"I don't want clever conversation I never want to work that hard I just want someone that I can talk to I want you just the way you are. " EWWWWW

I said I love you. That's forever. WHAT'S WRONG WITH THAT?

Wikipedia tells me: "Just the Way You Are" is a love song from Billy Joel's 1977 pop rock album, The Stranger. It was written as a birthday gift to Joel's first wife Elizabeth Weber. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki...

Ok . . . I admit . . . I totally LOL'd at that Anika
- Lindsey is Fierce!
Still, i took "i dont want clever conversation" as a reference to that fake talk people do to impress each other. or on the dating scene. i think you are a bit jaded. or OVERSENSITIVE!!!!
- nezua
LOL I may be jaded. I'm definitely cynical, but the whole song just sits wrong with me. I still maintain it's all about him.

I love this song too. But, the words are weird. Like a guy trying just a touch too hard to let his woman know he thinks she's smart and beautiful as is and instead implies that she's stupid.
