Enable Chrome's Best Features in Firefox
yesterday at 2:19 pm - via Bookmarklet - Link
Great solutions for those who like the Chrome but find it hard to depart from their FF. - Nir Ben Yona
For me, with less than 512MB of RAM, Chrome's best feature is how light-weight it is. You can never "customize" Firefox to the point that it takes up as little RAM as Chrome does. That was the real selling point for me. 3 to 8MB of RAM usage vs. 20 to 40MB? Chrome is the CLEAR winner. - Sean McGee
Someone needs to make an extension that enable process management. That's the ONLY feature I want in Firefox. The memory caching is HORRIBLE! in FFx 3. :\ - Mona N.
Sean, bro... Get more RAM. - Steve Isaacs
Sean, you are totally right pertaining to memory handling. Unfortunately, the great Chrome lacks the useful add-ons we use on FF, though i'm certain we'd see them in the future. - Nir Ben Yona
FF3 for me baby! - Jonathan (Vacation Boy)
@Steve...I keep meaning to...it's just everytime I go into my local nerd store, I always pick other stuff up that I think is more important...New Hard Drive, Laptop AC Cord, SD Card Reader, etc...and before I know it, my wife informs me my budget is spent... - Sean McGee
Sean, quit wasting your time and get more RAM. - Michael J Cohen
Sean, and I thought you have one of those netbooks :) - Nir Ben Yona
It's more than RAM, though. I have a memory counter in Firefox. With only 3tabs open -- two all text, one tab for FriendFeed (old version) -- Ram cache = 23.6MB. And I *just* restarted my browser. This is getting seriously ridiculous. - Mona N.
Mona: have you tested the FF memory clean from add-ons? - Nir Ben Yona
The add-ons I utilitze don't cache memory. I specifically got rid of all my FFx2 ones, since 3 was giving me such problems. The only ones I have are: Twitterfox, Rejawfox, linkification, Greasemonkey -- disabled -- and new tab url lol. - Mona N.
You are going to hate me..FF never crashes on my machine..of course I run GNU/Linux :) - Fred Grott
It makes a valid point about those particular features but I have an issue with a couple of other things. First off, I will say that in my "Speed Test" Chrome is faster the FireFox. And also, yes you can do all that with extensions, but extensions take up memory, and lots of it. Chrome seems to do a great job at memory management. And what about the built in task manager, for me that is the most impressive feature. I'm not dogging FF, I love it to death. But, I don't think that FF can answer everything. - Mathew Ballard
Matthew: Couldn't agree with you more. If anything, Chrome should be 'compared' to Safari... which I should use, but I can't stand the way it looks. - Mona N.
Speed is amazing on Chrome and the web surfing is seamlessly. I just read Google already works on extensions, but it'd take time http://bit.ly/1KX1pA - Nir Ben Yona
Chrome is a good browser and I think it will eventually eat FF3's lunch once it gets extensions - which is good cause FF3 is a mess. IE8 beta 2 is looking really good (fast, stable, extensible and has had per process for ages) so it might come down to those two. Lots of good reasons why IE will survive. - Soulhuntre
like Sean I have less than 512MB RAM I too appreciate the light-weight. I should probably buy more RAM but I'm hesitant because the pc is getting old...and we're just in the process of moving, so there are many other things on top of my mind. Had only been an FF user since they released FF3 but had already gotten accustomed to certain plug-ins and extensions. - Rebkin
Rebkin, get yourself more memory, it's a different world. Meanwhile, if it's just a web surfing, use the Chrome, otherwise, use the FF. - Nir Ben Yona

Nice T-Shirt
Sunday at 1:53 am - via twhirl - Link
that is quite disturbing. the parents = FAIL - Mona N.
Had the same thoughts but still like the shirt :) - Nir Ben Yona
Me too. I love the shirt - Charles Lacz
I never get this. Don't tell my wife, but I don't get why 'bad' or 'curse' words are any better or worse for kids than anything else they see or hear on a daily basis. My kids are smart enough to know what is acceptable around company, so why not let them wear shirts like this? Can someone give me a good reason why not? Other than that my wife would kick my ass that is. I don't do anything this dumb unless we both agree on it, an action which saves me many a heartache, and some physical pain as well. - Aaron Krug
Of course, at this point, I, like Mona, am pretty drunk, so I would probably say something different tomorow. - Aaron Krug
I think the main issue would be using this kid for the entertainment/shock value of the shirt on a small child. :D - Earl E Morningwood
Aaron: Ozzy Osbourne says you are totally right. - Nir Ben Yona
@Nir after seeing a few episodes of his show I do consider myself a better parent than Mr. Osbourne, which is why I'm glad decisions like this are made while I'm sober with my better half. What can I say? I like thumbing my nose at the world, and would not mind if my kids felt the same way. Its a good thing my wife keeps me in line. - Aaron Krug
Aaron: i have no doubt you are :) - Nir Ben Yona
