Aussie journo in London, soon to move to San Francisco.
@marenhogan I hope he explained that Dad is not actually the boss of Mom. Harumph!
Riding the Rails in Europe - http://www.nomadicmatt.com/travel-...
"I love trains and Europe has a great network. Overnight trains are great to get from A to B but daytime trains let you see C on the way. Depends how much time you have and how much you want to see C. I can’t wait for them to build the high-speed track from San Francisco to Los Angeles – federal funds have been earmarked so hopefully it will actually happen." - Caitlin
@minnemom @nerdseyeview Most of my extended family and my in-laws (hubby's aunts etc) are on Facebook and read the blog via Networked Blogs.
Benefit to train #travel: you can check out the countryside as you go. @nomadicmatt on riding the rails in Europe: http://www.nomadicmatt.com/travel-... #lp
.@nomadicmatt You should try Scotland for your next train journey - West Highlands Railway one of most scenic in world: http://www.ecosalon.com/riding-...
@Keira_McIntosh I wouldn't mind some options. Preferably stock options from Apple circa 1990.
@Keira_McIntosh As for Gill, I do enjoy his writing usually, but I'm going to find it hard to get past this and I'm not sure if I want to.
@markhjones You and @mumbrella have a few things in common. Eg. vision, imagination, willingness to experiment - important for editors.
@Keira_McIntosh Yes, I appreciate that - but he still killed the baboon. :-( I definitely don't think everyone has to have the same opinion.
@Keira_McIntosh For fun. Not self defence (baboon didn't attack and he went to Africa for the purpose). Not food (baboons are inedible).
@jayrosen_nyu Maybe they don't realise that things have changed since they retired?
@Keira_McIntosh I sent the second quote before I'd received the reply to the first. I didn't realise you were online right now.
@Keira_McIntosh Obviously we did! That's fine :-) I sent the quotes because you said you didn't recall part where he said it was for fun.
@markhjones @mumbrella Omigod, too funny! @markhjones = my boss 1999-2000 in Sydney and @mumbrella = my boss 2004-2005 in London
@Keira_McIntosh Gill: "The feeble argument of culling & control is much the same as for foxes: a veil for naughty fun." http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol...
@Keira_McIntosh He also described it as recreational (a word commonly associated with fun). Gill: "I’ll be a recreational primate killer."
@Keira_McIntosh I'm sure it's great but AA Gill is dead to me after he shot a baboon for fun.
RT @KimMance Cruise ship C02 emissions need to get better. Great to look 1 cruise line in the eye and talk to them about it. #FollowMeAtSea
@natballard Enjoying your insights into South America. Interesting that you are judging it as a place to live rather than visit.
@mollyblock Many people would say "Bob gave an ice cream to Molly and I" but this is totally wrong! It's "Molly and me" in this example.
Caitlin pulled an all-nighter to meet a legal deadline.
@mollyblock Other exception - if you're singing the Janis Joplin song about "me and Bobby McGee"
@mollyblock Nothing wrong with "me and..." if it's the object rather than the subject though - "and me" is more polite, not more correct.
@MissExpatria But I'm excited by this series: http://www.roamingtales.com/2009.... And I had fun with this post: http://www.roamingtales.com/2009...
It's cold and I don't have a winter dressing gown (bath robe) yet. So this morning I wore my Star Wars cloak [http://www.roamingtales.com/2009...]. Snug!
@MissExpatria Hard to decide! I'm proud of this one: http://www.roamingtales.com/2009... (predates #followmeatsea).
@MissExpatria Last 30 days or November?
@emiliaf Is it a cherry?
