Apple is the new Microsoft - http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r...
The history could have been different in so many ways, that I really wonder how happy we would be now if Apple would have been Microsoft since the beginning. And in that respect, what would have been now the new Apple :) - Dani Radu
Weird. I thought that Google was the new Microsoft. - Akiva Moskovitz
watching, waiting.... - Mary Anne Davis
Dani, I wonder, too. I suspect we'd all be pissed at Apple, just in diff't ways. Akiva, I think that Google plays a very similar role as Microsoft did, but in a different space, Google dominates the web. The similarity I see in Apple is on the desktop, taking similar tactics but doing them much better because Apple control's the entire stack from hardware through apps, where Micrsoft slacked off and only did the soft part of the stack. :) - felix
This seems to come up after every keynote... - Bwana ☠
Bwana, it's true, but this one... well, this one toed a line much further than any before it. mobileme and that whole background/push thing. I dunno. As for their reasons for disallowing background and providing this "better" solution. Is everyone buying that? Like when Jobs was like, no native apps, but check it web apps are better! Except for in both cases, Apple devs get access to these "unnecessary" bits. - felix
Well I experienced first hand what running apps in the background can do to an iPhone so I believe them regarding that. As for the "spin", I look at it like I do every other company, they're out to make money first. Everything else is a distant second. - Bwana ☠
