I just read this morning on ecampus that Florida is also considering offering free, web-based textbooks with a POD option at about half price -- authors would get royalties on the POD. Nice opportunity not only for students, but for academic units to write course packs more professionally and direct a revenue stream to their areas. Some possibility of conflict there, but no more than having Pearson spends $$ romancing faculty to use their products!
