I'll be standing at line outside the Rogers because according to my friend who works there, they'll only receive eight 16GB Iphone 3G's and the rest will be 8GB....weird.
- Jeremy
awesome news, now how about posting TWiT a few minutes early tonight in celebration?
- Jordan
We don't hold on to TWiT - Dane posts it the minute it's ready. (Which should be soon.)
- Leo Laporte
Is it cool just to buy a 32MB iTouch, most of the coolness, none of the AT&T?
- Steven Van Tilburg
from twhirl
I figured it'd be cool to buy a used, deactivated iPhone with most of the coolness and none of the AT&T, and it would still have the potential to be a phone again.
- MiniMage, enterRUPPted
I wonder if Super Monkey Ball would fit on a 32 MB iPod Touch:)
- Grant
I have to agree with Keith, Leo. Is there going to be an audio stream or podcast of some of the twitlive activities for the new iPhone debut? Being on dial-up it's hard for me to watch the video streaming.
- Mol, FF Music Lover
Waiting to see magic unroll on the iPhone 3G marathon coverage.. Leo, who is joining you on the 24 live?
- Du Senyao Peter
Leo should do it telethon style... Have really cheesey variety acts, I'm thinking a singing dog and a bird that runs a obsticle course. Then every hour you could cut to a scene of Dane and Colleen at a bank of telephones and a counter of some sort. "Hi and welcome back to the iPhone-a-thon, lets go to Dane in the tally room... how we going Dane?"
- Johnny
I'm buying a Tesla Sedan just to beat Chris Pirillo. He always gets cool stuff before me. :-)
- Robert Scoble
Growing up in Michigan, we saw a couple of these on the roads. Our neighbor who worked for GM had one. It was so quiet!
- Betsy Weber
This was a great documentary and made me sad about how far back this set the development of the electric car in the US. The industry could have had a US contender, but now it's up to the Japanese to decide our fate.
- Phil Glockner
they need to re-elease this with a new title - "who THOUGHT they killed the electric car" :)
- Simon Hicks
Great movie, and I'm still pissed I can't buy an EV-1.
- Brandice
Great documentary, watched a few years ago. Almost shed a tear when they showed the footage of the last few cars being crushed.
- Phil Glockner
Oh, please. The laws of physics and electrochem killed the electric car. The EV-1 died because its market niche was too small. An EV would do fine for 90% of my driving, but what am I supposed to do for the other 10%? Just say "I won't do that any more"?
- Jamie Hanrahan
Tesla just announced their new sedan will be made in SF and available in 2010 for $60,000. Can't wait to buy one!
- Leo Laporte
At $60,000 for a sedan, I guess there is still money in radio.
- Ryan Cates
i wouldn't mind an electric car.. damn Detroit.
- Adam C.
CARB killed the electrical car. But hell, we can also say it was GM, they paid CARB off O_o
- Michael Forian
In realaity, is was most likely the EV-1 that killed the electric car the same way the Edsel killed inovation in the auto industry. Once bitten, twice shy.
- Robert Hafer
from twhirl
Sorry but a compressed air tank has even less energy density than a lead-acid battery. See the "energy density comparisons" table at www.tinaja.com/glib/energfun.pdf
- Jamie Hanrahan
Tesla is the way to go. The Menlo Park showroom is opening in late July.
- Darrell Holmquist
Just got this one too. I was prompted to move it to the top of my queue by the Tesla announcement the other day.
- Martin Gordon
Great movie, I can't believe they killed it the first time around, but GM almost killed it the second time around. Currently the Volt is supposed to launch in 2010. I am planning on stopping by the Telsa showroom next week while I am in LA.
- Brian Blankenship
We had a big writeup in the L.A. Times re: new Tessla Dealership. It's in a high class neighborhood on the West Side. High visibility. Near some Porsche and BMW Dealerships, next to 405 Freeway.
- Harry Myhre
This is also a problem...I can't stop checking sometimes :)
- Justin Korn
@Justin LOL. Imagine what will happen when 6 billion people are all connected! Much better than 3 channels of TV...
- Mitchell Tsai
@Mitchell - Just following Scoble keeps me busy enough with all of his friends. I'm only subscribed to 18 people so far. I can't even imagine what will happen as that grows.
- Justin Korn
@Justin That's my problem too. I sit down at 9PM and suddenly it's 1AM.
- Kevin Shannon
Try unsubscribing to Robert Scoble, and reading him directly on his page & his discussion page. RAPatton is one of the heaviest users here, and he only subscribes to 22 people http://friendfeed.com/pattonr... RAPatton's discussion http://friendfeed.com/pattonr... Some people post nothing on their feed, and do all their interacting in the Discussion area with comments/likes. Other people comment/like almost nothing, and just post stuff.
- Mitchell Tsai
I have a FF question: My bookmarklet doesn't have the 'post image' option. Is it only compatible with FF3?
- Mona Nomura
I subscribe to 388 people, but only a small faction post anything other than there tweets.
- Russellreno
I would never subscribe to that Scoble guy. :-)
- Robert Scoble
@Russellreno - that sounds boring (no offense to you or your subscriptions). Thing is, as more non-techies get on here, that's mostly what they will do as well. I'm very interested to see how FF grows beyond Techie Ville (if it does).
- Justin Korn
@Robert - maybe you just convinced me to unsubscribe from him :-)
- Justin Korn
Justin - No offense taken. Unsubscribe to every one but me and you will find a very vibrant non techie community. Better yet, subscribe only to edythe. Follow her for a week, subscribing to her non-techie friends and you will discover there is life beyond Techieville.
- Russellreno
@Mona N What are you running - PC or Mac? I'm on Safari. If you hover over a picture, a "share picture" option should appear.
- Mitchell Tsai
@Mitch. HOVER DUH.. see? my circle is ALL sorts of wrong HA
- Mona Nomura
@Mona The fact that "anyone" has trouble finding a feature means that the User Interface could be better. A lot of people like Flickr, but it's taken me 2 weeks to find 2 basic features - "show larger picture" and "connect with personX". On Google Picasa, I had no trouble.
- Mitchell Tsai
Russellreno: Wow 388 people! I'm subscribed to 40 and it's plenty to be able to have constantly updated content.
- Eric Florenzano
But it irritates me that I didn't figure it out... FF bookmarklet =/= all other bookmarklets... think outside the box (bookmarklet?), Mona
- Mona Nomura
Flickr's "Show All Sizes" sits right above the picture, but I didn't see it for 2 weeks. I hope you aren't feeling too badly. :-( As I tell my non-tech friends, I only appear to know a few things because I've made millions of mistakes already.
- Mitchell Tsai
Jason: That's cool! I hadn't heard of Leechblock before, but it's a brilliant idea.
- Eric Florenzano
"The Iraq war is to blame for high gas prices as its cost has weakened the dollar and driven oil speculation, Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.), a national co-chair of Barack Obama's presidential campaign, said today."
- newsjunk.com
Discussion about the connections between the Iraq War, the rotten economy and stratospheric prices for oil and gas should be front and center in American politics. But the very same neoconservative mainstream media which served as cheerleaders for the war want to keep subject far away from the consciousness of the American public.
- Sean McBride
More Democrats, Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.), finding blame instead of offering substantive solutions to the price of gas.
- Paul W. Swansen
An excellent start to bringing down the price of oil and gas would be to stop threatening to attack Iran. It would also help to stop dumping several trillions of dollars down the drain in Iraq, with the sole effect of greatly increasing the power of Muslim fundamentalists in the region and devaluing the dollar. Neoconservatives in the Republican Party who control John McCain have promised to escalate these problems, not solve them.
- Sean McBride
I call it "Bush's tax." See, Republicans always say "we don't increase taxes." But yet they do when they spend billions of dollars with no other way to find them. See, when we don't pay for what our government is doing in real taxes, the treasury just prints more dollars, decreasing the worth of the dollar (and THAT is a HUGE decrease in real worth -- just go to London or Paris and see how badly we've faired in the past four years) and increasing prices for anything we import, including oil.
- Robert Scoble
Paul, if we put political biases aside for a moment, isn't it reasonable to identify a problem's causes as a precursor to identifying viable solutions?
- Kevin Fox
I view the Iraq war as far more an economic problem than geo-political at this point. We can't afford this war. It's had a negative effect on the dollar and you know who does fund our debt? Foreign nations like China and Japan. That's who we owe - more and more. The problem is - a majority of Americans don't understand debt themselves!
- AJ Kohn
Robert - Bush has effected a huge transfer of wealth (trillions of dollars) from the American middle class to the military-industrial complex and super-wealthy (billionaires, decamillionaires and hectomillionaires), while greatly devaluing the dollar and pushing the price of oil and gas into the stratosphere. Bush hit the trifecta. Much more of these trendlines, and we will witness the...

Wow someone mentioned the elephant at the tea party!
- Jim Stewart
What I find most frightening about the current state of the economy is not it's current state, but rather the decade(s) it may take to fully recover.
- Sean Brady
Sean: the Republicans I met with last week on the Hill weren't very happy with Bush, that's for sure. Washington DC is waiting for someone to push the reboot button.
- Robert Scoble
Robert: it's too bad Republicans didn't do a better job of protecting their best principles and interests when they had a chance over the last eight years. The damage is going to be difficult to repair. And Bush and Cheney could inflict much more damage before the reboot. (Giving a green light for Israel to attack Iran is one possibility.)
- Sean McBride
Robert: I hate politics. If the republicans on the hill see the need to push the reboot button, why are they not pushing it. I guess the answer is politics. Ugh.
- Sean Brady
thx, also noticing i have some FF echo here becuase of twitter, perhaps twitter is the one service not to feed into here
- sean percival
Interesting how if the first comment is "Great article!" that I'm far more likely to click on the link and check out what was written.
- Robert Scoble
Me too, they are like preemptive blog comments! The best of the day/week listings are very cool too. Easy to see where the swarm is talking. http://friendfeed.com/summary...
- sean percival
So we need a "tag team" to get noticed? One to publish, and another to say "Great article!" & click "like" :-)
- Mitchell Tsai
If momentum continues, you'll see lots of peeps "boosting" ff content just like what is done with digg, yahoo buzz , google etc. ;) The best organic content will still rise pretty high though.
- sean percival
Sean, don't worry about the twitter echo. If anyone is annoyed by it, they can hide that particular twitter entry, or all your twitter entries.
- Phil Glockner
Robert -- me too! That's why I reserve it for truly good articles. ;)
- Phil Glockner
There are so many new services. Thus, we run to each new service, play around for a bit and then quickly abandon it. FF is the exception, however. :-) Great article.
- Roger Chen
I was just thinking this weekend about how the social revolution has become the next stage of bit barf. Far too much going on out there, FF is sorely needed!
- Vermyndax

To the point in your post about owning your FriendFeed, couldn't agree more. I wish WordPress was more like FriendFeed. A widget in the sidebar or an import of FF comments just doesn't do it for me. Had no clue when reading the first list of comments on your blog what the heck Scoble was talking about until I realized he was referring to comments over here on FriendFeed.
- Dominic Jones
Constantly changing just to keep up with the pack.
- Bob Gannon
Excellent post and definitely where SM needs to go!! We need tools to help us control and manage our online identities / brands. I like the ME central concept!
- Susan Beebe
I found this via FF but lost the page it came from, I did want to "like" it but for the 1st time i seen a plugin with comments and likes, and instantly could like it from the site it originated from...which brings me to... how long before we have this on every type of blog platform, and also on media or any other sites sort of like "X amount of digg's" I'd love to add this to a few pages, other then wordpress, nice article too.
