Thomas, it's an arbitrary cap set by felix for performance purposes, probably. It was set at 300, and he raised it. I'm sure he'll raise it again if you ask nicely :) - Mark Trapp
There's a hole in the API so it can't do everything it needs with the api key - David Knight
Thomas, just saw this - I upped the cap, but it's possible if you have so many contacts the connection could time out pulling the data, let me know if it works for you. :) and Adewale, DKnight got it right, unfortunately the API doesn't provide the data I need so I'm actually screen scraping this data which means I need to actually pretend to be you. I promise I don't store your password, but it's always a risk. - felix
thanks felix. Will try it again now. Fantastic app! - Thomas Hawk
I don't think that there is a "hole" in the API. The friendfeed founders have been pretty explicit about not wanting friendfeed to turn into popularity contests like facebook, where people try to get as many "friends" (or followers or whatever) as possible. - Robert Felty
From the late adopter department: Just tried it. Incredible. Period. Especially for managing large groups. Found a bunch of people (easily and quickly) that I would want to be following back and weren't.. Great stuff Felix !!!! ... and ... thanks for the reminder Thomas :) - Charlie Anzman
what's the latest stats now regarding the number of units sold PS3 vs 360? anybody? - Mark L via Alert Thingy
PS3 is behind... today... Sony goes long. Those stats are all over the place. Wii cleans up, Xbox is still king in the US (despite rampant hardware failures), and PS3 is meh. Sony has said the PS3 is a 10 year console, and watching the PS2 still ride high, I believe it. I don't care, I'm committing to the PS3 at this point. - Eric Rice
Sony announced Home a good long ago, then clammed up and never said another thing about it, and I assumed it was stuck in Development Hell and went vaporware on us. Then again, I thought the same of Little Big Planet, except they're now delivering. Still, given how long it seems Sony has been working on this, it better rock pretty hard if they want anyone to care - Ivan via fftogo
I keep wanting to Like my own post. Snap, I'm becoming a fanboy! - Eric Rice
It looks very good, but it is really up to the area/room devs to create a sticky experience that you return back to. Else it will be just one marketing gimmick after another, promoting their game. - Frans via twhirl
that looks so pretty. it's like the slick lovechild of SL and Wii. i shall name it WiiSL. - faboo mama
This is making the new 360 dashboard look just plain silly. Interested to see how social it will really be. - Do You KNOW Clarence?
faboo: yeah only it's not fruit like the Wii. The Xbox is fruity. I dunno, i think I'd feel kinda douchey in say, a CALL OF DUTY lobby with a Mii. The Mii works for Nintendo. Xbox... not so much. At least in Home, I can prolly smell the aroma of death and war by high def pixeltrons. Also, Second what? /smirk - Eric Rice
come on, its totally eye candy. i admit it; i drooled and thought of all of the cutesy/destructive things i'd like to do to it in a gta meets the sims sort of way. i guess this means a ps3 is in my future after all. i have to see the other vids to see how customizable it is. but my imagination is soaring with the thought. - faboo mama
It looks neat. Am I wrong in thinking that Sony's platform isn't open like that of Second Life? In other words, developers won't own the clothes, buildings, etc. they create in the environment? - John
John for the time being yes, and the big social question is, do you get that kind of quality when something is open to everyone? Look at Google Lively's drama and they are CLOSED. It's a crossroads we're at. The consumer/producer market. There won't be flying penises here. As a developer-type, I have to jump through ups, and that's a bummer, the barrier is high. Quality of life goes up, on the other hand. What does everyone want. - Eric Rice
And trust me, as someone as embraces low barriers and access to all, there are more times lately where I'm like 'oh thank god it's closed'... It's humbling in a sheepish kind of way. It also kicks some cred to what Andrew Keen says in some cases. And we know how that name just makes people's hair stand up on end. - Eric Rice
I don't follow. Why would I want to play RC boats when I could actually be playing a real game with friends? To me, it seems like an elaborate time-killer which will become tiresome quickly after the initial draw. - Nick Munson
I think this could work out very well for Sony. - Jason Wehmhoener
Nick: Things to do while you wait for your slow ass friends to arrive. Then again, it's a setup for emergent behavior. I can't begin to tell you how many times I walk into a game that people are NOT doing what they are supposed to-- games are adding these free sandbox modes for people to do whatever. Imagine being in GTA 4 with killing turned off, cops turned off, because the mood of the room is all 'let's launch boats off the statue of liberty'... - Eric Rice
I've kinda been amazed at people who just hang out and BS with each other and drive around the cities. The bigger a world, the more chances for stuff to exist for people to do what they want. I prolly won't hang out in any Madden NFL lounges, but I'll prolly hang out in Warhawk lounges. It's not like the RC boat is the only thing that will be there now and forever more. Some companies DO listen to users. And playstation group is GREAT with this. Talk about someone 'getting' social media-- the ps3 guys. - Eric Rice
BTW, anyone wanna try and take me down in an RC boat, go ahead and BRING IT. Esp. you Wehmhoener. ;) - Eric Rice
@Eric: That's true. I'd like to see Home be a success to drive innovation on the other systems to match it. For now, I'd still hop in an open game of what I'm planning to play and wait for someone to log on and join in. - Nick Munson
@Nick Munson: ditto to what Rice said. it's like how the sims has other goals while you're doing something or how in SWG you could do the missions or just run around with your friends and find something else to do. - faboo mama
Total eye candy it may be, but it looks like a giant shopping mall and target range for advertisers, in which you are the target. Walk around, be lucrative for Sony and play with silly toys. They should portion the world off to registered members and give them robust open tools to build and script stuff - flying penises and all, no holds barred. Because, silly arcade games are already virtual, I don't need another layer of abstraction to make them less engaging. - Goran Zec
Heh, Goran, that's the damn gaming industry. But hey, I guess it depends if a Burger King ad on a billboard in a city bothers you or not. Also, people like to shop and sometimes, just sometimes, people kinda like hanging around brands. Make me a Red BullLand and I am SO THERE. - Eric Rice
I know, I know. They just didn't convince me so far that it'll be anything but a giant billboard-fest. And they seem to really need it to succeed, PS3 is not doing too well content-wise. - Goran Zec
/me gets busy practicing his Burnout RC Boat skills. - Jason Wehmhoener
http://www.joedawsons.com/feed... I have a lot of images of my family adventures which get uploaded so I wouldn't subscribe if you don't want that fed into GReader! - Joe Dawson
This is my going to bed mark so I know where to start adding feeds in the morning. keep em coming, and anyone reading this, feel free to add as many people as you like - Duncan Riley
Here's another video I've never seen and didn't favorite. Is something weird going on with FF or YouTube? - Tad Donaghe
@tad its ok - you can admit it - we won't think less of you, its cute! ; ) - Marco
@anna your intentional misspelling just registered +1! - Marco
@Tad, is someone else using one of your PCs to browse and fave Youtube vids? The video shows in your faves over on your Youtube profile, it's not a FF issue. - cmiper
Even when I'm working (planning the IEA 2008 enneagram conference http://friendfeed.com/e/ca8a2a... before my white-water rafting trip...and running late. Should have left Yosemite 1 hr ago), it's cool to take a break & surf pictures for 15-30 min! FriendFeed can be a productivity sink (but a fun one...) - Mitchell Tsai
