"It would be interesting to have an officer sit at my shop on Wanamaker and watch the dozens of cars with texting drivers. I see dozens every day. It's especially easy to see it before dawn as the glowing cars drive to work." - Mark Aaron Murnahan

Re: Motorcyclist Killed In Wreck On Gage Blvd. - http://www.wibw.com/home...
"When the Kansas Legislature researched it while considering the law, they found that it was a bad mandate and should not pass. There are far more broken necks with a helmet, and more skull fractures without them. It is a toss up. I have been riding 30 years, and I have had two significant motorcycles accidents. Neither involved my head. On the other hand, I once had a head injury in a car. As a race driver, I do wear a helmet in a car, but never on a motorcycle." - Mark Aaron Murnahan

"Perhaps it is not quite as hard to get ebola as they have told us. I keep hearing that it is not easy to transmit ebola, but it seems the people in full body suits who tend to try and avoid deadly diseases are having an easy time getting it." - Mark Aaron Murnahan

"Speaking as neither a bigot nor Christian, but rather a concerned USA citizen thinking of isolation of a deadly outbreak with potential of becoming pandemic. To call anything I've said "bigoted" seems quite bigoted on your part." - Mark Aaron Murnahan

Re: New Walmart Supercenter Opens On East Side Of Topeka - http://www.wibw.com/home...
"OK, then, Rob, is it really getting more for your money when it causes more jobs to be terminated than it brings? Does it get you more for less when more than a billion and a half tax dollars are spent to provide services to Walmart employees because Walmart suggested thy go on welfare rather than paying them a living wage? Does it make any sense to you that Walmart should see a hundred billion in profit while using a billion and a half in welfare just to pay people less and profit more while all the while creating a net loss in employment and thereby raising your cost of living - a true felt cost to you that you just can't put your finger on while you're standing at the register with your cheap underpants?" - Mark Aaron Murnahan

"I have never considered the possibility that people who do not shop at Walmart are special. Hey thanks. that's nice of you. I always just considered it a qualitative choice and an expression of good will toward my local economy, but you're right ... maybe it is special to do my tiny part to uplift y community. ;-)" - Mark Aaron Murnahan

Re: Building Owner Shoots Intruder In Morning Break-In - http://www.wibw.com/home...
"There is a huge difference between defending ones property and being a vigilante (defined as a member of a self-appointed group of citizens who undertake law enforcement in their community without legal authority, typically because the legal agencies are thought to be inadequate.) The law on shooting somebody is a lot different in a vacant building than in ones home. His history also emphasizes a need for law enforcement to look really closely at whether his two shootings this year are each justifiable. I go nowhere without guns, and I believe in defending myself and others - and even property to a much lesser degree, but within legal methods and means. In Lindemuth's case, it appears these methods and means should be tested." - Mark Aaron Murnahan

"The part you missed in law school is this, @Iwunder , and this applies to 21-5225. Use of force in defense of property other than a dwelling. "Only such use of force as a reasonable person would deem necessary to prevent or terminate the interference may intentionally be used." Here is more of that statute: 21-5225. Use of force in defense of property other than a dwelling. [Amends K.S.A. 2010 Supp. 21-3213] A person who is lawfully in possession of property other than a dwelling, place of work or occupied vehicle is justified in the use of force against another for the purpose of preventing or terminating an unlawful interference with such property. Only such use of force as a reasonable person would deem necessary to prevent or terminate the interference may intentionally be used." - Mark Aaron Murnahan

Re: Building Owner Shoots Intruder In Morning Break-In - http://www.wibw.com/home...
"I am a strong 2nd Amendment supporter and I am surely willing to fire upon a person if I am in danger. The law, however, does not provide for use of force beyond what a reasonable person believes is needed. People-hunting is not a provision given under the law." - Mark Aaron Murnahan

"Does anybody else think it is far too strange that Kent Lindemuth has been at one of his buildings overnight and shot people breaking in - within just a few months? It seems to me that he may be getting too much joy in shooting people. The statute is pretty clear on how force may be used, and I am curious to know if it has met the burden of law." - Mark Aaron Murnahan

"How then, in your mathematical genius, would it make sense that an employee gets a bump in pay when the business is in trouble or fails? You must be one of those who thinks all that money the government pays out comes from thin air, too. No, that is not how it works ... money has to come from somewhere. It is generally considered wise that the person risking all the liabilities of business ownership gets a share at least as high as their line cook. Ha!" - Mark Aaron Murnahan
