When I was a kid I got an "insiders" tour of NASA, so lucky but I only remember a couple of things.

I'll be sad when the Shuttle flies its final mission. Watching these guys repair stuff in orbit serves to remind me once in a while that mankind can still do amazing feats of engineering and we're not all couch potatoes. My son will be ~5-6 when the final mission happens, I'm hoping I can attend the launch with him as I think it will leave an unforgettable impression. We once landed on the moon, and flew people into space, maybe we'll continue to do so through China and India, who knows.

Of course, others object to the expense and favor spending money on nothing but robot missions. I'm all for robots too, but nothing captures the imagination more than building vehicles that can fly actual people there.

i had this happen once. i about had a heart attack. (that is, i went to check a (fairly complicated) CSS layout in IE and it looked exactly the same.)

According to the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA), over 600 million visitors pass through the gates of over 1,300 zoological parks, reserves and aquariums worldwide every year. Springtime brings many new animals to these parks as well, as newborns. Collected here are some photographs from zoos and aquariums around the world from the past couple of months. Don't forget that 2009 has been designated as the "year of the gorilla" by the United Nations. (37 photos total)

amen, 2.5 hours is too long unless you need it. i love American Psycho for it's brevity (as well as some of the most hilarious scenes ever, that helps too).

right. i don't want to imply that no movies can work at 2.5hrs in length. but, you really gotta earn the audience's time and attention because there's a long history of movies that did a lot with 1.5hrs. if the longer movie doesn't do more, then it's a failure to craft the story or edit its content well.
