Thats beside the point. its two-thousand-and freaking-nine. It should be baked in by default.
- Roberto Bonini
But if Microsoft took every good 3rd party app and baked the feature in to Windows, they'd kill lots of 3rd party app developers. In order to keep the ecosystem alive they have to pick and choose what functionality they bake it. Look at what happens when Apple steals app ideas on OS X and the iPhone.

Agree it should be in there by default, my only simple reason would be that how would they handle having two different size monitors where the monitor bases do not align? Like I said though that is my reason for not being pissed off that it doesn't do it by default. ;)
- Travis Koger
Create additional toolbars for the other monitors. Use them to hold quicklaunch and other stuff. Leave the real taskbar for only application buttons, tray, and start button. You will have accomplished basically the same thing.

I think this article overlooks the fact that Microsoft could simply implement Wave and be on par with Google. Wave is just a protocol and a server. If Microsoft builds it into Sharepoint and creates a slick web interface, then companies will buy the tie-in with Microsoft. Sure, individuals will probably still use Google Wave, but like email, it doesn't matter who you get it from since we can all use it.

I'll be in New York Monday for the Mets Game. I'd like to organize a FriendFeed Meetup while I'm out there. I'm thinking of something in the Times Square area. Who can come? Who else should I invite? Where would you like to go - any suggestions?
I'm thinking we should make it a Lunch meetup - is that good, or do we need to do dinner? (I just need to make the Mets game)
- Jesse Stay
I'd like to go to this. It'll be one of the last meetup type events I get to do in NY. Also, Times Square is a mess, even after they closed Broadway.
- Nick Malaguti
How are you getting there? If you are driving through Rochester give me a call :)
- Benjamin Golub
Benjamin I'll probably be driving, at least part of the way (I might park at my sister's in New Jersey and take the train in or something). Not sure if Rochester is on the way or not.
- Jesse Stay
Nick, you're more than welcome to come.
- Jesse Stay
I'm also open to other suggestions on where you'd like to have it. I'm not set on Times Square. I don't really know the area well so that's the first thing I think of. Also, please invite others you think should come. I'd love your ideas though!

You guys, I'm in Seattle for Gnomedex.
- Mona Nomura
Mona, Gnomedex isn't until August - get back here! ;-) (and congrats, btw)
- Jesse Stay
Jesse, are there conferences in a box? Where you just pop the lid open and it organizes itself so I can just show-up on the day of? TELL ME MORE! ;) I'm sorry to miss all of you... (thanks, btw)
- Mona Nomura
Mona, you mean they don't work that way? BTW, if I can figure out how to come up I'm hoping to be at Gnomedex. Gotta look at the budget around then though. Is there a final date I can register?
- Jesse Stay
Robert, awesome - that's the New York I know. :-)
- Jesse Stay
i thought roxys was kind of small - heartland brewery is relatively big - depends on how many people you expect - i like cosmic diner or westway diner too
- Allen Stern
Allen, well, thus far no one has confirmed so it may be kind of small. :-) I always liked Carnegie Deli, too - not sure how they work for a meetup though.
- Jesse Stay
ive been a fan of cosi lately - they have a load of locations, free wifi, loads of tables, fair price, etc. they dont care if you sit there for hours - but im open...
- Allen Stern
I second Heartland Brewery. My only problem with Times Square is that prices are artificially inflated there.
- Nick Malaguti
not everywhere nick - look in the right places and the pricing is perfect - also don't be afraid to negotiate at some food vendors
- Allen Stern
Allen, tell you what - let's have you choose the location and I'll be there. :-) It doesn't have to be Times Square - whatever works for everyone is fine with me.
- Jesse Stay
Robert Scoble, you are a scream. Do you read all the good posts on FF! Jesse, I wouldn't miss meeting you ever. I just called my son because he's an outlandish Met's fan. He showed me a cap he just got from ebay..mets of course. Don't worry about me and my food choice. I will come to say hello anyway.
- Myrna
I wish I could go but I can't take the kid anywhere. He's too little.
- Tamar Weinberg
Bad timing for me. I am actually in NYC for a wedding this weekend, but I will be leaving early afternoon sunday.
- Rob Diana
yeah, not many down here in LA either I'm guessing. The same applies to chicks that are into has-been sales guys between 5'8" and 5'10" with HUGE weiners. go figure.
