Checking out and going offline. Hopefully I'll be landing at YUL in 24 hrs.
Spending a relaxing evening but sleep is still elusive after 29 hrs. Might as eell hold off for another 8 to get closer to EST.
IIS seminar went well even with crappy 800x600 projector. Bailing out on diner to catch some ZZZs before brutal 03:10 return flight time.
Whereby IIS stands for Indian Institute of Science. On absolutely zero sleep, this is bound to get interesting.
Traffic in Bangalore was surprising less crazy this morning. Finishing up with the @StrandLife team and then giving a seminar at the IIS.
I thought I had this jetlag thing licked...obviously not. I have to be up in 2 hrs and haven't slept yet. Stupid afternoon naps!
On the other hand, many Indians impressed the hell out of me. Impeccably polite, smartly-dressed and really really bright.
Now watching a documentary on Indian workers that were scammed into working in Dubai and are now stuck there in semi-slavery.
Plus going anywhere is extremely exhausting b/c of noise, filth, pollution, traffic & crappy sidewalks. Limits spontaneous excursions.
Room Service FTW!
If I return I'll have to bring my wife. She's more social and can keep solicitors busy while I concentrate on taking pictures.
Biggest disappointment to date was my inability to settle into a photography "zone". I'm too conspicuous here and was constantly solicited.
@nadia007 J'etais etudiant gradue a Quebec. Mon cousin, maintenant journaliste a La Presse, suivait un cours a La Polytechnique ce soir la.
@seanbonner Try not to pass out in the security line.
Tried one of those 3 wheelers for fun and within 10 secs the driver was already trying to scam me. "The stores there don't open 'tlll 1:30"
"I know a better place". Rolled my eyes and got off w/o a word. Ended up walking to Commercial Street where many silken items were acquired.
Realizing that a smaller, less noticeable, camera would be really useful right now. Something for the Christmas list.
Gotta watch your step on those sidewalks. There are some mighty deep holes. Also need iPod to ignore pesky cab drivers.
First time since my departure that I manage to sleep more than 7 hrs straight and woke up rested. Celebrating by going to the gym bf brekky.
@tara It is supposedly a good place but I have been able to keep sickness at bay with a strict adherence to breads and cooked dishes.
Heading out to Shiro, a Japanese fusion restaurant in UB City that houses a 3 stories tall Buddha. Not brave enough for sushi though.
Dear brain, who told you that it was acceptable to sleep all afternoon? This will only lead to more insomnia tonight.
I wonder if it's my pale skin or my expensive camera that makes me such a beggar magnet. Should start stuffing one pocket with 10 Ru notes.
I have yet to taste an Indian dish that measures up to what I can get from Pushap or Kwality back home.
I knew that India can be an intense experience but...dude!!! This excursion was fun but also a huge assault on my senses.
Going temple hopping. Will try not to make a complete ass of myself.
Couldn't sleep anymore so I spent the end of the night planning which temples and palaces I want to visit today.
@LenferinkA Really hot out here...at least it was. Now its dark and the mosquitoes are as big as dogs.
@tara I am SO doing that on my next visit. Didn't bring my jungle hiking gear + appropriate shots & malaria pills.
@vanou Do you have suggestions for what to see and do in this place? Decided to bail on Mysore, didn't want to spend 6 hrs in a car.
