I think less use of twitter is actually a healthy thing. I still use twitter to converge rss feeds to here. and I created other accounts to keep track of other rss feeds. rss that only I want to see and a few friends. in some way twitter is more about rss convergence for me then a chat tool.
I feel this is a very healthy thing because twitter people are not very cool and I am glad to not take the scene seriously. I never block over a political difference, but it would seem 99% of twitter is intolerant towards divergent opinions. It is one thing to speak out, quite another to get ur friends to cyber gang bang a person who you disagree with and then label them a stalker. the twitter whores and eMom's are dead. Long Live friendfeed and the non block.

I sympathize with your feelings about Twitter, but you are a bit wrong. There are good people on Twitter you just need to get to know them. How you get to know them, is another story. Before I started with Twitter I spent over a year around SEO community and 1 year on Wikipedia, and 6 months on MyBlogLog. So when I came to Twitter I already had some friends who knew me. That helped me immensely. Getting to know people in one network helps you make new friends at another network.

Do not be so bitter, there are good people and bad people everywhere. Mybe it is a bit difficult for you because you are an Artist. You express yourself through your art, not through your words.
- Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
I understand there are good people on twitter. but the bubble that circulates out of the AList elite are scum. We all know who they are. It is hard to get to know the good people without going through them. I have been online for years. I also did art marketing for five years and know the art industry real well. I'm not some alienated teenager. I have many connections in real life... but the online scene is full of tyranny and socialism ...but of course who would benefit from elitism, but elitists?
- Noah David Simon
problem is most artists are not elitists. they are outsiders. most of my artists friends will not be voting for Obama or Ron Paul. they also will not be telling the world what they did on twitter and they don't think arguing with those same people on friendfeed is worthwhile either. most artists tolerate myspace and facebook as a publicity vehicle and frankly don't want to get to know the snobs. There are artists that are elitists and exist in a social space, but they are rarely the good ones.

my friend Greg Hergert http://friendfeed.com/drt is a master artist who I marketed in NYC. he is the best online relationship I have and he will not be voting for Obama or Ron Paul. I had to beg him to go on friendfeed and he finally did, but notice he doesn't interact. wonder why?
- Noah David Simon
Noah I understand. You have to have thick skin for Twitter. And artists just do not want to deal with the crap.

Maybe the reason that I am adopting on Twitter because I am not shy and not afraid to Bang! I think you are also ok on Twitter. Do what you can on it. But one word of advice, if you want Twitter to work for you, learn when to engage and when to walk away.

It may also help that I have lived in different societies and interacted in different social groups. It helps to be open minded when dealing with people. If you are closed minded and they are closed minded, it is very difficult to facilitate a connection. I am not saying it will work with everyone. Some people just have a firewall protecting them, and they are scared to open up no matter how hard your push. I've learned with people like that, it is better to live them alone and go your way.

With time when they recognize who and what your are, they may come asking to be your friends. Good luck with Social integration in different social groups.

I'm not exactly regional or isolated. I spent much of my early years in Europe with my family. The Theatre community I grew up in was international... not exactly a townie upbringing. I'm used to people of many different backgrounds... what I am not used to is a forum that is so closed minded to worldviews. It is a mature thing to speak of boundaries. It is realistic. And only elitists believe there shouldn't be any. Internationism is tyranny that occurs when people don't respect a world view.

I find it amazing how unforgiving people are who claim they are for peace. It makes their peace suspicious. I prefer honesty. NO ASSHOLES I WILL NOT COEXIST WITH YOUR INTOLERANCE!
- Noah David Simon
I suppose the people who I had problems with might say my philosophical outlook was damaging to their self. (this is an argument you yourself have made Mr. Troll) But how do these people know enough about me that they can qualify my views as being caustic? slim chance of that, and therefor I believe I am a victim of elitism. idea elitism... (most Jews have been dealing with this for thousands of year, so I take it in stride) Jews have always stood in the way of pop worldviews.

I think using Twitter and Friend Feed at the same time helps build your online identity in Social Media circles. It is hard to define who you are in 140 characters.
- Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
Try submitting articles to Friend Feed that are others not only yours. The Social Media community will recognize you as a contributor. If you just make it about "I" you will be treated as "I". So when you are asking others to have an open mind about you and you work, you should also have an open mind about others and their work. I am not saying they all do, but lead by example, not by mistake. Remember Social Media is about building an identity, defining who and what you are.

If you going to post a link you should discuss it, or people may think your are just Spamming. Maybe do not cross post so much of the same stuff. Depending where you are posting and how receptive the audiance are, you may want to start a discussion yourself, or have others comment on your links.
- Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
To keep posting links one after another my not be healthy to the group unless you getting feedback from the group about those links. So either slow down or change the material you are posting. You do want communication? Right? Communication is multidimensional not one way!

Please do not delete this post, it is an excellent post about how to interact and communicate in Social Media. I have linked to it from Igor The Troll room and Social Media room. Thank you,

I hope that there is someone out there in friendfeed besides you Mr. Troll. I put multiple posts out there to see what kind of feedback I can get. I'm not Alist... I can't fart and hear an opinion... so a wide net is necessary. I even asked people if multiple posts were a good idea and I didn't hear a problem. this is the real problem of putting someone with a divergent opinion in the corner. We just talk louder. I have no sympathy at this point towards others on the multiple posts.

SYBOK Now learn something about yourself. KIRK No. I refuse. McCOY (imploring) Jim, try to be open about this. KIRK About what? That I've made the wrong choices in my life? That I turned left when I should've turned right? I know what my weaknesses are. I don't need Sybok to take me on a tour of them. McCOY If you'd just unbend and allow yourself - KIRK And be brainwashed by this con man? McCOY I was wrong. This "con man" took away my pain. KIRK Damnit, Bones, you're a doctor. You know that pain and guilt can't be taken away with a wave of a magic wand. They're things we carry with us - the things that make us who we are. If we lost them, we lose ourselves. I don't want my pain taken away. I need my pain.
