It's the fun time of year in my town where I get to browse through all public employee salaries and wonder why the hell the assistant city attorney makes $4k more per year than the city attorney. I mean, other than the fact that he's male and she's female.

In Iowa City? That's not what I see at all in those listings.

Nah, look. We got City Attny Eleanor making $79K. And yes, Asst. Eric makes $83K while Asst. Sara makes $76K. But Asst. Susan makes $88K while First Asst. Sarah-With-An-H makes $105K. I don't see anything that can be easily deduced from those numbers.

Well, the "good" thing is that the facts in the aggregate support your righteous outrage. You just chose a complicated example.

I could also be irked by the fact that Iowa City librarians make way more than we lowly Coralville librarians, but that would be just pure envy, not righteous outrage, and that's way less fun.
