs for taking the money. I would be... more... - Fa La La La Lindsay
Leo, I hope you mention FriendFeed in your Dubai TED talk ! :) I'll try to be there ! - Ahsan Ali aka. Slick
@Jan You're an asshat. - Ian Wright from BuddyFeed

Maybe they're just not that into you. - Elizabeth Johnson
Wait... who's on first? - Michael Rosenau
Logged in to suggest that many of us have tridden a similar path, but a lot of people have beaten me to it! I miss Pownce - SpionKopRed
wow, Leo. You've got relationship issues! - Justin Bradshaw
there there, Shawny's here... - sofarsoShawn
I sense a pattern here.. maybe you always seem to go after web2.0 services that are bent on ditching you :) - Shivanand Velmurugan
Robert Scoble
Talk about Facebook buying FriendFeed here (on FriendFeed, of course):
I'm not sure what it means, but I hope the goodness of Friendfeed stays intact. - Tom Landini
About time! - Rob Haas from iPhone
I guess Facebook just got real time search engine! - Robert Scoble from iPhone
What do facebook get out of it? - Ruchit Garg
Fact or fiction? - Jason Cronkhite from iPhone
I haven't seen likes and comments stream real-time this fast before. - ydfeed
It depends on who lays claim to our posted and aggregated material. - jcunwired
it could work. if Friendfeed completely replaces Facebook - Edgar Rodríguez
I think it's a brilliant move, although bringing this into the Facebook walled garden would ruin it. - Derek Shanahan
how much for? - Ruchit Garg
Is it true Robert? - Kevin Whalen
BAD 'n SAD :(( - sid 【ツ】
Great match to take on the Twitter machine. - Ryan Cummins
what is next..facebook killing twitter integration...SCORE....?? - Denis
++Edgar - Ryan
Presumably a technology acquisition then, Facebook is buying the team and the tech. - DGentry
Good for Facebook, BAD for us. NOOOOOOOOOOOO - Nir Ben Yona
I don't like it - Jason Hargrove
Bad news, if true. - LogEx
Just because Facebook bought Friendfeed, doesn't necessarily mean they will do anything with the service. At least maybe not right away. People need to chill out. - Alex Knight
hope it doesn't mess w/ twitter integration - Ken Seto
makes a lot of sense - f.b. now has a power house of real-time all-stars. fixes many of the feature 'wish' lists for f.b. - actually a major positive sign for innovation. congrats to the F.F. team. - michael sean wright
How can i shut down my ff account? - Fotis Alexandrou
I need a few hours and possibly large amounts of chocolate - Bwana ☠
If you are right, that "Facebook just got real time search engine", that is good - as FB really, really needed it for a long time. - Bora Zivkovic
:( - Sinem Co
yes, this is fast. Reminds me of a few hours ago when I was on Freenode - Ian Tindale
There goes your data. - Jason Hargrove
This will probably be bad. like all purchases, it will be an "afterthought" and never be fully allowed to develop and flourish. - Ryan Jones
Man this is really SUCKS!! :((( we all know Facebook strategies on the web :(( Whey will drive FriendFeed to the helll and I'm pretty sure of this :((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((( BAD SUCKS SAD :((( - FFTornado
Funny thing is, if you posted about this on Facebook, 99.9999% of it's users would go "huh, what's FriendFeed anyway?" - Richard Matthias
It almost seemed inevitable since Facebook has been copying so much of Friendfeed in recent months. It's good for the founders of FF and may benefit those of us who use both on a regular basis. Maybe they'll just leave FF alone? - Kenley Neufeld
someone tell me what they will do with it? Nothing maybe? Kill it, maybe? - Francine Hardaway
Wonder how they'll integrate, separate services with more interaction or FF swallowed by Facebook. - Steven Cains
Buy as is use it's IP and close it down or run as separate business? Either way, didn't see that coming. - Keith Bennett from BuddyFeed
It was bound to go down. Like we used to say on the block shootin' dice "Big Bank Take Little Bank" - professor daddyo
I do, however, wish tha tmore sites would implement this commenting engine. - Ryan Jones
Fotis: haha, wait too long, and you'll never be able to close your FF account ;) - Jason Hargrove
not believing it until another source confirms... - Benton
Congrats to the friendfeed team. Worried about the future though. - Andy Roth
Whats FriendFeed anyways? - Marco Horta
so that Facebook can maybe copyright the "Like" button? lol - Than R
How are we going to abbreviate it now? FBFF? FFFB? F^3B ? - Harry Wolff
I receive the breaking news via BNO News at this moment: Facebook acquires FriedFeed... - Torsten Eckert
haha you're right Richard - Ken Seto
Wow - Rodfather
I am stuck in Texas and have not confirmed myself. - Robert Scoble from iPhone
OMG. - Nathan Chase
maybe they can implement threads? - Jeremy Toeman
It looks like a defensive move. I think it's better fro FB to acquire FF than incorporating twitter functionalities in their status feature. - Pablo Paniagua
double wow. - Brian Daniel Eisenberg
Friendbook? Facefeed? - Jeff Harbert
If it's true, I suspect FriendFeed as we know it will be gone, but Facebook will be greatly improved. - Costa Walcott
bah. i will go do something else. this news isn't helping - Edgar Rodríguez
trying to look on the bright side - maybe we'll get those iPhone/Blackberry apps for better access to FriendFeed - Stuart Miniman
But if it isn't true we would have heard by now. - Robert Scoble from iPhone
apprehensive about this - Liz Polay-Wettengel
I want to hear the $$$ number - moo yu
Congrats to ff team...but how does this work? I have 2 different accounts...and I like it that way...I don't want to share/spam my friends on facebook with what I have here... - brainno722 (Peter)
@robert no we wouldnt have - Jeremy Toeman
Originally posted this to your other FF/FB post before you astarted this one: I don't see the point of Facebook acquiring FriendFeed. They are pretty much identical services (well, FF represents just the News Feed portion of Facebook) I don't see how they can incorporate FriendFeed into Facebook. If they really did buy it, then I see this as them going for programming talent more so... more... - Christopher A. Wichura
I'm hoping this improves Facebook (just like everyone else). Facebook has gotten horrible stale for me of late. - Harry Wolff
Bad bad bad bad bad bad ::runs screaming down the hall:: - Kandeezie from fftogo
This stream itself is the evidence of WHY Facebook bought FF. - Steven Walling
What's looking shiny and new now? :-) - Rob Michael (Atmos Trio)
I've been needing a reason to get re-interested in Facebook, this could be it. - JonInteractive
Friend management will need to be enhanced/overhauled. Otherwise, the noise will make the combined product unusable. - Peter Ghosh
No! I am going to cry! I HATE FACEBOOK! I have a Facebook account, but FriendFeed is way better. Life is over! Apocalypse. - Zachary TG
Seriously, how can i shut it down? - Fotis Alexandrou
We'll have to wait for more details to see exactly what Facebook is planning to do with FF. - 321
Bodes badly for FriendFeed. --rj - Roger Jennings
Bad bad bad bad bad bad ::runs screaming down the hall:: - Kandeezie from fftogo
I think this is more of a "send the friendfeed traffic to facebook" than any kind of technical leverage. My biggest concern here: in order to exchange dialogue with people on facebook I need to be friends with them vs. being able to do it on friendfeed without having to friend them up. I find this valuable as there may be a topic or 5 that I want to engage with user "X" on, but I don't... more... - Erik Boles
I am disappointed by this news... I don't like Facebook at all... And I'm afraid they will just kill FriendFeed with their awful cluttered interface... - Fa La La La Lindsay
It depends on how they integrate it. Did they buy it for the search engine, or did they buy it as a potential for extending the reach of Facebook into real time conversations? It's all about the life stream now right? So probably Facebook's attempt to stake a claim there. - Tony "Frosty" Welch
bad days are coming - Ahmet Soyata
Fotis, why do you want to shut down our FF account? - Alex Knight
This is bad news for Yahoo 360°. Oh wait, too late. - Ian Tindale
Bad bad bad bad bad bad ::runs screaming down the hall:: - mary
Crap! - Zachary TG
This is disgusting. - Zachary TG
First of all, I love the name "Facefeed." ROFL Second, this is business boys. Happens all the time. Why do you think innovation keeps happening. FB will integrate or kill off FF, and something else will happen. It's a natural cycle. - Francine Hardaway
For a second I thought it was a joke, but then I checked Friendfeed's Blog. http://blog.friendfeed.com/2009... Damn it. - Alejandro
Nir Ben Yona +1 - Muge Cerman
Turmoil - Ian Tindale
wondering if i should continue aggregating all my online activity in frienfeed now that facebook owns it!! - Gtp19
I can't begin to process this right now. Too much work to focus on. Later when I read this 10,000 mile long thread and have a glass of Cab in hand. - Michele Lorito-Chase
Geeks and fb not a good mach - thomas elton from iPhone
We fear change - Ian Tindale
Not feeling real good about this, hope fully Facebook will do right by the FF community, but I'm not holding my breath. Glad for the FF team though - Kim Landwehr
Twitter dissed again. - JonInteractive
if you look closely at FF the large majority of FF posts are twitter posts, so there was not that much original content on FF in the first place... - Ingmar
So FB failed to buy Twitter, - so they buy FF which is just a UI for twitter.. - Nick Halstead
Makes a lot of sense for Facebook. And we find this very healthy ^^ - twitscoop
People need to stop freaking out. The Facebook/Friendfeed buy out was just announced. Wait for details people. - Alex Knight
It could be bad, it could be good. As long as Facebook doesn't try to port their functionality over, I'm fine with it being a financial acquisition. - Adam Reyher
Crap, its official ! - Peter Dawson
This is really bad... a wonderful tool based on killer technology will go over into this mass market teeny poking culture. Bah! - Markus Tressl
then again it is great for linking FB, TW, flickr and so on - Ingmar
Here is the FF post on the acquisition: http://blog.friendfeed.com/2009... - Mrinal Desai
Great, why did I bother creating an account here? I could have held out. - desinole
if this is true, for the love of god, please don't Facebook go and mess up FriendFeed as they have their own system, Facebook is a mess these days, Friendfeed is one of the 2.0 sites that actually has concentrated on doing a few things well, complete opposite to Facebook. - Carl Grint
I suppose Friendfeed was considerably lacking in LOLcats. - Ian Tindale
Cuz we all know that facebook doesn't respect user's privacy and you've got basically everything on ff, youtube, twitter, digg whatever you do - Fotis Alexandrou
Paul Buckheit will now be a house husband:-) - Francine Hardaway
Smart for Facebook but I prefer Friendfeed the way it is.What, we'll be throwing rabbits next? - Janet Fouts
FriendFeed listens to the community. Facebook doesn't. Not to mention they're ENTIRELY different communities. - Adam Reyher
If true, congrats to the FF Founders! - Jason Cronkhite from iPhone
If they keep FriendFeed as a separate site, and still upgrade regularly, this is fine. If FriendFeed winds up in the dead pool, then it sucks. - Steve Sill
Maybe I should rediscover my Orkut account. - Ian Tindale
I was just thinking how Friendfeed had stayed out of recent takeovers, mergers and hence cyber attacks. Will Friendfeed now be taken over by celebs and spammers too? - Nils Geylen
Not sure why this news makes me nervous. Please tell me it's going to be ok Scoble... - Lucas
FF has been FB's incubator for awhile. - Peter Warnock
it's true damn!!!! - Edgar Rodríguez
How can I spam on this thread please ? Any idea ? - Toucouleur
Quickest/Biggest thread ever - Ian Tindale
Facebook has ZERO respect for users' wishes... Friendfeed is incompatible with that. Friendfeed will be going away. :( Their blog post says as much: "FriendFeed.com will continue to operate normally **for the time being**. We're still figuring out our longer-term plans for the product" - tollie williams
Ideally, FB will leave FF to do the sweet innovating they are doing and just take the awesome features and put them into FB - Ryan
This is the first time I've used Friendfeed in a year. Good move on their part. - chantelle
How Much ? $$$ ;-) - Jacopo Gio
I'm heading back to Jaiku where it's nice and quiet - Ian Tindale
So, where do we migrate to now? - Byron McCollum
FriendFeed functionality on Facebook would be nice. The reverse, not so much. They're trying to address two entirely separate purposes and as such, need to remain completely separate. - Adam Reyher
back to the twitter - emresezgin
I want numbers. how much did facebook pay? - Zac Bowling
soon friendfeed will = Jaiku - johnny2009
Hum...let's see what happens. - Chip Hanna
Stay here until FB does something dumb with FF - Ryan
The rhetoric seems a bit too "Facebook will do what they want with us" and not "we will remain FF and continue forward". Seems as if FB went for the tech and we could lose FF as a seperate entity. Boo. - Derek Shanahan
confirmed by facebook press release. - Zac Bowling
Love 'em or hate 'em....Facebook made a phenomenal purchase. - Kevin Pruett
I see a ton of Wall Spam. Facebook users just don't get it when you port your twitter updates over. There is too much for them to wrap their heads around. This will be a hard transition. - Ryan Cummins
And I was REALLY getting fond of FriendFeed. From now on only downhill applicationwise? - Bart
Not happy about this. I use Facebook, but don't like it. It reminds me of AOL from 10 years ago. - David Sharpe
I agree that I don't want FB to mess up FF, but this will also give FF a higher profile and bring in many more users...which we may or may not like, judging by what happened on Twitter. I hope FF doesn't die off like Jaiku because I really think FF offers a more valuable and useful interface. - Cathryn Hrudicka
One thing to consider is this: If we have "trusted" the FriendFeed people not to screw things up, hopefully we can trust them to make sure they're still in control in the terms of the acquisition. - Adam Reyher
What's it going to be called? Failbook? - Ian Tindale
Its going to be called Facebook. - DGentry
I hope this is a joke.. Damn it, I dont like Facebook now there is nowhere to go... F*** - Jacque
I am trying to imagine how this will be a good thing for existing FF users. It feels so right and so wrong all at once!...Maybe at least my kids and wife will finally get what I've been ignoring them for over the past year. - Thom Kennon
FeedFace - Ian Tindale
Is that means we're going to see more extremist groups around, now that FB has acquired FF? - Nir Ben Yona
so where do all the cool kids go now? we need another startup, stat! - h1ro
I am afraid... what johnny2009 have said can really be the future... soon friendfeed will = Jaiku - Ahmed Mubbashir Khan
Damn,I've just"got friendfeed,and i love it.I definately don't like facebook.What does it mean for twitter? - Paul Downing
Any investors want to predict the buyout price? - Kevin Pruett
am gonna wait for google wave... coz in facebook, i cant access the complete stream for a month ago, the site goes down very often while browsing, and privacy issues galore!! congratulations for friendfeed but its jus me!!! - Gtp19
Maybe we´re seeing here one of FriendFeeds biggest discusions ever. I´m sceptic about the future of FF as a standlone service... - Torsten Eckert
What concerns me most is what happens to my friends here (and that I have to interact with my friends THERE). Will we have to be friends to interact in the same way we have the last couple of years? - jcunwired
This is very good for FriendFeed as long as Facebook doesn't corrupt them. I would have preferred to see Google buy FF but I know with their focus on Wave I don't think it would have been a good fit. I like the Facebook platform, but they have done too many shady things in the past for me to trust them. - Adam Teece
all of the conversation is happening on FriendFeed and Twitter - nothing on Facebook. Think we'd scare away Facebook if everyone starts having lots of conversations there - like on Scoble's fan page? - Stuart Miniman
They can or don't have to fix FF's FB app now. - ydfeed
Is Twitter going to buy Myspace? - marcus bösch
Ha Stuart - great point *Facebookers take cover* - Kimberle Kelly
That does it. I'm going back to usenet. - Ian Tindale
What's next- Macy's buying Gimble's? - Thom Kennon
Apple buys China - Ian Tindale
what do you think Robert? - courtney benson
All I can think of is now a lot of people can feel the pain the dedicated Pownce community felt, but at least you're not getting shut down, just yet. - Mike Lewis
I'm not a big facebook user, but my gut feeling is that like twitter buying summize, it will mark the end of major innovations. I hope I'm wrong. But they should totally go with the facefeed mashup name. - motownmutt
I dont see any potential for competition with twitter FB and Twitter serve different purposes as does FriendFeed - iluvblackwomen
Sorry but renaming Facebook to 'Facefeed' is utterly stupid. - Alex Knight
It'll be called ScobleFeed - Ian Tindale
does making google reader more social has anything to do with this buyout??! - Gtp19
yeah this was good for facebook. bad for anyone who liked friendfeed. - Liz
FriendFeed is very good, a better way to use Twitter & etc. Knowing this, I still rarely use FF. Not going to start using Facebook more. - Nicole
Actually, this could be death for Twitter when you think about it. The people I know who are in FB are not likely to add TWO more nets to their lifestream. FriendFeed makes more sense for them. Maybe Twitter just stays as the dumb pipe it's become for many of us here. - Thom Kennon
Echoing what others have said - My guess: Facebook will get better, Friendfeed will get worse, Twitter will matter a lot less. - Matthew Blaisdell
Good for FB UI and search, questionable for the FF community and its independent spirit ... - Bo Stern
last comment 2 hours ago on FF by Paul Buchheit, FF CEO, was just " :)" http://friendfeed.com/paul #friendbook - Jacopo Gio
The main reason why I came to FF was because when I tried to treat FB the same as FF, i was talking to a wall. At least people interact here. At FB, it's all about the cheesy games/apps. - Matthew Horton from iPhone
Just like most acquisitions, it could be good and it could be bad. I trust that FriendFeed will live on as FriendFeed, only sharing their tech with Facebook. Possibly more integration between the two sites. If you were FF/FB, what would you do? - Nick Humphries
Twitter, Friendfeed and Facebook are three entirely different animals. Facebook eats Friendfeed and poops out little bits of content that once belonged to us. Twitter continues to thrive as the broadcast conversation-wannabe that it always was. - jcunwired
Nick - think again. Its going to go away - read the tea leaves in this statement: "Your data will not go away any time in the near term future - we are committed to our users" - Bret Taylor in this post https://friendfeed.com/friendf... - jcunwired
Please no. I don't like FaceBook... - Svartling
We need a Friendfeed alternative: http://www.fftogo.com/e... - Marcos Marado from fftogo
Facebook must want real time soc-net search badly... - martin smith
The biggest thing here, at least within the Twitter context, is that this merger will combine 'verified' identity (in terms of Facebook user ID being slightly more 'real' than Twitter) with real time status updates. - Dan Patterson
I'm looking forward to what this brings to Facebook. I have enjoyed both networks but wondered when FriendFeed/Facebook would face-off and/or be absorbed by the other. I think FriendFeed's tech will improve the Facebook experience. - Jacob Sloan
FriendFeed + Twitter = disruptive. FriendFeed + Facebook = one more app for FB . Facebookers dont know the power of FriendFeed. I agree with : "" So FB failed to buy Twitter, - so they buy FF which is just a UI for twitter.. - Nick Halstead "" - Rocky
Most likely scenario is Facebook assimilates the FriendFeed guys, has them work on improving Facebook newsfeed/realtime/status, and lets FriendFeed die a slow unmaintained death. - Richard Akerman
Well, my friends on FB doesn't give a damn about sharing links, news, pics, vids etc. So I'm not sure how I will use FB+FF now. I don't think FriendFeed will exist, just implemented in Facebook. The name FriendFeed will die. And: on FB you don't want the whole world to see everything you're doing, just your friends. And it will stay this way. So the question is: Who will build the new FriendFeed? - Patrik Johansson
Do this mean, by the way, that we (the FriendFeed users) should start to connect with each other on FB? How will they like that? People who get's 2-3 maybe 4000 connections? - Patrik Johansson
Robert, it means all the time you invested building friends lists and updates there will go to Facebook :-) - Loic Le Meur
could someone start to develop a Frienfeed clon , please ? ASAP ! - Rocky
Seems bloody terrible from this users perspective. Good for Friendfeed the company though. - Quasar
Given Facebook's past, this could be really bad. Given FriendFeed's past, this could be really good. No real way to speculate without talking to the FF crew. - xero
+3273 Quasar! (one for each of my Likes, already on a death march) - jcunwired
Robert, do you know if Facebook is going to put on limits here at FF??? Oh crikey... so much for our citizen journalism here.... Admittedly I am bummed. Uber bummed. - Arleen Anderson
EndFeed. - Alex Schleber
your blog is the most important thing you can own on the web. these sites can come and go. it's a great social point but true friends you've made here you talk outside of ff, right? - Terry O'Fee from BuddyFeed
It's a good time to sell to Facebook, cause Google Wave is imminent and is going to destroy all of Facebook, Twitter and FriendFeed. I think FriendFeed employees might even go back to Google eventually as soon as their contracts with Facebook are up. - Charbax
Robert - wow. just wow I am stunned. Sorta sad actually. I love FF innovation and don't want to see that stop !!!!! - Susan Beebe
(RE: Your tweet earlier) When you say the minor league team going to the majors, I don't always feel that this is a positive thing. As in this case, it's like Ferrari being acquired by Ford. I don't think I like this acquisition. - Richard Merritt
the free ride couldn't last forever. I know it sucks that things will change, but they've got a lot more sense than Twitter has about these things.. - Terry O'Fee from BuddyFeed
You must all assimilate to the new FaceFeed - Jonathan.Rivera
From what I'm gathering, this acquisition is more about FB acquiring the talented engineers of FF than it is about the FF software itself. A smart play by FB. Unfortunate for us that value FF. I personally feel that FB is just slowly becoming the new Myspace. Which I don't think I need to explain how lame that is. - Richard Merritt
According to WSJ — FB paid $50 million — a mix of cash and stocks. http://bit.ly/SVTA5 - Richard Merritt
If you ignore all the crappy apps and just comment and post photos, your main feed on Facebook is fundamentally a pretty similar experience to FriendFeed - people post stuff, people comment on it. That is, at-least, the way my network tends to use Facebook. The main difference is that Facebook defaults to being very closed and private while FriendFeed defaults to being very open and... more... - Edward Coffey
edward - pretty much. it's FF for the layman. remember back in the day they used to have forums too? - Terry O'Fee
friendfeed is very cliquey. you have your group of people who usually gather round for conversations. now imagine some of this friendfeed stuff in facebook. done right it will help them a lot. - Terry O'Fee from BuddyFeed
I don't think I am liking this but FB does need to add the "edit" feature like on here. - Marika Dye
FriendFeed is Facebooks Summize. It’s All About Search. http://bit.ly/11ZW6l - paul mooney
Thinking Out Loud: Echo issues during a high profile tech show http://www.talkshoe.com/talksho... - Alex 'BuckyBit' Covic
FF acquisition is expected. But, as a user, I would be bumned, if FF would become a feature of FB. As, I tend to use Twitter as my social network and not FB. - Vasu Srinivasan
It doesn't make much sense talking about 'Facefeed" and 'Friendbook'... Facebook simply bought a cool 12-people company called Friendfeed for its great search technology paying 15M plus some shares, which is really very cheap in this context, given the value of FF's technology (as it is perceived by us). They are also hiring the talented FF team, which makes the deal even more interesting for FB. Probably there are also some deeper hidden motives and implications that I am not able to get. - Liviu Barbat
I would love it if Facebook integrated the FriendFeed features. I would love it if Facebook had FriendFeed's flexibility with Facebook's privacy control. It sucks that the world may lose FriendFeed, but it is great the Facebook will likely get better. - Andrew
Andrew, Facebook will get better - over time. There won't be any Vulcan website meld of FB and FF overnight. - Bill Sodeman
thank god someone understands that, andrew. it's like "i liked this band better before they went to a major label!" ;) - Terry O'Fee
Bill - But we can dream, can't we? :) I mean, what I love about Facebook is that I'm interacting with my friends as my friends, not as usernames and avatars. But I hate their bookmarklet, the weird delays when I post anything, the comment system, and I hate the Photo gallery tech. I love the FriendFeed community, but would love bringing the FriendFeed technology over to Facebook even more. If only Facebook could buy Flickr next... - Andrew
as long as fb start thinking in creative commons terms... one day .. - Terry O'Fee
they are both great services I think will be a good thing - Logan Lindquist
oh NO! I don't spend much time at FB (everybody there's too busy playing stupid games, at least in my little network), and besides it's more private unlike FF. And now they've gone and bought FF? And I just joined! I guess I won't be around here for long, since FF won't... - Dennis Jernberg
I don't like it... - Harry Mahardhika
No mention of Yahoo. Totally irrelevant these days. Sad. - Scott Schnaars
This deal makes sense! Now fb developers do not need to figure out how ff does it because they can just ask! - Garin Kilpatrick
One of my facebook accounts got closed up. Into this account I fed my friendfeed. And into friendfeed I fed for example my socialmedian shares, diggs, stumbles etc. - Wilhelm Bauer
Time for the next generation app. *Taps foot impatiently for Google Wave* - Karen Masullo
I don't think it's about getting Friendfeed it's self; but having the developers and the information about real-time search. - Chris Martin
Mrinal Desai
@robhof and @parismelon say ff acq. was to fight Twitter; @om and @scobleizer say google: 2-2. You?
Couldn't it be both :) - Atul Arora
Thank you - that is where I stand :) - Mrinal Desai
i actually agree that it is kind of both. but i think more immediately it's about twitter, not google. - MG Siegler
also still loving the parismelon references - MG Siegler
yes - you get to Google thru Twitter. - Mrinal Desai

My 15-year-old son Patrick, on why teens don't use Twitter: "They don't see the point."
Most teens just want to talk with their friends, not write to the world, he says. - Robert Scoble
that's it- the understanding of publics. - Kevin Marks
Plus they have video games for entertainment and have lots of time. I don't have time, so Twitter is a form of entertainment that I can get in bite sized chunks. - Robert Scoble
That's it in one sentence: "Most teens just want to talk with their friends, not write to the world, he says" now maybe the world can start spinning again. - Hoop
It's really interesting how I've noticed that most of my peers (20-somethings) are too hooked on Facebook to use Twitter or FriendFeed. Again, they don't see the point; Facebook has built-in Twitter that shares with the people they already know and care about. - Jason Preston
my 13 yr old daughter says the same - Miguel Rodriguez
too easy to get in trouble for what you say - on most networks you have to accept the invite of those who want to connect - not so on twitter - Julie Gallaher
That's the same response I get from nieces and nephews. - Joseph Ferris
Same thing I hear from a ton of people, regardless of age. For most people, they first need a "point" to use it or else they either don't sign up or don't return. - Jeff Peters
Because their parents are there - Bwana ☠
danah talked about how some teens are using private twitter accounts, as Facebook is now too public, as their parents and teachers are there http://bit.ly/Awmw9 Multiple publics http://bit.ly/publics - Kevin Marks
My 14-year-old daughter doesn't want to share her life with the world on Twitter...and I'm good with that! - Kirsti Scott
They care, like us about reputation, but within their 'groups' - not publicly.... - Mrinal Desai
I am here, and I am only thirteen. But I use it to post news, not about my life. - Zachary TG
I'll have to explain it to her in detail before she gets it, prefers Facebook since ALL of her friends are there - Miguel Rodriguez
Kids today don't understand nor care about the social dynamics that they will be involved in. Without a solid background now they can never hope to make truly justified choices later on. It scares me because I have to deal with them directly. - Adam
Good plan, Zachary! - Kirsti Scott
I'm not much older than your son, but I have a twitter. Noticeably many of my friends detest twitter and compare it to facebook status messages, therefore they are unable to understand what makes Twitter great. Facebook has managed to grab the minds of us teenagers. I must admit I am much more inclined to update my facebook statuses as my friends will comment on it. - Rahul Krishnakumar
Adam- Pardon? I do. - Zachary TG
the reason Twitter does well with teens is because they don’t care about networking – the act of creating/extending a network – as much as they do in their existing network itself. http://www.kanjhan.com/2009... - Bhavishya Kanjhan
PARDON ME! DOES ANYBODY HAVE A BRAIN? - Zachary TG
Don't worry Zachary - you don't exist in this thread - Bwana ☠
And why? - Zachary TG
It seems that every ones use of these tools is a bit different. I use twitter/friendfeed to keep in touch with fellow surfers and fellow web developers I know both here and across the world. Twitter/friendfeed have be come my best tools for this. - Luke Kilpatrick
My son, while I type into FriendFeed, is playing Halo. The original one. - Robert Scoble
Yet when I talk about the importance of tying Twitter to gaming, I get ignored - Bwana ☠
Zach - no clue man, you're the exception the point in this thread :) - Bwana ☠
Also teenagers are less likely to stick with Twitter long enough to make it useful to them, Facebook has a sort of instant gratification with adding your friends and commenting them etc. - Chris Lawrence
I am @ricklafave on twitter, but I see the gap being that teens are all about text direct conversations. I see a huge gap in communication between the generations. - Rick LaFave
Thank you for that clarification. - Zachary TG
Bwana- You just got yourself another subscriber. :) - Zachary TG
Hey now, I'm 16 and Twitter totally rules over Facebook for me. Twitter's for discussing news; Facebook's for your personal life. Totally agree w/ Zachary TG - Kirk R. Arner
Success! - Bwana ☠
I'm with Zachary, Adam... that was a bit of a blanket statement. - Bettina Tizzy
Not too big on FriendFeed, though. Not enough people use it yet. - Kirk R. Arner
I got to this through Scoble's Twitter crossposting. - Kirk R. Arner
Bettina Tizzy: Thank you - Zachary TG
Of course there are exceptions, I'm 19 and I'm on Friendfeed and Twitter, but we're talking about the majority of teenagers, Kirk and Zachary. - Chris Lawrence
Have to agree here... my kid (13) and step brother (14) are total facebook kids... they occasionally hop on MySpace as well. Both try to get into Twitter, but really do not see the point. - Darin aka iGoByDoc
Chris Lawrence: I understand. But like 60% of students at my school use Twitter, only around 40% use Facebook. - Zachary TG
By the time today's teens are into things they'll look upon Twitter like we now look at IRC. I'm wondering if I even still have an IRC client on my machine.... - Andrew Leyden
Totally agree, Chris, but more teens are into tech than people think. Not all of us are texting to our friends about useless junk 24/7. - Kirk R. Arner
because it takes too long and is too involved... - Morgan Haley
Adults are very lazy...140 characters is tough to power through, but doable. The only people lazier than adults? Teenagers. Why bother with Twitter when their lives revolve around Facebook and it meets all their needs? - Todd Pringle
That's really cool, I know about three of my friends on Twitter and they never use it haha. And if they do they use it as they would Facebook status. - Chris Lawrence
Even though I text friends, it is just for information, not for useless information. - Zachary TG
Todd Pringle: I am so not lazy. I wouldn't be spelling my words correctly now would I? - Zachary TG
Texting has always been really big in Australia, Zachary. It's a habit that's hard to get out of. - Chris Lawrence
Well yeah, same for me, but we're the exceptions. - Kirk R. Arner
Except for the Australia thing. - Kirk R. Arner
Zach: speaking in generalities of course. Clearly you are an exception. All up on Friendfeed and whatnot. - Todd Pringle
I recently started texting. But it was almost created in Canada. - Zachary TG
I will be happy when everyone has the internet in their pocket and I can just email people instead of spending 25c everytime I want to use 140 characters :( - Chris Lawrence
Todd Pringle: Thank you. I see that people on FriendFeed are different then the casual social networker. We have manners and use large words and sentences. Thank you - Zachary TG
goes back to "announce" vs. "discuss", too. Fb has nice "my friends and family" feel that Twitter and FF don't yet have. - MikeAmundsen
Chris Lawrence- What is the 25c for? - Zachary TG
Depends on geographic area. Here it was the Myspace revolution, then slowly became Facebook. The early adopters of Facebook jumped on the Twitter ship and now the middle stage of Facebook adopters are jumping to Twitter. Does Facebook rule supreme among my group? Yes, with myspace a close second, and twitter slowly catching up. PS, i'm 16. - Sean Quinn
It's 25c per SMS in Australia. - Chris Lawrence
I also don't think most teenagers grasp the difference between Twitter and Facebook. My friends who are content with Facebook don't see any need for Twitter and are actually puzzled by it's intended use. Over and over again I here, "Well Facebook can do that, can't it?" - Angus Burton
OK - Zachary TG
It is only 5c in Canada per text, and unlimited for 5 dollars. - Zachary TG
Yeah phone plans in Australia are really ridiculous. There are hardly any unlimited SMS plans and the ones that are you are usually paying over $80 a month. But I digress! - Chris Lawrence
Wow. - Zachary TG
But our data plans are outrageous. $30 for only 500MB. - Zachary TG
My 16-year-old daughter said the same thing a few months back. But she finally relented and is on Twitter now. A few weeks ago she said "I've never been more informed in my life" since joining. - Patrick Giblin
Seeing the longtail of Twitter takes a somewhat more mature mindset. That's why some mature teens can 'get' Twitter and why some childish adults don't (and content with Facebook). - CannonGod
I think the topic teens liking or not liking twitter topic is entertaining at best. Does anyone have any decent statistics on this? Not to mention the term "teen" is pretty loose 13 and 18 are a world apart. I would think a teen using or not using would be more based on their personal interest. My 20 and 30 year old friends that aren't in the tech industry could care less about it. - Nicholas Fidanza
Admittedly younger generations want to talk with less ppl but more frequently, and adults want to create more connections for friendship or financial gain. Kids don't need to worry about being loved, they have mum & dad at the end of the day :-P Sad single geeks however... - CannonGod
@Angus that was a comment concern among my friends. Where twitter began to rule was among mobile updating. Although teens can use and do use Facebook Mobile, a two-way conversation can work well among a group of friends via Twitter on mobile phones much rather than Facebook status updates/conversations on Facebook, in my experience. - Sean Quinn
I'm 16 and me and my close group of friends use twitter-its possible to have "chat room" like conversations about things (where are we gonna go after school, etc.) if we're all hooked up on it-it works great, but admittedly some kids use twitter more than others (like me) - Oliver Reich
My 15 year old chats on Myspace with her friends. I told here to message one of her regular chat buddies as "You Troll" today and she laughed until she almost peed her pants. :) - Eric Logan
I just see Twitter as Social SMS. Teens like texting, so really it's just an extension of that. I can therefore see it being used more as a tool rather than an actual network per-say. - CannonGod
While it’s possible to make Twitter “private,” the culture of Twitter is all about participation in a large public square. From the digerati seeking widespread attention to the politically minded hoping to appear on CNN, many are leveraging Twitter to be part of a broad dialogue. Teens are much more motivated to talk only with their friends and they learned a harsh lesson with social... more... - Johni Fisher
my oldest is 20 and uses Twitter and friendfeed a lot but he's a techie- my youngest is 17, uses mostly facebook and sms with friends - doesn't grok twitter yet he's very social... - mike "glemak" dunn from iPhone
got kids 24, 22, & 18. 24 is the only Tweeter. all use Fb. none use FF. - MikeAmundsen
There's a great article up on the London Guardian about this - http://www.guardian.co.uk/busines... - Steffan Antonas
The article discusses that Teens like building out profiles, and taking to people they know. Twitter's not really for that - it's used more for information sharing IMO. - Steffan Antonas
It's a crime to suggest that Twitter as a whole is just a single feature of FB and has been that way since the beginning. I never understood when Twittr was demo'd to me how a single feature of a bigger app (in my case, IM status/mood messages) needed to be an app on its own. However, what the early adopter mass wants, the early adopter mass gets (until the mainstream mass shows up and it's zomg culture/class war... I LOVE watching this.) - Eric Rice
Sean: That's a good point. Strangely, using Twitter as a conversation base didn't occur to me. I actually thought more about using a FriendFeed room for that. - Angus Burton
I agree with Patrick and I'm well past my teens! FF adds talking with my friends, so it works. - Rachel Lea Fox
It is simple: kids don't use Twitter because they dont have an iPhone! Most teenagers don't have a decent internet enabled device that allows them to use Twitter nicely. Most parents can't afford (or want) to pay $150+ phone bills for their kids plus buy them an iPhone. I have many young friends and they all love the "Big Brother" spirit of Twitter. I totally dont believe the "I'm a... more... - Arturo Toledo
No dis... I have a 19 y/o daughter...Maybe it because he sees you using it and thinks its an "old people" thing... ? - Ron Thompson
What does he think about FF? - Geoff Schultz
Geoff: same thing, but then he might be biased cause I hang here all day and it's simply not cool to hang out with your parents when you're 15. - Robert Scoble
It's a lot easier to have friends in school. On the outside you have to be a bit more proactive. - Todd Hoff
True enough Robert, Also true Todd. - Geoff Schultz
I only use Twitter to broadcast what I am doing on Posterous, and FriendFeed. - Matt Ruiz
I'm an older (some say very old) user and friends my age don't do Twitter, FB etc. Their opinion: why bother when I have email? Why would I want to share with the Internet at large? The web is full of idiots. - Robert Hafer from iPhone
Geoff: I read FriendFeed I just don't post very much. I enjoy reading Twitter and FF they can cetainly be informative and interesting. None of my friends are on Twitter so I was speaking from my experience with them, not all teens. - Patrick Scoble
Todd: That is also absolutely true with students. - Patrick Scoble
It is true but a lot of adults don't see the point of it either at the moment and I think it'll change.I'm 19 and I think it's more useful than Facebook etc. - Craig Malone
kids dont use words or language, they communicat through hyperlinks & txt. as they get older, they'll appreciate the value of words - echostreamer
Teens spend 6 or 8 hours a day within a few hundred feet of most of the people they know. Why would they need Twitter? - Rob Sterling
the same reason they spend the next 8 hours glued to facebook and the internet instead of going outside to chill with those friends (no offense :) - echostreamer
Yeah, but information on Facebook is shared the same way as in school - it's hierarchical and clique-based. Kids are more like base primates than adults. Twitter is too open, when they want to control the dissemination of information among those people they know in school. - Rob Sterling
There are a lot of 13-15 year-olds on Twitter, just look around :) The best way to find them is to find a celebrity who might garner a teen following ... That said, Twitter is (for now) nowhere near as popular with teens as MySpace and Facebook, for sure. - dcap
Also, most kids can't afford smartphones, and using Twitter exclusively by text message is mostly a one-way affair. It's pretty lame. I bet your 15 y.o. son loves to text and spends hours on Facebook. - Steve Lynch from twhirl
I think teens may be more privacy savvy than the media paints them. They know that a nasty Tweet about a school official can get them expelled; but a private txt is safe. - Robert Hafer
How many teens are marketing gurus and life coaches? Kids aren't selling anything and see no need to sell themselves. THAT'S why they don't care about Twitter. - Kimber Scott
Robert: it is worse than that. One message can get them shunned. - Robert Scoble from iPhone
Just like my older friends, they have no desire to connect with the Twitter-verse at large. But for different reasons. - Robert Hafer
I've been looking for the point for a long time :O) - To me it has become a place where I can "vocalize" things I've always just said to myself before. I just find it funny anyone actually "listens" - Bill Rawlinson
There are many uses of twitter :) - Key KnowHow
I think its good that teens don't like twitter. We can get on here without them! - Su Butcher
As a teenager I didn't see the point of reading a newspaper either, but now I work in one! - | Balu |
I don't have any friends, so I'm forced to write for the world. - Big K
Interns in my office say they know college friends starting to use Twitter. Of course, none of the interns actually do. Twitter seems to be good for celebrities and professional networking. - Hutch Carpenter
What's the big deal ? Most teens don't follow current events like politics or the economy either, it's not what being a kid is about. - Doug Randall in SL
So that means he will like Google Wave? = the next Teen Twitter - Hans Kainz
We can't say that Google Wave is the next Twitter, it's more instant messaging than anything (and I'd say FriendFeed relates more to it than Twitter does). - Hugh Isaacs II
I do deeply hope that Google Wave takes off. I really hate signing into my msn account just to keep in touch with friends who can't get on the GTalk bandwagon or just don't see the point. - Chris Chua
I think if you could start a conversation like this one on twitter just like on ff or fb with commenting tweets or just parsing them when you reply, it would be a lot more interesting - Kaysha
Interesting that the 15 year old kid who got the job at Morgan Stanley did so because his mum knew a chap who she met when dog walking - so not what he knew but who his mum knew, and because of that he had an audience for his opinion. - Simon Rogers
another possibility ADD - polou/indigo_bow
Wrote a post about this a long time ago. Interaction will scale down as the possibilities to interact scale up. The next gen doesn't care about talking to the whole world. There is little value in it - Alexander van Elsas from iPhone
Just blogged on this subject. I don't believe this is a generational issue. It's about privacy and signal:noise ratio. When those degrade, communities migrate to new social networking services, regardless of group members' average age. http://lehawes.wordpress.com/2009... - Larry Hawes

My rules for using FriendFeed's new feature of turning off comments:
1. If the mob is going against Mike Arrington, my comments will remain open. (Here's the details behind the new features: http://friendfeed.com/bret... ). - Robert Scoble
2. If the mob is going against me, my comments will close. - Robert Scoble
Good to know! :) - Jigar Mehta

I'm just kidding, of course. - Robert Scoble
Personally I will not participate in threads where comments are turned off :-) - Todd Hoff
Let's test this! Mike Arrington is pretty bad! - Bryce Montgomery

Bryce: more than four people have to agree with you to be considered a mob. - Robert Scoble
They're getting their torches and pitchforks. Give it time. - Bryce Montgomery
@Bryce - mike arrington is really cool - almost god like. Really. - Dan Morrill AKA Techwag
i love the comment feature. but the question is, isn't this just like wave? - Daniel Lizio-Katzen
I honestly have no opinion on Arrington - Bryce Montgomery
Daniel: except we can use it today. - Robert Scoble
@Scoble - I am shocked you would say this, hopefully you are kidding. - Dave Hodson
Guys, pls don't start the "Friendfeed mob" meme again ... boring - Dave Hodson
oh yeah, and it's ≠ to google - Daniel Lizio-Katzen
Dave: of course I am kidding. And, if I'm not, all I will be doing is encouraging the mob to head over to your comments. - Robert Scoble
Because I can't turn off your comments. - Robert Scoble
Scoble is armed with comments and he's not afraid to use them - Keith Barrett from Android
Haha! I was expecting a deep philosophical rule system for this. - Adam Jackson
@Adam me too.... where's my top 10 list. - Bill Grant
I've been spending too much time online when things like this make me laugh aloud at my screen. At least no one's here to witness it. - Enrique Gutierrez
I am hoping everything will go on just as before. No comment closings - Mark
Bill: the only time I'd turn off comments is if spammers started to figure out how to take over here. - Robert Scoble
Do the comments need to be pithy to qualify as "mobby"? - Chris Sparno
What if the mob starts cursing his holiness the Pope, or music icon Billy Idol? Will you close them then? - Mitch
Fuck the Pope. Better add blasphemy to that list - Mark
Why would someone spam friendfeed comments? What would be the point there is no one here right? (yep, spammers no one here at all move along and go to your mass email client) - Luke Kilpatrick
Billy Idol, now that's just unfair. Where is my torch fuel. - Chris Sparno
Where do you find the people you blocked? - Myrna
Myrna: I don't know of a place you can see that. - Robert Scoble
I LOL'd - Bwana ☠
Doesn't turning comments off in FriendFeed make it Twitter? - Tony from fftogo
So can you make a test post Robert to test the new feature with us - Mark
Mark: Louis Gray already did that. - Robert Scoble
Crap, i unfollowed him, he always posts pics of his kids. people ask me why im looking at pictures of babies. - Mark
Was wondering, if ppl have been commenting and then you choose to disable does it hide/delete current/previous comments, or does it simply lock the thread? - CannonGod
CannonGod - Example here http://friendfeed.com/louisgr... - Bwana ☠
CannonGod: it just locks the thread. Want me to lock this one to demonstrate? - Robert Scoble
Please lock. (curious) - Jay Cuthrell
Lock! - Mark
can u unlock? - Marco
Jay: I locked this thread for 10 seconds then reenabled them. - Robert Scoble
Lock or it didn't happen!!!! - Mark
A lock mob is forming ;-) - Jay Cuthrell
...once you lock, that is. - Marco
Nicely done. I want to automatically lock threads after 30 days as a defense against spam. - Robert Scoble
Thanks Robert --- I was wondering if the delay was via lock or lull - Jay Cuthrell
Geeezzzzz... talk about circling the drain. - Brian Roy
what do you mean Brian? - Mark
Robert, you can always order the Angry Mob play set here if you need it... http://bit.ly/JiJfP - Chris Sparno
I'm just amazed at how year(s) old features in other mediums are being pulled into places like FF. (i.e. LiveJournal screening, IP address capture, etc...) - Jay Cuthrell
Mark, that's a very funny reason to unfollow. :) - Louis Gray
Is a comment box placed in the middle of the comment stream an indication of a lock taking place or is my UI being dumb? - Jay Cuthrell
It's a cultural thing Louis. In Britain we have a real shortage of male teachers. There seems to be a fear that men working with children MUST be paedophiles. Why would a man work with kids etc? A single 25 year old male looking at pictures of a strangers babies is just slightly uncomfortable here for some reason - Mark
Robert sucks! BOOOOOOOOOOOOO! ;) - Jorge Escobar
Pitch Fork! Pitch Fork! Pitch Fork! - Jorge Escobar
Jorge: you must be more original than that to get a mob going. - Robert Scoble
Robert, what if you want to unblock someone you've blocked? There must be a place..anyone know? - Myrna
True Robert - Jorge Escobar
Myrna: yes, you have to go back to their original account to unblock them. One secret little tip: if you log out everyone you blocked is now unblocked, so you can search for them. - Robert Scoble
I can't believe Robert said anyone who likes Leo Laporte must be a big sissy girly who knows nothing about tech - Mark
Is Friendfeed a touch laggy tonight for anyone? - Mark
So is Mike getting this back? http://friendfeed.com/techcru... - Jorge Escobar
Robert, LOL, not sure of their name..I'm going to persevere. I think I saw it somewhere here. - Myrna
Scoble/Bwana - Thanks for the examples guys. I'm just waiting for threaded conversations for things to be perfect :) - also, setting a timed auto-lock of threads = not a terribly bad idea. - CannonGod

I say, "Fork 'em! Fork 'em all!" -- who's with me! - Jorge Escobar
lol Jorge Escobar - Kim Landwehr
Fork this! - Rick Cogley
