E servono.
- Kurai (ff)
Hai letto Understanding comics?

- Alberto Mucignat
no. pensavo piuttosto a un acquisto all'ingrosso. sembra davvero così strampalata, come idea?
- Matteo Balocco

"Second Life and Opensim alike share a particular attribute that is not quite as common to many of the other virtual worlds and games platforms. That attribute (well known to anyone who has been in and looked around) is a completely dynamic and potentially ever changing environment. Creating and moving things on the fly either as a user or through programs and scripts means that any space or event can change almost instantly"

Maybe this will be solved. Maybe it's because it's in beta. Maybe it's a bit early to call FAIL?
- Opensource Obscure
The #wavefail is kind of silly, we all know it's still in beta. But I searched on google and couldn't find a quick answer to my question, and then searched twitter, and the #wavefail hashtag seems like the best aggregation of what things in wave aren't working or what things people are frustrated with. I included the tag so this bit of info would show up for anyone searching about wave probs even though I think it's too early to call it fail, too. ;)

I look at Second Life and I see how a single prim combines with others to make a table, and with more still to make a house, a parcel, a region, a continent and a world. And I can’t help wonder whether code doesn’t have that same propensity towards aggregation, whether our belief in the ubiquity of data (and that concept of “all information wants to be free”) doesn’t in fact disguise another more hidden truth, which is that while the information may have the same sort of granularity as the blessed prim and may come to exist EVERYWHERE, that the code itself leans towards aggregation, meta data, and semantic tags, each of these larger concepts nested within still larger ones until, maybe, we get to the point where we ourselves are granular actors contained within the larger vessel of code.

The war at the Lab isn’t a war between growth and stasis, between a “loose confederation of coders” and a tightly organized bureaucracy. It is the war to remember that the technology is in the service of people, with all their hopes and fears, their ambiguity and endless ability to say maybe.

Remember this is NOT an official Raph Koster feed. This is a Friendfeed "imaginary friend" linked to Raph's Twitter feed. I'm currently following Raph on Twitter and I'm not even following this stream on FF anymore. Should anyone of you want to manage this feed here on FF, let me know.
Couldn't they put transmitters on the cars that send the cars positions to control the display of realistic 3D models in realtime? The epredator article suggested it was after the fact.

a little hint at the future of sports broadcasting. This example may have come from the F1 company feed, or been part of the upgrade in racing brought by the Abu Dhabi circuit but it was the sort of thing we need to see more of. The live video (replay) was blended into a rendered 3d model so that camera angles and analysis could be made after the event

As you already know, sculpted prims switch between three resolutions depending on your camera's distance from them in Second Life. Sometimes the difference in resolution makes such minor differences in the sculpt that you can simply ignore it. However, sometimes the sculpt ends up looking bizarre, and other times you simply need the sculpt to stay at the higher resolution.

Debug Permissions is a tool which shows you granular attributes of your Second Life items. Permissions have numerous subtleties and with some practice, Debug Permissions can help you figure these out. You should have a firm understanding of next-owner permissions before using Debug Permissions. To view Debug Permissions: Open the Advanced menu and select Debug Permissions. Right-click an object and select Edit. If the General tab in the build tools isn't selected, click it. Now, you'll see what was previously a blank spot has been filled in with additional Permissions

Is the office hours transcript online and if so do you have a link? Who is the new one, and are the others already hired? If they are already hired, what are their names and what departments do they work in, or what title do they have, or what special job duties do they have? How many are there?
- SuezanneC Baskerville
Andrew didn't post transcripts yet - I think he plans to do it. No transcripts since months. Unfortunately I don't have any information about what you ask, as Andrew didn't tell much more about this topic.

Hello! Remember that this is an unofficial feed. It's basically a Friendfeed group (I created it some time ago, when FF had 'imaginary friends' only and not Groups) and I'm not paying attention anymore to it, so if anyone of you wants to manage it, just reply here or contact me.
Friendfeed won't be developed anymore. I'm currently using Twitter Lists to aggregate tweets from Google: if you already have Lists in your Twitter account, you can see my Google list here: http://twitter.com/oobscur...
