Yes. The people are like, "I signed the papers, let's go celebrate". There's always a sort of desperation to it, so it just makes me sad. I can see having a few close friends over for support, but treating it like a bachelor(ette) party strikes me odd.

If you're close enough to ground zero, it should be pretty quick and painless. But if you don't get instantly vaporized by the explosion, you get to die from burns, the brute force of the shock wave (which, if you're lucky, will snap your neck or cause you to impact against something solid), or radiation poisoning, which has got to be one of the slowest, most excruciating ways to die.

"Currently showing at Rome’s Galleria Borghese is an exhibition of paintings by Italian master Caravaggio and the 20th century Irish painter, Francis Bacon. A tiling collection, The Madresse chaharbagh, or royal school, also named after the king's mother; is one of the last, but otherwise most beautiful works of Safavid period architecture. Photos by Mehrdad Tadjdini

It was built at the time of Shah Sultan Hussain, the last of the safavid kings. The building also displays the art of tile work at its best. It is an example of late Safavid period tile work. On the eastern wing of the school was the king's mother caravansary, a place for travellers to rest.

Perfect pictures. Good explanations. It's worth mentioning , according to the original documents left of the commision project of the mosque, that a great doorway to the mosque, cost almost the same amount of money that the whole construction of the mosque did. Unbelievable, isn't it? Do you happen to have any photos of the "doorway" by chance? Far as I remeber , 10 different handicraft...

Remember, the craftmanship of the doorway cost the mother of the King almost the same money spent on the construction of the whole building of the mosque!!! Now you can realize the importance of the handcrafted doorway! which is nowadays well encased in glass for protection.

When we watch Planet Earth, I'm always amazed at the sheer numbers of herds. I like to think of herds as >1000 (is that less than?), but we saw one doc that showed something like 25K gazelles. Amazing. Or the one with the gigantic flock of birds. WOW.

Planet Earth is an amazing documentary. I guess Nature's Great Events are on their way to the US soon too. That's another great natural history doc from the BBC.

Yes, I've seen NGE, but seriously PE is infinitely better, visually speaking. The only thing that bugs me about PE is the constant, "Thanks to our brand-new, super-expensive technology we were able to be the first to capture this fish swimming." or whatever. Enough with the dick-stroking just give me facts.

Yeah but there isn't much of that to be fair and is completely overshadowed by the quality of the images and documentary. Both NGE and PE are excellent. We get so much of that from the BBC, it's great.

You don't think it's a lot? The other night we watched the PE marathon on Discovery. In each hour show, Weaver must have mentioned it 3 - 4 times. That's a lot to me. :) I can't wait to get both series in a boxset, but we agreed that we'll wait until we get a better TV.

Steve, I just realized that the Planet Earth marathon I was watching was narrated by Sigourney Weaver, whereas the old ones were narrated by David Attenborough. Maybe these are the new ones, which explains why I was confused over some of the topics thinking, "Gosh I don't remember that one."
