I did my parents house last month - there were nice tall plants growing in them. On the plus side it acted as a great composter and I put the soil in their garden which led to nice flowers now. :)

I need to do mine, but apparently as I get older and my hip gets iffier, my balance is becoming less reliable. Didn't have the need to get up on a ladder during the six years I was renting. At our house in the Twin Cities the gutters were nearly 30 feet off the ground. I wasn't exactly thrilled to be up there, but got used to it after a little while. Now 12 feet seems like a risk. How quickly things change!

We didn't replace the gutters after getting a new roof and, surprise, we started getting water in the basement. Who knew?! Actually it makes sense when you think about it, but I didn't (think about it, that is.)

Odd fact, this photo shows off our new concrete siding (it will outlive me), a new 30 year roof, and ancient gutters. no rain in the basement. it is dry.
