does everything last for just one small moment?

There's a lot of "facebook" talk on the web. I don't get it. I avoid facebook precisely because it's so personal. I see the faces of and watch the networking of old friends and it's painful for all the unfulfilled promise. At this point I prefer to "rely on the kindness of strangers". I realize this is possibly a fatal flaw.
- Charlie Barone
the old "friends" i see on facebook seem to wear a mask unlike yours who are more honest - one relative from my past asked to email rather than facebook saying she'd rather remove the mask that hides what she doesn't want everyone else to see - we're emailing -
- sally stokhamer
when will you post "fatal flaw" or was i just dreaming about something you once wrote?
- sally stokhamer
Very relaxing "happy" sound. Wish I could learn to fingerpick like Charlie.
- joe cromwell
you say "you wish it were that way again?" - what happened to the guy who wanted change? but i DO know what you mean - we want the simple back but we'd have to accept everything that went with it -

Traditional songs are like comfort food; good for the soul.

Traditional songs take you back to the past, something you should like, John!

In the future all songs will sound like the past.

The music not yet written is in the soul of the people.

Children like a simple tune, something they can sing. In the future, as adults, they will more often only listen.

The folk movement of the 60's seemed like a simpler, home spun, less commercial slant on music. But in the end it was all driven by the Almighty Dollar. Dylan seems to have been right up there duking it out with the rest of them.

and the irony of woodstock was that it was dependent on capitalistic technology -

I like this but most times old stuff is stupid

Bitter End (NYC) ROCKED tonight! Songwriter circle was excellent (8:15?-10:00 pm) - Amanda Kaletsky, Joe Taylor, Bradd Marguis, Jennifer Greer, Will Gallison, and Nick Howard each did 3 songs. They all had good voices & nice songs. Bradd Marguis is a male singer who had a kick-butt voice.
If you have not done so already, Google Roland Phantom XR and you will get a list of tutorials on how to use it. ( I did so just to learn what you were referring to.)

If only those manuals were written in English! I mean they appear to be in English, but it's all Greek to me! But thanks for the effort!

Taylor Marie Ware is an American singer and yodeler from Franklin, Tennessee, a suburb of Nashville. Before Ware knew how to yodel, she performed at a county fair at age four. Her talent was singing and playing a violin. When she was six she decided to sing to seniors, so she started an Adopt-a-Grandparent program.
- Mitchell Tsai
In 2003, Ware won $10,000 in the Yahoo! Yodel Challenge. She was later featured in a Yahoo commercial. She also participated in a challenge to beat a Guinness world record.
- Mitchell Tsai
Ware performed on the Grand Ole Opry with Riders in the Sky when she was nine years old. At age eleven, she competed on NBC's America's Got Talent and was selected by the viewers on July 13, 2006 to advance to the final competition (which aired on August 16, 2006). She was one of the top five finalists but she lost to 11-year old Bianca Ryan and Irish step-dancers/fiddlers, Celtic Spring. The million-dollar prize was later awarded to Ryan.

"Some quick facts, Smith was a high school teacher before becoming a musician full-time. He generates buzz by making himself available to fans after concerts, getting in that face-time and building connections. He and his manager Martin Winsch built their strategy, in part, by studying "The Future of Music: Manifesto for the Digital Music Revolution," and concentrated on building a following in the South--namely college campuses in Smith's home state of Georgia. (You can catch one AASU co-ed's restrained gushing over Smith in this interview on YouTube.)"

Making oneself available to fans after concerts is, of course, not a new thing. I was very impressed when I attended a concert in the early 1980s and the artist stayed afterwards to sign autographs for everyone who wanted them. The artist? Slim Whitman.

Wow, John, love the Slim. This caught my eye for the "Future of Music Coalition" mention
