My brother had a football game with a green outer shell. It was more a one player game. This one was for head to head. I remember having a few of those old Nintendo Game & Watch games too. We may have gotten rid of them in a garage sale years ago. - Rodfather

"Most excellent post. It's simple - if you make a good solid contact on Twitter, use a reliable (and more meaningful) network (social or business) to contain and hold that contact - especially if they're a business contact. At least then you can really "not care" if Twitter hiccups... which... really? You shouldn't. If you lose a contact, and they're valuable, on Twitter... refollow? It's like being defriended on MySpace... one of those "eh" moments. Not to downplay Twitter, but at the end of the day, though a useful tool for sharing things amongst friends, it's not really all that life threatening if you lose followers." - Enrique Gutierrez

"honest to God, if the iPhone measured up to the power hitters of cell-tech, I'd be all about it. You don't see me talk shit about the MacBook for a reason. But don't get me started on anything else about Apple. Afterall, I dropped $500+ on my N95 & spend $90/mo on my plan. It's not that much different than the iPhone in that sense - it's what the iPhone doesn't do (and could!) that's just stupid. Amazes me that people just don't care that they're being marketed, targeted and fucked by a corporation led by the Turtleneck." - Enrique Gutierrez

The problem with video is it is really a one directional broadcast. I can imagine some tweetup events that might make it to a video reel..but not most of the two way conversation. - jerry
Jerry, the idea is less about broadcasting the actual tweetups, and more about giving members of the group to use the channel to broadcast themselves. Of course kyte does, however, allow the two way conversation to occur with their chat feature. - Jennifer Van Grove via twhirl
What about using Stickam or Ustream? Set up a central computer with a webcam that could broadcast the event. Of course internet access would be the issue. Otherwise, you would have one moderator at the cpu conducting short interviews with various people that use Twitter and give them a chance to plug their product or service. Even if stickam or ustream is out you could still use this idea for Kyte as well. - Just a thought. - Chris Rodgers
Jen...if that's the purpose, wouldn't a consistent tag work just as well and allow more platform choice then a channel within one application framework? - jerry
Chris, the reason I'm leaning towards Kyte is the live broadcasting options, esp cool via phone. Your idea might be a little difficult to manage, but I could definitely see live interviews at the tweetup being particularily fun. Jerry, we already use tags for that purpose, so I was thinking of something slightly different, although I do get your jist. - Jennifer Van Grove via twhirl
Stickcamp or Ustream would be optimal for this type of thing... Kyte would best be used much like the flickr wall, or twitter shoutwall, to allow people at the event to interact with a service they use over the web, and have it not only broadcast-wide, but also be shown at the event. Qik and Kyte would be a good marriage for this type of interaction, but if it's merely to "advertise" the people at the event, that kind of narcissism is tired and old marketing. - Enrique Gutierrez
Enrique, I'm not sure where you get narcissism or old marketing from what I was suggesting. The Kyte show I did explains my intentions really well http://www.kyte.tv/ch/76987-jb... . Really I'm just trying to find cool and interesting ways to connect our group, advertising was and is the furthest thing from my mind. - Jennifer Van Grove
"video bios" - self publiscizing, aka, 1.0 advertising methodologies. It's one thing to have an "About Me" on the blog, or an interview done by someone about something interesting you've done, but otherwise - unless I'm picturing this wrong - it's just a form of publicity that's not really what SMM is all about in the first place - Enrique Gutierrez via twhirl
We're talking about two different things. I'm talking about ways to connect the group - video bios as introductions & any other tweetup related content, you're talking about SMM. I'm not trying to market anything, so the term doesn't even apply - there's no message pushing going on, and if there was people would see right through it. Building and connecting a community is an entirely different concept from SMM. - Jennifer Van Grove via fftogo

Matt...my only issue is that I hate making users go out to get just another account..although at least they support open id. - jerry
jerry: OpenID pretty much eliminates the need to create "another account" but also... unless they changed this... I don't believe logging in is required to post a comment. - Enrique Gutierrez
jerry, you don't have to create a Disqus account if you don't want to...your comments are still tracked though and if you do create an account you can claim those comments when you join, which is wicked cool in my book - Jennifer Van Grove via twhirl
Jen: yes, the unverified option is there but most naive users will likely click on it thinking they are verifying their content and will then be led to create yet another account. It's just a shame it doesn't use a local account to verify. - jerry

about:config and set "browser.urlbar.maxRichResults" to 0 but it's a great feature and I love it - Dobromir Hadzhiev
maxRichResults = 0 removes any sort of completion, which is not what Kevin's looking for. Oldbar will do it, though. - Mark Trapp

Yeah, I used to hate that autocomplete, but overtime my brain adjusted to fully love it. It took some weeks before I realized I was getting annoyed at Safari for not finding what I was looking for! - felix

Love the new address bar. :D - Tanath
mainly i like the name: AwesomeBar. - edythe
The awesome bar is like marmite. I've learned to love it - Neil Dunn
Awesome bar is junk because webmasters SPAM titles of their site! Oldbar all the way. I've been using FF3 for more than a month and still find it annoying, because when I type "digital" I don't want to be presented with buy.com just because they have "digital cameras" in the title. Arrrgh - Max Smolev
Awesome bar rocks. - Elias Torres
I ignore it and just type the whole address... mainly because it's not awesome. They need it to be an "option" not the sole feature. - Enrique Gutierrez via twhirl
Nevermind - I now use this: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-... - Enrique Gutierrez via twhirl
That's the cool thing about it: Type in the normal Url, and everything works perfectly. But if you find out how to use it more efficiently, you'll love it. I didn't realize a big change in the beginning, until I started to try it out. Now, I search my history through the awesome bar at least 50% of the time, and I love it. It helps me a big deal. Funny thing for Google Docs users: type in "new document", and the page for new documents should pop up. ;) - sebmos
But it doesn't. My standard way of navigating is to type in 'rea' and choose between 'Google Reader' and 'RealClearPolitics'. Now if I type in 'Rea' I get a list of a whole lot of sites that have 'Rea' in their page title, and the two sites I care about are much lower on the list. It works worse for me, and many people who already used the old autocomplete. If you never used the old autocomplete it's probably a lot better. - Kevin Fox
Kevin, you just have to use it a while longer. The sites you visit more frequently will bubble to the top of the list. After you've used it for a while, you'll find that it really is more powerful. (I hated it at first too.) - Brad Lauster
It's great because you can use it either way, it's just a matter of typing the right snippet & picking from the list. Type the right thing and you can usually get a very short list. And it learns when you use things frequently. - Tanath
The green url and the black title are making it hard to parse. If they make the green lighter, it'll be a lot better. - Jing Lim
You can also "search" using multiple terms too. You don't have to keep typing out a URL or title that has too many near matches. - Tanath
