What is Disruptive Innovation? In the hypercompetitive digital world everybody is looking for an edge and being “Disruptive” sounds like a good way to be clever and beat the competition. The term is used (or overused) usually to show that one is “thinking outside the box.” Yet Disruptive Innovation isn’t about being wily or cunning, it is about passion and privation.

“It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is the most adaptable to change.”_ Charles Darwin There are two forces at work in nature, according to Darwin. One is a gradual change from an ancestral to a current condition. (A process biologists call "anagenesis.") The other is divergence, a splitting of the ancestral tree to create new branches. (Biologists call this "cladogenesis.")
