Not-so-fun fact: only 91 out of 1200 notebooks in stock around Sweden feature matte displays. Most of them are probably EOL. WTF happened?

Don't agree about Ruby being so diff. from JS: OO, closures, dynamic typing- heck Java is more diff. and Google managed to do it

But I think the awesomeness of code like <script type="text/ruby">5.times { puts "oh hai" }</script> speaks for itself

I never said HotRuby was the new hotness (it's really dead :P), just that its intention was right.

But going through YARV is a bit clunky, I'll give you that (esp. since it's dead). A direct solution using e.g. ParseTree = nicer!

No it wouldn't. HotRuby JIT compiles YARV bytecode into ECMAScript which runs in-browser. Cooler than precompilation from YAPL imo

I'm not. I dislike a lot of the Java space, but it's like comparing meerkats and elephants. It's pretty obvious who's the elephant

Also, in a world where Java syntax is nice, GWT features a Java to JavaScript compiler. How I've longed to do web UIs Swing-style.

Think of the craziness that would ensue. Client-side Rails anyone?

YAPL :) Why note use an existing language, e.g. Ruby? HotRuby ran a subset of YARV bytecode in ECMAScript (

There. Refactored my blog template, added bits and pieces here and there. Now it's as XHTML 1.0 Strict compliant as possible ATM :)
