Jacobus Rentmeester is suing Nike in federal court in Oregon for copyright infringement. Not only is he asking for profits associated with the Jordan brand, which generated $3.2 billion in retail sales in 2014, but he also is seeking to halt current sales and plans for the brand's future. - DB, Lil LB's Dad from Bookmarklet

This seems a stretch to me. (HA!) The photographer isn't Michael Jordan. Even if every claim the photographer makes in the article is true, they're not using his photo -- they're using a drawing of Michael Jordan doing a particular move, and many elements in the silhouette don't match up. The only person who should own the rights to a silhouette of Michael Jordan is Michael Jordan himself. You can't claim copyrights for poses or ballet moves. - Stephen Mack
That may be true but dude's still gonna get a fat settlement check from this. If I were him though I'd angle for some type of on-going royalty agreement. Do you know how much Jordan branded merchandise Nike sells in a year? - DB, Lil LB's Dad
I think he may have a case, considering Michael even states that it was Rentmeester who originally had him pose in that manner. It wasn't a coincidental shot, but a deliberate action for artistic value. - NOT THE CRICKET
I'm no lawyer but how is a pose copyrightable? - Stephen Mack from iPhone
It's more than pose, you have same subject, same approximate pose, same use of off hand rather than primary. All of that and other factor's combine to create the piece. The image, that was created after and used for several years, before being silhouetted, could possibly attempt to claim derivative work, but that won't hold up because it takes nearly every bit of the prior work and... more... - NOT THE CRICKET

I could be wrong but "Choir Boy" doesn't seem like a very intimidating nickname for a UFC fighter. #justsaying

Over 80 percent of Americans support “mandatory labels on foods containing DNA” - The Washington Post -
The Oklahoma State survey result is probably an example of the intersection between scientific ignorance and political ignorance, both of which are widespread. The most obvious explanation for the data is that most of these people don’t really understand what DNA is, and don’t realize that it is contained in almost all food. When they read that a strange substance called “DNA” might be included in their food, they might suspect that this is some dangerous chemical inserted by greedy corporations for their own nefarious purposes. - DB, Lil LB's Dad from Bookmarklet

Is there a mercy rule in the NFL? If so I think its time for them to invoke it. We've seen enough.

Bummed my Cowboys lost. Tough (but correct?) call at the end. Hopefully the Grizzlies can cheer me up tonight. #GoGrizz #GrizzNation

Watch How The U.S. Stole Land From Native Americans | Co.Design | business + design
Saunt's article is a sobering explanation of the nefarious methods the United States used to seize land. Since most land was "ceded" using treaties, it may appear that Native Americans gave up their land willingly and peacefully, but in many cases they had no other options and handed over the land though bribery or force. The government also used federal legislation and executive order to take land from natives. In the 19th century, presidents like Andrew Jackson, Abraham Lincoln, and Grover Cleveland created small reservations for tribes that once controlled vast areas. The Invasion of America is a stark demonstration of how quickly these legal fictions were used to erase people, and just how much what was once their land we now claim as our own. - DB, Lil LB's Dad from Bookmarklet

I'm from Jackson, about 80 miles away. We're practically related. - MoTO: #TeamMarina
Technically he's from Millington but nobody knows where that is so he claims Memphis. His Grandma still lives there. He always brings her to the games whenever he's in town. - DB, Lil LB's Dad

It's disheartening being accused of of being untrustworthy when you've done nothing to warrant it. May have to start looking for a new job.
Damn. So sorry to hear. - MoTO: #TeamMarina from Android

Ew. That sucks. - SAM
Aw, no. :-( I'm really sorry about that, DB. - vicster

My team lead informed me that our manager had approached him about the possibility that I was lying on my time card. Apparently he saw me enter the building yesterday at a time much later than my normal start time. - DB, Lil LB's Dad from Android
what? dang. I hope it gets sorted without incident. - t-ra supports #LOLSpidra
Unbeknownst to him I've started taking walks around the compound around 10 everyday. My new job is very sedentary so the physical activity is nice. I guess he didn't see me leave but saw me come back in and assumed I was just getting there since I was all bundled up (what with it being cold and all). I guess when he saw me leave at my normal time (I waved at him in the hallway for... more... - DB, Lil LB's Dad from Android
I feel like I'm paying for the sins of my predecessor. He was unreliable and a bit shady. I was told thee paperwork was being put in to transition me from a contract position to full time a few weeks ago. This makes me wonder if that's in jeopardy now. - DB, Lil LB's Dad from Android
Sorry DB :( - Tamara J. B. from FFHound(roid)!

#derrickhrm - 1) a. is your daily constitutional within work guidelines? b. is your team lead cool with what you're doing? 2) has your team lead indicated that he/she will inform your manager of your daily constitutional? I'd answer those questions before I looked for a new job. (not that you asked :) ) - MoTO: #TeamMarina
Not cool. :-( - YvonneM
Going for walks/doing physical activity during the work day is encouraged here. It's a health insurance company and wellness is the new buzzword in the industry. Lots of folks do it including my team lead. He vouched for me and said he had squashed it with our boss but basically said watch your back. I'm not preparing to leave but this definitely has my antennas up. I'll be more guarded now. - DB, Lil LB's Dad from Android
That sucks. People who've been burned by someone in the past often interpret things in ways that look like other people are about to burn them, too. I hope your team lead was successful in allaying those unfounded suspicions. - Spidra Webster
Ah. My bad. You're a grown ass man doing it the right way. I should have known. I completely relate. - MoTO: #TeamMarina
I'm not really sure why this hurt my feelings so much. I guess it's because I consider myself an honest person and know I didn't do anything wrong. Couple that with my nervousness about getting on as an FTE (and getting benefits!) and I guess I'm a bit on edge. - DB, Lil LB's Dad from Android
Having someone with doubt in their mind, that sucks. I've been there. Sorry man. I hope it all blows over. - Eric - ill subliminal
DB, I am very sorry to here this I have been there,God have something better for you and you will be very happy than you have been in a long time,God Bless:)))) - Marvin Whitehead Jr
Thanks Marvin. That's the thing. I feel like this is the job. It's not exactly my dream job but it's the best job I've ever had and is perfect for me at this point in my career. I'll keep doing what I'm doing. The folks I work with daily are pleased with my work. Hopefully my manager will eventually realize what an asset I am. - DB, Lil LB's Dad
That's unfortunate. :( Hope your manager's misconceptions are cleared up soon. - Jenny H.
Just watched #EmpireFOX premiere. My reaction. Meh. Taraji was good as usual but there's a serious lack of talent on the set around her.
