I’m an Ex-XM Subscriber - http://technologizer.com/2009...
I might join Harry. I just don't think XM delivers the bang for the buck it once did. As stated, the iPhone does so much more. - John Denver

@rayinsd Star Trek was pretty good. Was it me or did Kirk get his ass kicked an awful lot though?
I think Bones was the best one in the movie. Urban did a spot on Bones - Tim Vo
Indeed. I think they went to the "Dammit Jim" well one too many times, but it was funny. - John Denver

Microsoft confirms that Windows 7 Starter will run more than 3 apps - http://community.winsupersite.com/blogs...
Agree with Thurrot here. Removing the 3-app limitation is a great step but removing the ability to change the wallpaper and color schemes is just being punitive. Bat mojo, Microsoft. - John Denver

Should SCVMM live inside a VM or on a physical server? - http://blogs.technet.com/scvmm...
Kind of a chicken/egg scenario. I think we will stick with physical for the management servers. Just seems like a better idea. - John Denver

Cmon Microsoft... just price it comfortably below the iPod Touch and you will have a winner on your hands. - John Denver

Google Chrome gets even faster ... On Google sites ... According to Google - http://community.winsupersite.com/blogs...
If they just added a native way to have Adblock, I would switch on a heart-beat. - Manuel Mas
It seems much faster to me. Firefox has seemed very bogged down to me lately. - TonyatMATC
Might have to start using a hosts file type adblocking as chrome is just getting nicer and nicer. I forget how quickly a browser can work. It's sad that a small quick browser was the original plan for firefox. - Daniel Johnston
Daniel: Don't that adblocking solution mean slower speeds? - Manuel Mas
I heart Chrome, but not working in Win 7 is major fail. - John Denver
Probably. Ive never really looked into it, as I have always had adblock plus. I wouldn't want to update the hosts file myself either, so I'd have to have a TSR updating the hosts file (preferably with a form of the easylist) - Daniel Johnston
I think Google purposely slows down their own sites if you are using IE I have tested this out on both firefox and IE8 and it is markedly faster on firefox. - Rustic Thoughts
Works on Win 7 for me - TonyatMATC
@John Shue: Maybe, just maybe, IE is actually slower? Shall we say, markedly slow? - Byron McCollum
John Shue: IE is slower than either Safari or Chrome on a variety of sites I visit, sometimes dramatically slower. - Robert Scoble
CHROME SuX, But i luv it:d - Amir
Amir: That doesn't make any sense... - Manuel Mas
Native adblock + Chrome = winner winner chicken dinner. - Tech Introvert
I mean Sometimes Sux and Crash - Amir
Scobilizer- I would love Chrome if it had native RSS Support. Oh well back to using Firefox I guess. - Rustic Thoughts

I call it...Blue Steel. LOL. Went to watch the vid today but the New Horizon's network is ungodly slow. This is where the video paused while re-buffering. I HAD to get a screenshot. Thought you would enjoy it. Tell GL Code I said "Hi".

I like it but requiring hardware virtualization is a killer. That tech is common on server procs but very rare on desktops. - John Denver
Im looking forward to this part of win7 as I have a couple of apps that didnt play well with vista and I want to see if this will bring these back from the dead pool. - Rob Truman

Saw Wolverine and I can sum it up in one word. Meh. Action scenes were cool but continuity is thrown out the window
Don't care much for Wolverine but I do want to see Star Trek... looks cool. - John Denver
Ealry reviews are very good for Star Trek. Trekkies will make it the block office winner this summer - Tim Vo
I heard the same. Gotta find that "other geeky black dude" star trek fan video for you guys. The one where he's really REALLY podantic about....the TRAILER. - Phillip S. Palmer

How many Intel CPUs will fail the XP Mode test in Windows 7? - http://blogs.zdnet.com/Bott...
I have already been bitten by this. My C2D desktop does not have VT, so I needed to order another. I don't think XP mode will work on any of our deployed PC's or laptops. I know Virtual PC will operate without VT, so I wonder why they made it mandatory for this release? - John Denver

I agree with putting them on back to back. This gives you overflow possibility. Blending one into the other where one might need more time than another. I also agree with it making it viewable live for me. Both back to back at 6:00 PST. By the way TWIT is developing a fine reputation for food and wine live, Perhaps have dinner live like Leo. - Newell Unfried
Its not this week. You are talking about the future. You typically are discussing the advances in the design of hardware which will benefit the consumer. Advances in Digital Hardware Design - Newell Unfried
Look with this change in time I won't be able to watch live. I already watch to much TWIT. I need this on itunes so I can listen during my commute. I have other media needs during my time home. - Newell Unfried

Screenshot Tour: First Look at Ubuntu 9.04 "Jaunty Jackalope" Beta
I installed it on my Mac Mini and I'm very impressed. Managed to get my screen's resolution working without too much trouble. Suspend works as expected. Overall it's looking really really good. - Paul Grav from Bookmarklet
Ubuntu is fabulous - I have it set up dual bootup for Ubuntu and Windows XP on my desktop and my laptop. It is almost cathartic to not see the blue screen or the pain in the backside programs that won't shut down when you reboot like you see with Windows allll the time :) - Renee Hendricks
I may have to use Ubuntu as a work machine. I'm a little worried that I'm going to be a little bit lost without my system wide keyboard shortcuts. - Paul Grav
I've always hated that the default screen resolution during installation is so high that it fails to display on older monitors and LCD's. Had that happen again the other day and had to abort the install. Bummer. - John Denver

Very funny. However (comma) in Twitter's defense, it can be used for good or banal eeee-vile. It's like anything else that's tech. It's not about what it does but about the outcomes it achieves. :-D - Phillip S. Palmer

» Back to the wall, VMWare releases open source client - http://www.tectonic.co.za/...

Thank you for this! I am virtualizing a DC right now and we need CHEAPER and open solutions! :) - Susan Beebe
VMWare is another example of a victim of technology sedimentation: if a technology should be packaged with the OS layer, it will end up there. - Christophe Pierret
how it this a such a good thing? they are only releasing the client as open source. The client only allows you to connect to a virtual machine. The other really open source visualization tools allow you to do everything from actually hosting the virtual machines to management and connecting to them - Mihai Secasiu
Technically, they're using open source in this instance as a way to improve market take up of an existing - proprietary - infrastructure product. In this case, the open client simply allows the use of Linux hosts to view a Windows (or other) virtual desktop hosted on a backend VDI infrastructure. Now, the real response to changing market conditions was the release of the (free) ESXi... more... - Mike Holland
Mike has the situation about right. The title of that piece isn't insightful - this move is about offense, not defense. This is a step towards enabling everywhere access to your desktop in the cloud. - John Troyer
VMware has a HUGE installed base--I wouldn't say their backs are to the wall. Still, if they are feeling a bit of heat from the competition that can only be good for us! - Steve Kaiser from twhirl
