I've got a manageable number of contributors now and would be happy to open up PorBlogs.com to any bloggers in the Portland Metro area (even Vancouver) or elsewhere in Oregon. See http://porblogs.com/?page_id=2 to join.
I just noticed that ORBlogs is down and thanks to Rick for posting news about said closure. I too started my crappy blog because of ORBlogs (or at least what I was reading on the site). - http://www.thingsaboutportlandthatsuck.com

We'll get there. Maybe we can subdomain porblogs into pdx.orblogs.com, when the big launch goes? Seems a shame to replicate effort if porblogs takes off...

Not that Portland Blogs doesn't have it's utility, but I'd suggest that it's not a replacement for ORBlogs- just a different scale.

Looking through the ORblogs site, I can see that it's *not* a complicated data model...
I agree, but I also agree with Founder Paul Bausch's comments that we should probably spec out what it *should* be- both on the DB end and in the visual/services realm- and re-build it from the ground up. Not re-code the current code, but design a good site and create it.

I can't make it to the Green Dragon tonight (other obligations), but I'm definitely excited about the idea of building a "2.0" version. Please let me know how it guys. I'd be happy to resurrect my Digg/blog aggregation project and get it hosted ASAP. All it needs is a different skin: "ORBlogs" instead of "politics" :P

I just posted a comment on the florist website, but I'll repost there too. Any thoughts about a self-service approach, similar to how Digg works? I built a site not long ago for politics that did Digg-style voting but was also a self-service blog aggregator similar to http://javablogs.com/Welcome.... Thoughts?
