per their myspace blog: "Hey there! Hope all's well with you in the great swirl of holiday happenings. We're thrilled to say that our new video for "Submarine Symphonika" is here!! It was a real labor of love for the amazing Josh Forbes, who tirelessly directed it (much of the shooting happened in the wee hours of the morning) and who put together an awesomely talented crew of set builders and artists to make a magical little world filled with singing Russian Dolls, twinkling stars, a child dinosaur orchestra and more come to life. We happily present to you this document of our visit to that beautiful imaginary world with a song about possibility and hope for love. May your holiday stars shine bright this year. With love, The Subs"

"For those folks who didn't think Paste was totally daft for naming She & Him's Volume One the best album of 2008, we've got good news for you: Volume Two is on the way. (For those of you who still consider us spineless drivel-mongers for the same, well, carry on with your Monday.)The new album was recorded in Portland and Los Angeles over the past year-and-a-half, and will feature all-new original material penned by actress/chanteuse Zooey Deschanel and produced by M. Ward. "I think that the dark shades that were on the last record are maybe a little bit darker on the new record, and the brighter shades on the last record are a little bit brighter on the new record," Ward tells Paste. "I think that people are going to hear more contrasts, which is always something that I shoot for in the studio.""

"Volume One was essentially recorded in a vacuum free of outside pressure and expectations, an atmosphere that the duo tried to recreate for Volume Two. "I think we approached the second record organically, the same as we did for the first record," Deschanel tells Paste. "But the songs are different so the record is different. We had a bit more time and resources so we were able to work...

"At the Rose Bowl in October, the Black Eyed Peas got a chance to see the world from U2's vantage point. As it turns out, the pop group enjoyed the view. Today the Peas will announce a massive 100-city world tour that will kick off Feb. 4 in Atlanta and reach Los Angeles in late March. Inspired partly by U2, the group will greet its fans with a splashy show featuring elaborate lighting, stage effects, numerous wardrobe changes and a newfound interest in spectacle."

it took about one minute before i was captured by this group!- they've no doubt been around for a while but this is the first time i've heard of them - thanx for the introduction phil!

Thanks Sally. I love the sound but unfortunately Tarja the vocalist was removed (you can read all about it on Wikipedia) shortly after this concert. They did another one later but now she is doing her own thing and sounds great but style is different. Nightwish has new female vocalist but she doesn't have the range or power of Tarja. Rose knows more about them than I do as she has been a fan much longer. On another note - the world sure owes a lot to Les Paul! :-)

i'm "musical instrument challenged" but i think you're saying that it's a les paul guitar that's being played?
- sally stokhamer
hehe no, just that Les invented the electric guitar so the whole world owes him big time. RIP Les.
- Phil Harrison
hehe means you're laughing? i'm laughing too!! (was it mary ford who sang "the world is waiting for the sunshine"?
- sally stokhamer
Laughing at myself for being too "stream of consciousness" in the first place. :-) Man that goes so far back for me (Les Paul and Mary Ford) I don't remember what she sang and at that time I didn't even know that Les invented the electric guitar.
