So I’ve been planning my second aquarium setup. It’s going to be “El Natural” style, also called “Low Tech.” I’ll be using a base substrate of Miracle Gro Organic Choice soil and a cap of Tropic Isle Tahitian Moon Sand. For lighting, I’m planning on using my Single GLO Life-Glo T5 HO [...] Related posts:Started New Journals For My AquariumsLost Aquarium Filter Parts

What ever happened to ipv6? I see most operating systems support it now, but haven't seen it used. WTF?
I've gotten help from Frank in the past, but not for this problem. I rebooted my router and the connection seems to have become stable. I can't really believe it's my router, since it's brand new. The last time the modem decided to reset itself every 5 minutes is when I replaced the router. The modem decided to start resetting again tonight, but every minute or so. The modem has already been replaced once. The line to the modem is straight from the drop, brand new cabling.

In fact, I think I'll email him. 140 characters just won't do.

I had an almost identical problem to yours. Got the run around from local customer service. Posted about it on my blog and then tweeted a link to that post that said "Hey comcast! Read this!" He saw it. Problem was fixed the next day.

Holy crap. 2 different email replies within 5 minutes of sending them email. Still, it won't be until tomorrow morning for them to look into it. Which is acceptable, since it's after 5pm here. =)

good to know they still get after it! Hope they work it out quickly for you.

Ooh. Maybe I'll try this to see if Comcast will run the cable line from the end of my driveway (that's where cable service stops) down to my house. :)

Turns out it is a problem on my side. Something was causing the modem to reset on my side. After playing with things, I plugged my router into an outlet not on my UPS and the connection hasn't reset yet. So hopefully this will end my connection problems.

Next test, plug modem directly to my computer.
- Beau Liening
WTF. The modem is plugged directly into the computer. Nothing else between it and the computer. And the modem resets. This didn't happen with the tech had his laptop plugged in for 20 minutes. ARGH.

So the comcast cares people called me and said they'd be calling local management to send out a team to get me back up and running. About half hour later the local installation manager called and said she was sending a tech and teamleader out tomorrow between 12 and 2. That's cool. Then I guess the tech supervisor called and talked to my sister trying to give the "it's your equipment" spiel. My sister wasn't having it. I'm at work tonight anyway. So we'll see what happens tommorrow.

The comcast cares people will probably call you to follow up. Maybe you should take some names for when that happens.

They're trying to put the modem on USB but apparently the drivers aren't compatible with windows 7. They're going to try a docsis 3 modem next I think.

OK. They left the internet/telephone modem in place, but only the telephone is connected. They installed an internet only modem for my internet. They still think it's a voltage problem with my NICs, but since the NICs are less than a few months old, I really don't think that's the problem. So we're trying it this way because the internet only modem is less sensitive to voltage. If it works, I'll be happy. We'll see. =)

ugh. That's frustrating. Hope the new fix is the good fix.
