Re: Rollover Accident Causes Power Outages In West Topeka - http://www.wibw.com/home...
"Westar should send that woman a very nice gift basket and bouquet. Their first response took much longer than their reported ETA, and the additional help they needed was not there until much later. She was in that truck much longer than 40 minutes as stated. The fire department was there before 6:30 and Westar didn't get the power off for more than an hour before they could even begin extrication. By the sounds of the radio calls, the fire department was getting pretty hacked and had to remind Westar there was a patient waiting for them. It was a frightening reflection on Westar's preparedness." - Mark Aaron Murnahan

Re: The Bitch Slap: About Your J-O-B - http://redheadwriting.com/the-bit...
"I have owned companies since I was in high school. I left school to focus on my company. I worked very hard and it became a huge hit. I took a company from the floor to a fifty million dollar company, and rode it back down to the floor after somebody broke the economy and suppliers went wonky. I looked for a job. I looked very hard, in fact Everybody said I am "overqualified". So, I became "unemployable" because every asshat CEO figured I would leave because they couldn't replace my seven digit salary. I was sad, because I was not out for salary at all. I wanted a company to fall in love with. It took longer than it should have, but I realized I already owned the company that would replace my full-time efforts. I already owned a bakery. So, I opened a new store and now I work for a fraction of the salary I had, or the salary I could have ... but I love it more than any job I ever had (and race car driver is on my résume). Love should always trump money. I've had money ... lots of it..." - Mark Aaron Murnahan

"I am a joke? No, I am an intelligent man who entertains intelligent conversation, but not emotionally charged drivel intended to be insulting. I suppose I am glad to entertain, but you lost my attention right there. I am highly experienced in all areas of which I wrote. None of it was a joke." - Mark Aaron Murnahan

Re: Early Morning Motorcycle Crash Critically Injures One - http://www.wibw.com/home...
"As provided in response to a comment about this article on Facebook, I want to share a thought as follows: Regarding helmets, the incidence of head injuries is higher without a helmet, but the incidence of neck injuries and permanent paralysis is far higher with a helmet. I mention this because it is truly absurd to blame an accident on a helmet, or to imagine a person living or dying with or without a helmet. The state of Kansas and many other states do not require a helmet as based on multiple factors. Helmets result in more neck injuries (both fatal and non-fatal) than not wearing a helmet. They also prove to result in more accidents. Having any position on wearing a helmet or not wearing a helmet in the instance of death or injury is entirely absurd to speculate on, which is why states have ruled for the favor of cyclist choice. Be sure to note that is not the case with seat belts. That is because the variables are fully known variables. If the variables were so concrete with..." - Mark Aaron Murnahan

Re: Early Morning Motorcycle Crash Critically Injures One - http://www.wibw.com/home...
"I feel for those families involved. As a motorcyclist of more than 25 years and an automobile driver of nearly the same, I regret the frequent disparity between the two. Circumstances unknown and aside, I only imagine the challenges of reconciling the pain. I only once had an accident with my wife holding onto me and I feel very fortunate we each are here today. I truly feel for the man who lost his wife and the many others involved. Whether negligence or otherwise, the people this touches will take a lot of caring to heal." - Mark Aaron Murnahan

Re: Fire Drills: Social Business Crises Simulation - http://www.web-strategist.com/blog...
"I would submit that one of the most disastrous outcomes for many companies is when they exercise blatant hypocrisy. I will offer an example of such: As I said just hours ago on Twitter and Facebook, "It is my experience that the most offensive social media action is to ignore direct communications while touting the value of engagement." Yet, I witness this each and every day, and I always find it interesting how few have a good plan to recover from this very real perception of hypocrisy and passive aggression." - Mark Aaron Murnahan

"The code here is not to be inserted in a page, but rather into a separate ".htaccess" file. Incidentally, it is also not used by Windows servers. A Windows server hosted by Network Solutions has got to be about the worst possible solution in my professional opinion. In any case, there is a completely different means for handling this on Windows. Since it is on a managed system where you will have limited access, it would likely be best to contact Network Solutions to address the issue." - Mark Aaron Murnahan

"I cannot apply it well, because it is highly unlikely that I will find myself with a company like that. A company that is broken in such a way that they refuse good advice and good business practices - even if the math adds up. Companies like that would not recognize the value in a guy like me, anyway. They would take one look at what I've said at http://murnahan.com and exclude me based on ignorance and fear. That's my guess. what do you think?" - Mark Aaron Murnahan
