I'm pretty sure my first blog post was on LiveJournal. I have no idea if it still exists or not. I haven't even visited LiveJournal in probably close to 10 years. My first blog post on HTMLCenter was apparently in October 2006 and can be viewed at http://www.htmlcenter.com/blog... ETA - Just recovered my username and password for LiveJournal. It wasn't as long ago as I thought it was. My first post there was from June 7, 2004. I'm pretty sure my LiveJournal is marked as private, though, so I can't link you to my first post.

I posted this earlier in the week. The date reads 2005, but I wrote it and posted it on my first blog in March 2004: jesus called him “friend” — MARCH 7, 2005 . . . . I have been thinking about the readings for Palm/Passion sunday, and I came to realize that in the gospel of Matthew there are only two times real people are referred to as a “friend.” the first time is when Jesus is called a friend of publicans and sinners. The second time is when Judas is addressed by Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane. Jesus says to Judas, “Friend, do what you came to do.” . . . . .I, at least, find it rather amazing that of all the people Jesus could have called friend in Matthew, he only does so to Judas. I still don’t know what to make of it exactly, but I will continue to ponder its meaning.

April 2004. The blog no longer exists.

I really feel old. Can't believe it's been 10 years. I'm reading back through my old posts. I was so young acting (as Wifey would say). Thought I had lived but hadn't really lived yet. Oh the insights I could provide my 25 year old self now.

Thanks to you, I've just spent the last 30 minutes or so reading through some of my first blog posts. I'm the same way you are, DB. It's wild to think that just 8 years ago I wrote and thought so differently.

Wow, it's been a long time. April 4, 2005. Private at the moment, but it may change. I haven't touched it in a couple years.

This is the oldest blog post that still exists and is public. http://cranialsoup.blogspot.com/2005... There are a few older I am holding in draft mode and will never publish publicly, and others that were permanently deleted in 2002 when I deleted the first version of Cranial Soup. What is funny is how I am still using the same "brain in a bowl with a spoon" logo graphic from that first blog. That and the blog's name are all that remain.

June 1, 2002. It was something generic like 'I'm starting a blog.' Its probably in the internet archives, but I never backed up that first blog. :-(

I played around in 2002, but that blog got lost. I got more into it in November, 2003, after an Internet Librarian workshop. My first post from then doesn't seem to have a permalink, but here are all the 2003 posts: http://www.intelligenthumanagent.com/search...

Looks like we got started around the same time Trish. Great minds and all that...

Not sure exactly when (it's backed up on a ZIP disc) but probably November 1996.

Dang. I was just building little rudimentary pages on Geocities and the server space they allotted us at school back in '96. Learning HTML by looking at other peoples source code. That was a fun time.

Crazy...August 12, 2001. It's a Live Journal private entry so linking wouldn't do much good :|

Created my personal site in 10/1/97. First blog-type post on 9/5/99.

Sometime in August 2002. On Blogger. I don't remember the URL, since I deleted the blog a long time ago.

My geocities site was like my first blog, although I didn't use the term until blogger came out & I started using that. Was that 99? Later? Some of my earlier stuff might still be online. I stopped in 2003 when I didn't have internet access anymore.

I had a site on Geocities back around 1996 or so; but it looks like the first successful Internet Archive capture of it was in 2001. I also hosted an online literary magazine with Geocities, which started around Nov. 1997. The addresses were http://www.geocities.com/SoHo... and http://www.geocities.com/SoHo.... I have no idea why I remember this stuff.

Jan 1998. I'm glad it doesn't exist online anymore as I was naive enough to put too much personal information on there. It can hardly be described as a blog by modern standards, it was probably crafted with Netscape's editor.

Yeah my first official web page came online in 1995 too. Each student got space on one of the servers at school. Outside of me and my buddies I don't think very many people were aware of this. It was still up a few years after I transferred but is long gone now. I learned rudimentary HTML coding on the 4 shiny new Solaris Sparc workstations in the computer lab. Good times.

I started with poems on Myspace back in '05. That was just angsty teen stuff, I deleted it from the site, but archived them somewhere. First serious blog post was this: http://theinnovationist.com/2008... It was actually from an earlier date, but I had moved it from a different source and decided to backdate on a regular schedule rather than post actual dates.
