Data sharing link roundup - Mr. Gunn
Problem is that 90% of being able to continue to advance science is funding. Most people hand on to their data because there's that chance they missed something and don't want to lose the credit for their hard work. Cool post though - Brian Krueger - LabSpaces
Quote from the article: As Cambridge economist Rufus Pollock says : “The best thing to do with your data will be thought of by someone else.” (Voices from the future of science: Rufus Pollock of the Open Knowledge Foundation)" - Mr. Gunn
Brian I agree that funding is a problem, (did you see this PLoS paper http://ff.im/881E9). As far as not wanting to lose credit, we need something more full and complex than just impact factor to determine the value one contributes. A system could be developed in which credit is attributed to those who carried out the original experiments. Lisa - NextBio
Mr Gunn I love that Rufus Pollock quote too :-) Lisa - NextBio
