"Employment has become slavery - 50 years ago families could live meaningful lives with one breadwinner, now it takes two to eak a meager existence. We need to pay wages to people that ensure that everyone is taken care of. Just because so and so works at McDonald's doesn't mean they don't work hard. Just because certain people aren't smart enough, or don't have certain skills shouldn't mean that their contribution to society isn't just as important. Liberty and freedom. We are running out of jobs because we have too many people in the workforce -- if we went back to one-parent working, one staying home, and lower the retirement age a couple of years we would have more jobs to spread around and more freedom/happiness for everyone."

"Here's a solution -- CEO pay capped at 10x average employee wage. Say the average employee makes 40k, CEO can only make 400k, get the avg upto 100k/employee and woah now the CEO can make 1 mill... when business is good and everyone is rewarded morale and sales will go up and so will CEO pay along with everyone else's pay company-wide..."

"By no means an expert in deployment of Rails apps--having only done local and test stuff on Heroku / appfog, but-- I'm wondering as an enterprise business, wouldn't it be just as easy to own the server farm? You'd have full control over how everything is managed, you could even co-op with a couple other companies to share the cost of an operations center -- have 3 companies each pay 33% of the cost for a devops team + the cost of bandwidth/backbone/etc + their hardware costs for setup. Or since a lot of these companies just piggyback off Amazon, why not hire an Amazon cloud pro to setup everything directly?"
