I agree with 'doctorshateapple' below.....if it was turned the other way round - it would appear on the News on tv & the government would be up in arms with sexism parades going up & down the streets - I can laugh it off tho ;)

I don't agree with the notion that life on Earth originated on Mars (or any other planet). I think it started and evolved from chemical reactions right here. Still, love this graphic out of context.

Kol: That's pretty neat. Wish it was shorter like wave.com or gwave.com (Google owns gwave.com anyway) or something.
- Nick Humphries
i think this @googlewave.com email address is a temporary thing during testing. after it goes live you should be able to just use it with your google account. at least that's what i think:)

if only you could bold an announcement in FF like you can in Wave :D [oh, and my username on Wave is the splendiforously original "adamlasnik"]

I plan to use it for collaborative ToDo management. Also, It'll help a lot in Podcast organization — Google Docs is not quite real-time, kind of delayed.

Wave will replace my lifestreaming, email, blog, microblog, conferencing and add new stuff like synchronized video viewing -->- http://bit.ly/896n5 so far. As things go on, it will become a code execution, debugging IDE and many more things that are not yet foreseen by me.
- vijay
@Filipe - I like the idea of 'collaborative ToDo Management' - it sounds as if it could really work

@vijay - Synchronized video viewing sounds great

No, Lindsay, not a disappointment, it is more of a pleasant surprise.

Lindsay kudos! I was gonna write something to this nature on my blog. It is too early to tell, and the needle might swing both ways (success or failure) but it is a disrupting technology any way you see it,
- Jorge Escobar
Great post, I agree that most people are missing the point of Google Wave and just using at as an extension to Twitter or their IM - I hope people will start to use it for what it's meant for soon so that we can all experiment with the power of the Wave (It already feels weird that I can only comment at the bottom instead to the comments above on other sites)

I have 1 Google Wave Invite spare - I need your gmail address to invite you and you will not get it straight away as it's down to Google to send it out
http://www.google.com/reader... I'm glad you asked this right now. I just realized that several people are following me and I didn't even know it. I hope it hasn't been this way for long!
- Michael Fidler
Just noticed that Reader now allows grouping of people you follow! Wondering: is Reader going to become a competitor (instead of complement) to FriendFeed?
- Chris Rogers
@rogersdc / Chris, Google Reader is obviously been trying to become more social, but I'd really like to see FF come out with a bookmarklet that makes sub'ing RSS feeds to FF easier/faster. Right now it's a manual process involving either a new Group/Room or Imaginary Friend. Should be 2 clicks tops.. Also see: http://friendfeed.com/alexsch...
- Alex Schleber
Here is mine : http://www.google.fr/reader.... I share (mainly on French sites and blogs) about libraries, literature and arts, human and social sciences, photography :-)
- Nadine Pestourie
LOL here we go again :o) http://www.google.com/reader... I share a lot of blogs and funny stuff that I read, it's neat how I can share and it gets posted all over by friendfeed.
- David Gross
http://www.google.com/reader... - I share items about productivity, gaming, movies, and misc. stuff from the Google "cool" via Recommendations feed. Thanks Kol for starting this thread because I've been trying to cut down on the number of feeds I subscribe to and instead just follow interesting people.
- Dusty Edenfield
Svartling: good point about adding people to groups. I noticed I couldn't comment on items that were shared by some users.
- Dusty Edenfield
I've (we) written a lot of more good tips on how to use Google Reader in Google Reader comments. It's too bad we don't have permalinks in Greader so we can share our notes and comments. Otherwise I could have posted a link here. Here are some on friendfeed: http://friendfeed.com/svartli...
- Svartling
The conversation is really blowing up (in a good way) on Reader. The most important reminder currently is to set up groups and allow commenting. That is NOT on by default!
- Vince DeGeorge
Thank you all. I think I have subscribed you all now (except those feed in languages I don't understand) Here is mine again: http://www.google.com/reader...
- Svartling
I've started to follow a few of the people here but there's quite a few, so will take me a while :) - My currently fairly bare feed is: http://www.google.com/reader...
- Roy Herrod
There are a few entries here you might like to read to help you. This one: http://ff.im/6CkQj explains about adding people to groups to allow them to comment and why some don't stay in groups. In this one: http://ff.im/6F9pQ I suggest a way to track a large number of shared items using PostRank. This: http://ff.im/6Ci0P and this: http://ff.im/6AM35 has a few tips on using GReader as a lifestreaming service. And this: http://ff.im/6EMT1 gives a few examples of GReader bundles.
- Kol Tregaskes
Those of you above whom I already follow on FF/Twitter/etc., I've subscribed to your feeds. As for the rest of you: if you follow me on GReader, I'll follow you back.
- Dennis Jernberg
I'm sharing some pages now, including a few of my past blog entries.
- Dennis Jernberg
Because I have issues with data duplication, I have merged this list with the google reader shares room feeds. You can view the Google spreadsheet at http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc...
- Rob Diana
There are a bunch of shared feeds that I could not resolve the Google username for because they did not have a named profile set up.
- Rob Diana
tristanhambling, your link didn't work. :-(

It would be really handy to have all these shared feeds as an opml file. Has anyone added everyone? Care to export an opml of the shared feeds?
- Paul Jacobson
I'm http://www.google.com/reader... Not really comfortable with the custom URL though since it can only be your gmail username. Makes it really easy for spamspiders I think.

MF/Kol = I live in Kingston on Thames. It's OK apart from the traffic (continually gridlocked) and the shops (girls just lurve them). Handy for getting into London both airports and out to the Thames Valley for work type things. Richmond Park and the river in walking distance is great too.
- Andy C
Andy, Richmond Park and the others around there are the appeal really. Good place to go photographing and cycling while being very close to London I think.
- Kol Tregaskes
Teddington (across the river from Kingston Upon Thames, is where I think I'd like to live. Just 'cos it's cheaper than everywhere else around it. :-)
- Kol Tregaskes
@Kol many years ago, we made the mistake of asking an estate agent in Surbiton whether it was any cheaper than Kingston. She replied 'No - of course not. We are on the fast line to Waterloo' and looked at us as if we were dog excrement.
- Andy C
I've checked rental prices in the area several times over the last 2 years and Teddington is definitely cheaper. I'm not buying, no way I can afford that. ;-) All a pip-dream anyway, need a steady job and I've not had that for a while. :-(
- Kol Tregaskes
anyone use google reader on windows mobile professional? I cant seem to get it to work and when I try to go to the mobile site it takes me to the regular site.
- David Gross
Nope, sorry can't help you there, David.

"perhaps Microsoft is taking Firefox's side, at least against Google. As The Register reports, Microsoft Office Web Apps, due out in 2010, will support Firefox and other "familiar Web browsers," which doesn't include Chrome, Safari (for Windows), or Opera. Apparently, Microsoft will only be supporting those browsers that don't have an operating system competitor attached to them."

I dunno...when I get a finished OS X version I'll find out.
- Neal Jansons
Firefox 4 is supposed to reduce reliance on XPCOM and therefore improve performance.
- Jason Wehmhoener
I use both all the time, when firefox isn't running a million tabs, I don't notice a difference in speed, and Chrome is unusable past 15 tabs or so
- Richard Lawler
HAHAA! By 2010, Chrome will be a "familiar" web browser!
- Wizetux
as most other people would say I use firefox just for the plugins..It's sad when a product's usability is dependent on it's popularity
- Rares Matei
Chrome is my default browser for months now because of it's speed. I used to open Firefox but after months of Chroming, Firefox seems very slow now. So yes, Chrome's speed displaced Firefox already for me.
- Nik
I prefer using Chrome at the moment mainly because I'm not really that bothered about using loads of addons
- outofmyarse
I'm seriously thinking about switching. I've been using it more and more and the cleanness far outweights the lack of extensions.
- James Myatt
I doubt Chrome will, I find FF serves differently than Chrome in many ways. They r not alike until then let there be competition
- polou/indigo_bow
Aha. I'm exactly opposite of James then. I simply *can't* browse effectively without some extensions. Namely: WiseStamp, FoxyProxy, Xmarks, NoScript, AdBlockPlus.
- Pandu ● IT Optimizer
As a Mac user, I really don't care about Chrome. Webkit and Chrome will continue to play leap frog with each other in performance. Once Snow Leopard comes out Webkit will get to run in 64-bit Safari. For the vast majority tho, I think IE has more to lose than FireFox. Once a platform has great developer support, its hard to pull people away from that. Just look at Android vs iPhone in terms of developer support. I think FF's best move would be to dump Gecko and adopt Webkit.
- Mac64
Since Chrome and Safari are both Webkit, the difference in performance is going to be the Javascript engine (V8 vs Squirrelfish) and the implementation of the UI. Right now Chromium seems faster than Safari, although it would probably be a fairer comparison if I tried Webkit nightlies. But I honestly couldn't tell you if Chrome's process separation and JIT Javascript compiler really provide the stability and speed that Google claims it does.
- Victor Ganata
from iPod
People doesn't like to change... I don't think Chrome speed will lure away users from Firefox. And, also: Firefox has plenty of addons, Chrome does not. That's a big point.
- Gilberto Ficara
@Mac64: I disagree. If all non-Microsoft browsers use Webkit, there would be less reason for Webkit to continue development (as the Trident engine in IE is very lacking). Competition is always good.
- Pandu ● IT Optimizer
Chrome has speed? Then what the heck am I using that's slower than molasses immediately after booting up my machine (had to shut it down to upgrade from 2GB of RAM to 3GB)?
- MiniMage TKDteacher of FF
I think people are referring to rendering times, and not startup times. :)
- Victor Ganata
Here lies the problem. Microsoft being selective about what they support, when for YEARS everyone has had to go out of their way to support IE. If they support Safari on OSX, why doesn't Chrome work too. If they wanted business, they should make it work on about everything.
- Kreg Steppe
Feeding the competition was always a bad move in business unless there's benefits to both sides

Everything "Friendfeed like" I tried I have been able to do from a technical standpoint. I'm sure there's things missing though. The people are what really make up the Ff experience for me, but as far as the technical aspects, it seems pretty damn close.
- Matthew DeVries
Is there a way to import our ff friends into google reader?
- Christian Burns
from iPhone
How does the "follow/subscribe to person X" paradigm port over to GoogleReader - I know under the 'browse for stuff' section there is a 'From people you follow' tab but I haven't got anyone in that list yet... Keep meaning to get around to taking another look at the GoogleReader as I used to use it all the time but stopped about 6-12 months ago.
- Roy Herrod
You can search for people be email on your "Sharing Settings" page, or you can look for a link on the person's Google profile. In FriendFeed, you can look at all the service icons associated with a FF user at the top of their profile page. Click on the Google Reader link to go to their Shared Items page, from which you can sub.
- Ken Sheppardson
I disagree - the vibrant flow of commentary and opinion on snippets of shared items is distinct to Friendfeed. Google Reader is still mostly static, even the shared items feed.
- Aaman (Clone of FF)
new features in goog reader allow *manual* push to other targets (fb, FF, customized, etc), but how do you do this automatically in g.reader so that it functions like automatic pull/push (aggregation and forward) of friendfeed? posterous can automatically push (forward) but not pull. so g.reader is still NOT friendfeed, but it clear to me that google is now fighting exactly against combined forces of FB+FF.
- jacek
jacek - all of that is there. One glaring thing that is missing though, is friend of friend.
- Matthew DeVries
Aaman - you're doing it wrong. It's not static any more. There are comments and conversations. And better than friend feed, it lets you know if the comments are more active on the fed item, or with GReader, so you know where to put your comment.
- Matthew DeVries
Matthew: automatic forward? ok, i need to find it then, perhaps i missed it. and: you could consider "x people liked this" (in 'people you follow') to be FoF like. indeed i'm trying to figure out how i could use goog reader to be my main aggregator (like i use FF now).
- jacek
Every time I hit "share" it goes to an RSS feed.
- Matthew DeVries
I've just been playing around with some of the bits in GoogleReader but I don't think it's close to FriendFeed yet. I'm still failing to see where the discussion and community come into it, as easily as it does in FriendFeed.
- Roy Herrod
Yeah, it's missing quite a bit... but I've tried to reassure/encourage enough people who were frustrated with FriendFeed's learning curve that I'm willing to cut Reader some slack for now and not just dismiss it.
- Ken Sheppardson
How can having 1 shared folder and being able to follow people's shared folders be even considered close to friendfeed? No topicality, no knowledge of per source data structure (many just come through as titles), an "email queue" browsing structure. It does get the information, but not the interaction or experience.
- Joelle Nebbe (iphigenie)
You need to go to the Comment View (link in the menu on the left under People you follow) provided you have enough people subscribed to you that can comment to your shared items (by placing them in a group) then you will see the action. It's not straightforward but it's definitely there.
- M F
M F, does that mean I can only comment on things if the person sharing it is following me and has explicitly added me to a 'group' that is allowed to comment? - That's where I feel it falls down in comparison to FriendFeed. For instance I don't know 'Matthew DeVries' or (to my knowledge) have ever seen any of his posts/comments before, but thanks to FriendFeed the above discussion has...
- Roy Herrod
Yes that's the main flaw at the moment as I didn't know it until this morning and could not understand why the place was so quiet. I'm still following people who have not added me into a group and therefore I cannot comment on their items. Followers should be in a group by default (with the option to take them out if required which would be a bit like the FF block system).
- M F
Yeah, Roy, that is the main thing missing, the friend of friend bringing the thing to you.
- Matthew DeVries
Joelle - (You probably know this) but you just followed me, but didn't put me into a google contacts group that allows commenting, so I can't comment on your shared items (which is probably a good thing)
- Matthew DeVries
I just discovered GoogleReader has a 'status' type box where you can type in messages rather than just sharing RSS stuff - It does seem to have a lot of the pieces technically, but its just not quite there yet...
- Roy Herrod
Agreed Roy. It's kind of a mess actually right now but still cool to see it forming into something.
- manielse (Mark Nielsen)
Whoa, did you see the mouse over tooltips that tell you when the post in the comment thread was posted?
- Matthew DeVries

more different cheeses, but please please do'nt ruin the beauty of it with *shudders* tofu..
- Rasmus Lauridsen
you can also add more colours with some vegetable (spinach, potato, peppers, etc.) frittata/omelette cubes. The original is really nice & yummy though :->
- Stefaniav
You could make that with tofu or jello too.
- Adrian
The cubes are perfect, I'm still astonished
- Stefaniav
Hanna, what about switching meat for tempeh? Wonder if Rasmus shudders from tempeh lol but anyway, its your cubewich to do with it what you want. :)))

Konstantina, I can think of boiled sweet potatoes and pumpkin as some of the vegetables that can be cut in such cubes O_o also carrots maybe... and definitely more cheese. plus some mangoes?..

- Dennis Jernberg
Twitter seems to be degrading the overall mentality of people and entrepreneurs. Everyday new tools related to twitter. How about utilizing that skill and knowledge to release something that can sustain in the long run rather than piggybacking on twitter, which still doesn't know what it's going to with the service itself.
- Ritu
Ritu, there is a lot of that going on, but not here. Yahoo is hardly in the entrepreneur category and this is really just a publicity campagin for their newly redesigned website (which nobody cares about).
