I don't like the fake following feature either. I am on FriendFeed to follow what other people have to share; what it's really appreciated here in Italy is the chance of seeing even friends of friends' feeds. That's absolutely great. One gets to know new users, new ideas, new point of views and definitely you never know where something interesting can come from. It's all about serendipity. The background noise can be easily reduced with the hide command, that works just fine. - Niki Costantini
