She's a liberal appeals judge and the Supreme Court is very conservative, so it's not surprising that the Supreme Court would overturn or modify the majority of her decisions that they reviewed. So that doesn't say much about the quality of her judging. Of course, she also wrote hundreds of opinions that the Supremes didn't bother reviewing.

It's actually 60% not 80% and, had you actually done one iota of research you would have found that her overturn rate is actually BELOW the overturn average of cases brought before the SC since that court typically overturns 75% of cases brought before it. A more accurate reading would be to look at her overturn rate based on ALL her cases not JUST the five that made it all the way to...

Actually I should not have used the "you" pronoun here as I didn't intend this to be a judgment of the OP rather of the folks making this lame argument. My apologies.

I shared an article related to this awhile ago. Turns out that the majority of car dealers are Republican supporters. Therefore it only seems like they're being singled out. - http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/archive...

Thouroughly debunked by the fine folks over at fivethirtyeight.com. Short answer, in 2008 auto dealers gave 1.221 MILLION in contributions to Republicans and only 161 THOUSAND to Dems. Of course the dealers closed are going to be mainly Republican donors with numbers like that. No story here, just the right wing noise machine doing what they do best... blathering without looking at actual facts.

"In the great pie vs. cake debate, I'm firmly on the cake side. There's no pie in this world that tastes better than a good chocolate cake. And unless you're weird like my father, you don't celebrate your special day with birthday pie. I've had a cake on my birthday every year for as long as I can remember. Until this year. This year my wife made me a birthday trifle. What I love about the trifle is that it's like a cake, but without all the rules. You just layer in whatever you like, scoop it out, and eat it out of a bowl. You could put in cake whole or broken up. Is the cake too dry? Who cares! The other stuff will moisten it up. You don't have to even have to worry about structural integrity. Your cake could topple or fall apart when you cut it, but as long as your trifle bowl holds everything, you're in super-sweet heaven. This particular trifle didn't even contain cake. It had layers of Oreos, brownies, chocolate pudding, banana pudding, and Cool Whip. And therein lies the beauty of the trifle--no recipe required. You only need an ingredient list."

The biggest scam the American auto companies ever perpetrated on the car buying public is the fallacy that SUVs and trucks are safer. What's worse is that so many Americans bought it!
Like Alex said, bigger is not necessarily safer, even in a collision, even for those on the inside.
- ɯɥøq sɐɯoɥʇ
@mrsth Please. The argument that more people died because they drove smaller cars is laughable. They died precisely because there are so many damned SUVs on the road. Rephrasing article intro statement, who needs brains if you're driving the biggest car around?
- andrei_c
I think there is a relation to the size of the car and the self-esteem of the person owning it. People who drive big cars generally are in need to compensate their low self esteem.. that's my opinion
- Jaap Willem
I like it because I'm higher off the ground - not that that's safer, probably isn't, but it lets me see better. Also, easier to get in and out of than tiny cars down on the ground.

If you really want up boost your survival odds, don't drive a vehicle (including bicycles) on any road whatsoever. Should add pony rides to that too, King Louis IV died falling of his horse back in 954.

President Barack Obama has tapped federal appeals judge Sonia Sotomayor for the Supreme Court, making her the first Hispanic in history picked to wear the robes of a justice. Here are 10 things about her that you should know:

"Sonia Sotomayor, who would be the Supreme Court’s first Hispanic justice, brings to the confirmation experience the kind of rich personal story that has always been deeply gratifying to Americans, the journey from humble beginnings to a respected position of great influence."

Is it just me, or is that the most chaotic option they could have chosen? So, in California, there are exactly X (whatever it is) same-sex marriages that are legal because they happened during a weird in-between time. I'm very curious to read what the basis of their decision(s) is(are).
